It is not embarrassing to be mourning over a dog. Too bad regular TV doesn't address issues like Lou Grant anymore. This IS reality TV not the crap that is being made today! This episode is one of the finest and if you are a animal lover you WILL love this story!

Terrific episode highlighting a terrible problem, which is what Lou Grant did so well. This show did an especially good job of weaving multiple related storylines together, as it did here with the issues of dog fighting and Mrs. Pynchon’s relatable love for her missing pet. Nice to see her accept the staff’s gift in the end.

2018 an we still dealing with the same issue. The punchline to the joke is Pitbull and "our humanity". Shame it's gone international. Sometimes I think we create bad people so that we can have our great heroes.

This episode served a dual purpose. One was to address the issues of dog fighting and another was to give Barney a sendoff because the novelty of Mrs. Pynchon having a dog at the office went as far as it could.

I thought Barney was brought back at the end. I saw Lou holding a Yorkie.

Another problem is the mostly Asian habit to eat dogs like that. That was my first thought when the Name Kong turned up since it is Asian in origin.
For most Asians anyway Dogs are more usefull fodents breat for food or even for pelt making. A few years away there was that Parker Coat scandel that the one from Asia used to have dog hair brimed hoods .
Also the expression Chow Chow was originally a word for Asian pedlers in European vieited Chines Ports to sell small dogs as live food to sailers ( as broken English for chow line )
Some of the sea man bought a few of those animals and sold them as Chow Chows in their European Home Ports misunderstanding CHOW CHOW for a dog race name
And in HongKong in the British Days it had been forbidden by City Laws to sell or buy dogs as food.

So it it o.k. with you to eat chickens, pigs, cows, fish? Oh because one is a "pet" and the other isn't? We need very little animal products (for B12) to live healthy and good lives. It's hypocritical to say "eat these animals but not these" and while animals kill each other for food with their teeth and paws etc. that is not what we humans do. NO to dominionism.

I’m rescue animals for groups here in Dublin, Ireland. For cats and dogs we really recommend TELEPHONE NUMBERS ON COLLARS. Pets get accidentally and deliberately taken all the time. Microchipping is great, but places to check for a chip are usually closed in after work hours, the general public often are unable to get involved, not having a cat carrier or leads for dogs or the time or transport. Put the TELEPHONE NUMBER ONLY LARGEST FONT SIZE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE TAG. Pets name is irrelevant, getting a call is the most important. Largest tag, Black tag white engraving for most contrast, maybe the prefix on top line and number on bottom to make a largest font. Now finders can snap a photo of the tag if needs be if the animal is Injured or afraid. Cat owners, so called snap release collars are a waste of time, the Kill more cats than they save, the telephone numbers save almost all the cats that go missing or could be accidentally taken. Worrying about strangulation by collars is like worrying about getting killed because you wear a car safety belt as that to could happen. Get a fixed collar with elasticated stretch, and add a finger of wiggle room between neck and collar and get that Telephone tag on. There are also GPS collars TK Star TKStar 909 on Amazon eBay etc (ignore complicated instructions and stick in a SIM card with credit and they work) there is also an 800 foot radio collar that works like a metal detector so it will go through walls etc. The company is called TABCAT. Ignore all the others, they are usually rubbish Bluetooth, or have an Unnecessary ripoff monthly subscription. Whatever you do in life animal rescue places can use your skill, so call some and ask them.
