I am a convert to the Catholic faith from Protestantism. I’m glad I’m blessed to be doing my first lent in the Catholic Church. I shall have God bring order in my creaturely will by fasting (contemplation and reading my Catholic Bible). God bless everyone and welcome home to all incoming Catholics!
Dear Bishop Barron Thank you a lot for your videos. I was absent for 2 years from the catholic church. Listen to the narrative and was misguided. Now I came back to my faith, stronger! Yesterday I went to my frist real confession and I was overwhelmed with the love and patience of God. The priest was very respectful and just listened without judging. I had a lot of fear to go to confession but I would recommend it to annyone. Thank you a lot to our Bishops and Priests. I really respect you! I understood, that I had to do something on my part to honour the house of God, our church. Thank you God. God bless.
A priest should NEVER judge your sins. I’m glad your confessor did not judge yours. Any priest who does or would faces serious consequences and commits a sin far greater than the sins of the person confessing. So glad for your confession experience!
I think it was St. Augustine who said : Take care of your body as if you were going to live a thousand years ( or maybe he said forever? Cant remember), and take care of your Soul as if you were going to die tomorrow. I think that's a simple and effective way to think of living a Christian life.✝️
This Lent I have to live it lying in bed after several surgeries due to an accident that caused multiple fractures. I have never been more aware of my body than now, I have never communicated with my body as I do now, I have never valued the wonderful body we have as I do now. And it is the pain of the body that leads me to have this new awareness of my body and that leads me to seek reconciliation between body and soul. This homily is a balm for me in my situation and a clear guide to living Lent.
so many of us today hate who we are - from people who struggle with our sins to those who claim to be something they are not. To remember that we are interwoven, helps me to offer it all to God...to say, "help me with Your Grace, to walk Your path with grace and dignity.". I want to be a whole person...and I want to be a Holy one too.
My forever gratitude to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to inspire Bishop Barron's heart and soul, to share such TRUTH! in a CRYSTAL and CLEAR eloquent manner.
Incredible-Jesus, the Word made flesh, the integration of the body and soul. This is the first time I’ve seen the connection between the covenant of Noah’s Ark and Jesus in the desert. Brilliant homily Bishop, God bless your evangelisation!
This homily reminds me that the Mass is “source and summit” of our faith - that we go to mass on Sunday to know the culmination of our experiences and to carry into the following days our spiritual food to ponder and uplift us. There is so much here to digest and what a wonderful thing to be knit back together to wholeness in this season! Thank you, Bishop!
I have been an avid follower of Bishop Barron's work over the past number years, including the Sunday Sermons series. He and the team at Word on Fire have been a tremendous help for me throughout my spiritual journey in search of the truth. I can say - with total equivocation - this is without doubt one of his best homilies he has delivered. A profoundly beautiful message to reflect on during this time of spiritual reunification. God bless, Bishop Barron, and God bless you, all. x
Dear Norma, you can listen to him not only in his Sunday homily but many other programs on RUclips, like Word on Fire, discussions etc. He is all over RUclips. ✝️😊
A beautiful homily Bishop Barron. Of the many gifts the Holy Spirit has bestowed upon you, he has also given you the gift of connecting the dots for us. Thank you Almighty Father for working through Bishop Barron to teach us how to be better children to You, to be better human beings, and to be better Catholics. When I listen to your homilies Bishop my relationship with the Lord grows and deepens. Thank you, Almighty Father, for working through Bishop Barron to teach us how to be better children to You, to be better human beings, and to be better Catholics. Thank you, Lord,. Thank you, Bishop Barron!
This is one of the best sermons you have given, Bishop. Everything you shared is woven together like your message of soul and body. Wonderful. God bless you.
Please pray for me Jason and for my godmother Diane and for all of our families and friends and neighbors for conversion and salvation and holiness and healing and for knowledge of God and knowledge of ourselves and love of God and love of neighbor
Bishop Barron, you are the light I return to in my darkest hour. A true beacon of God’s love. I thank you for the peace you’ve provided, and pray that you continue to stand for those following your path. Amen.
I listen to Bishop Barron....I learn a lot, but it's a grounding in all the areas I need to improve in. A life long Catholic with many areas of improvement. Separting all the bad elements of influence of this broken society....from being a good Christian isn't easy. Actually damn difficult.
Thank you Bishop Barron, you never let me down when giving a sermon. Your words have helped to me to understand many things. And With your spirit, peace of Christ be with you
I probably define this as the biggest challenge I face in my walk with the Lord as a young man - thank you Bishop Barron for so much wisdom from the Holy Spirit
I am a retired veterinarian. I've made a career of seeing all kinds of animals in health and disease. I also attended Catholic schools K-12. Later in my career, I took a course in human gross anatomy. While I already knew the science, seeing the human body at autopsy and in dissection lab, I was spiritually ill-at-ease. I had (irrationally) expected the human body to be somehow "special." Nah. Parts is parts. I talked to a priest about this, and he shared the same wisdom that you provided us. Thank you for the reminder, Bishop Barron!
Absolutely phenomenal. Just what I needed. I've seen people attempting to be spiritual but neglecting basic physical and psychological needs so that they end up exhausted or often insufferable, and what a terrible and confusing example they set. I'm coming to understand that God does all with sense. I'd say common sense, often. And that all discipline is for harmony, not for the sake of sacrificing. It's all about love, just like a mom disciplines and nourishes her child in the right way at the right time. Wonderful reflection, thank you and God bless you too.
Bishop Barron has a masterful way of presenting great insights. And it's very insightful indeed at the start of Lent to consider how Christ joined matter and spirit, showing how spirit could manifest itself in a tangible body, so that we could have a perfect model for how to be balanced in tending to spirit and body in our lives.
Thank you Bishop Barron for this beautiful sermon and reminding us that we have mind, body and spirit that always need to be discipline and harmonise as we follow what Jesus did in the desert to prepare our salvation
How wonderous that God entered a human body. I feel that he did so to understand this life from our human perspective. Knowing our struggle, there's not one thing that Jesus asks of us that we can't do.
After listening to you Bishop Barron I understand better what this Word of God is about ,I wasn't sure about God with the animals or wild beast ,I thought that Our Lord would be terrified of them and suffered that for us ,but I understand better now thanks so much and God bless you ❤
This is Theology at its best, thank you bishop, thank you very much for this teaching … everything makes more sense to live for the Eternal Life. God bless!
I love how Bishop Barron echoed St. John Chrysostom’s words from yesterday’s Liturgy of the Hours (which are pure gold!): “Prayer is the light of the spirit, true knowledge of God, mediating between God and man. The spirit, raised up to heaven by prayer, clings to God with the utmost tenderness; like a child crying tearfully for its mother, it craves the milk that God provides.”
Thank you Bishop, so much to think about in this. I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am for you ministry. Brings much joy to my days and deepening of my faith. God bless!
Congratulations on 1M subscribers Bishop Barron and Word on Fire Team! May God continue to bless you in your ministry to bring the Good News to the world! The charity of Christ urges all of us! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I love your sermons. They always make me think about different things on different levels. The only thing missing is a blessing at the end of your talk. Please reconsider this; we all need blessings.
Thank you, Bishop! 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
A helpful and accurate Homily Bishop Barron. I know only too well the dichotomy between Spirit and Body. Our Father is seeking to transform the Body by the Spirit, to establish the Kingdom of Heaven and the incorruptable in the here and now. Blessings in Christ and ☮️🙏🏻
Wow. Thank y Bishop Barron. I have struggled with this, doing what I do not wish but not doing what I wish. It makes sense to me and I understand what you are saying here. I always come away with a better understanding of things when I listen to your presentations. THANK YOU!
Please send your reflection at least 2 days before sunday so that l may have new things to give to my people through my preaching. I am a Catholic priest
This sermon/homily is well worth watching/listening to several times. Even daily, during Lent. Maybe first thing in the morning. Right after or before morning prayer. Thank you, Brother Barron.
Thank you Bishop Barron for instructing your seminarians to take care of their bodies. I have sadly seen too many priests neglect their bodies and therefore have back pain and foot pain and all sorts of weight issues. ❤
I hope God takes pity on us poor creatures who constantly struggle with integrating the body and soull into holy harmony. Jesus, we trust in You to have mercy and pity on us.
Bishop Barron, with an eye looking for a glorious picture, worthy of my parent's own Children's Bible Storybook, I see Jesus sitting on a comfortable rock. Animals, large and small, tame and wild, all wanting Jesus's attention and offering unspoken love. The angels were swirling around above. They are guarding Jesus but smiling. They knew that in the midst of all these wild animals, Jesus was safe. The animals prprobably knew, on some level, that Jesus and his dad, created them
I think the most broken people on earth are people who have schizophrenia, DID, (dissociative identity disorder), borderline personality, and PTSD. The reason I say that is because of that difficulty in the integrated nature of soul and body. Out of our brain comes intellect, decision-making skills, the conscience, and our ability to connect with our bodies and souls. Therefore, it's crucial to develop over the entirety of a lifetime a genuine relationship with God (as we are able to relate to Him; [as developed by AA and Alanon] and each person is different so there's at least nearly 8 billion people who are learning self-mastery). For these thoughts that grew from your homily, Bishop Barron, I say thank you. I appreciate your sermons. God bless you.
I love that you mention the body , we have a body and it’s a miracle machine and it was perfectly perfected in His plan . The body and soul are sometimes a bittersweet melody . Is that a sin ? Loving Him is beautifully expressed with body and soul , the way it should be. The way it was meant to be. Thank you my deep thinker . Love you .
Very good indeed. Who would have reconciled the story of Noah with St Marks Gospel about Jesus in the desert. How glorious and wonderful a connection and also an acknowledgement of sin

What an awesome testimony. Confession is good for the soul; I recommend going more frequently than I change the oil in my car :)
Welcome back. God bless you

I invite you to meditate on the beginning of Paul's letter to the Colossians, particularly verse 1:24. It may help to give meaning to your suffering.

The human body is more than “ special “. It is sacred and purposely made.

Just a beautiful and brilliant homily, Bishop Barron. Thank you for that powerful way to look at Mark's words!

Thank you, Gracias.
Very good indeed. Who would have reconciled the story of Noah with St Marks Gospel about Jesus in the desert. How glorious and wonderful a connection and also an acknowledgement of sin
