- RIP Hotpoint Aqualtis MeetUp. Chris and Phil came up from down south for the weekend. Originally it was to repair my Hotpoint Aqualtis, but it was recommended to replace the machine and not to repair it, so I bought an LG instead. The guys still came up and I repaired some of Chris’s machines for him and had a few more guys over on the Saturday for a mini meet. Please check out Chris and Phil’s RUclips channels.

Hello. Please take a look at this list: www.amazon.co....
one of the best hotpoints in history including the active care series, farewell hotpoint!
Unfortunately it was at the end of its life when I started filming it, I’d have loved to have fixed it, but just not worth it
Before commenting please consider the following. Commercial and domestic laundry engineer typing, as well as collector. Listen to this. 1. The machine is a Hotpoint and most people know the quality is around about zero. 2. A replacement tub may cost £200. The machine was £400 new for arguments sake. If you can fit it yourself, great, if you have to pay for labour then definitley not worth doing but youre still paying half way to a new machine with the drum alone. 3. The machine was around seven years old. As a typical average for Hotpoint and eqlivalant brands the machine has done well and there is a very high chance that you would replace the drum at cost and something else detrimental to the machines operation fail like the circuit board six months later. 4. Its HooverLux's choice what he wants to do with his money and his washer. 5. Dorian sourced a better machine, a Miele, for half the price of a new drum.
Thanks Chris, you’ve worded it better than I can. 🤗
My Hotpoint is the exact same model as yours and gutted the bearings went. I checked various parts web sites and a new drum would cost £300. I loved the look and style of the machine but it’s not worth the cost to try and repair it. A new LG it is as well.
That’s such a shame.
Unfortunately Aqualtis was still the victim of cost cutting with sealed tubs later... And then putting ever larger drum capacities while still using the same tiny 6205/6206 kind of size bearings - no wonder they failed so quickly 😔
That’s so true, I didn’t want to scrap it but unsplittable tub was just the death of it 😥
R.I.P Hotpoint ariston nevery forget you
No, especially as the door is nailed to the workshop wall 🤣
I would not bother with a Hoover it's owned by Candy now. I bought a Hoover washing machine for £690 it was making noise in drum after 4 weeks they kept coming out to fix it we very 6 months. Hoover is very fragile machine . I got the Hotpoint Aqualitis 11kg 1600 spin powerful wonderful machine in 2012 it's still going in 2023
That’s so true.
My grandparents aqualtis is a 7.5 kg model its around 15 years old its still running doing well with family of 5 and my step grandmother is a NHS worker so its always on 60 or above they used coloured 30 for darks and colours and bedding and towels it goes on bed and bath 60 sometimes whites+ prewash at 90 great machines what did you think of yours
I loved it to be honest and had no issues before the bearings went, if I could have replaced them easy I would have and was totally reluctant to part with it, but new tubs and bits ended up more expensive, so bought another. I also did higher temp washes frequently and used powder more often and limescale tablets.
I love your hotpoint
Awww, I do miss it. It did me proud for a good number of years.
I also miss this hotpoint, and what will you do with it?
Well, I kept the door to mount on my wall 🤣, some bits I sold on eBay. The rest was taken to the recycling centre.
I want to replace it because i find that newer washing machines tumble much better . And more often and i only wash clothes with cold water. My mother has the machine shi first had 1979 Electrolux still going .
Choosing a washing machine these days is a mine field. Even the most expensive of brands these days is not of the quality they once were, it’s such a shame.
Guys! How can I remove the cover on the top? Thanks in advance! ❤️
Undo the screws at the top back of the machine where the lid is.
@@HooverLux thanks pal! I'll search it.
R.I.p hotpoint , I've done a few tub/drum replacements on theese. The bearings always go on them
Hey handsome 😘. I’ve been told it did exceedingly well for 7 years constant use! Very lucky. If I’d have known I’d have got you over to strip it for me 🤣
@@HooverLux I would of strip'ed it in 15mins to the point where it would be just a shell. 7years is good for one of them usely they don't last that long!
flipflop595 yeah, that’s what Chris and Phil told me.
This is what kills me. Growing up all of our whirlpools lasted at least twelve years. My aunt’s Maytag lasted forty. Now seven is good though the machine cost three times as much.
I literally only know a handful of people who have had their current machines for a long time.
Farewell old Hotpoint you entertained us well!!! 😂😂 Xx
He did and did it so well, but hey ho! Still a few more Hotpoint Washy Wednesday vids to go before we finally say Adios 🤣
@@HooverLux 😂😂
Hi, I have the exact same machine.. the drum has stop spinning all of a sudden when trying to start any type of wash.. any idea what could be the cause? Thanks
Does the motor run? Could be belt, to be honest could be motor brushes, anything to be honest, I don’t know much about the mechanics, sorry 😢
@@HooverLux thanks for the quick reply.. get nothing from the motor or belt.. sounds like a new washing machine is needed lol
@@HooverLux hotpoint aqualtis washing machines has brushless motors.
I have mine from 2007 and going strong!!!!
And is a washer dryer
Oh wow, that’s good innings
Is a candy rapido any good??
@@marcoaurelionunes8031 how is the drying performance? I read that 2 in 1s (washer and dryer) don't dry so well ?
The tub is titanium?
Nah, it’s only the bolts that hold the spider on, that’s it.
What is broken about this machine?
The bearings went on it 😥
Sad times 😪
I know 😭😭😭😭
I've got one of these with bearings going. Was hoping the vid would show inside and why it can't be done. 7 years is nothing for a washer, I've had other makes that go on for 20. Shit engineering as usual hotpoint. I will take mine apart when it finally gives up to see what can be done
I could have changed the bearings, but I would have had to have changed the whole drum as you can’t access the bearings. Shame, but if you can replace it, give it a go.
@@HooverLux can you make a video of how much the washing machine needs to be disassembled to reach that bearing that needs to be changed? I found to buy a model with a bearing problem at a price of nothing and maybe it pays to repair it :) if it doesn't require extra effort and advanced engineering knowledge .. :) thank you very much
Rest in peace aqualtis
2006-2019
It carried a donor card and went on to give life to a few other machines 🤣
Bye Hotpoint 👋
It served us well, farewell Dear Harry! But I did keep his motor and door 😂
Memories. I had the exact same machine bought brand new back in 2007. It lasted a good 9 years before it passed away. Couldn't understand the logic of hiding the soap drawer behind the control panel but I supposed it gives the machine a sleeker look and reduced dirt ingress. It only had one minor issue which was the drive belt slipping, but Hotpoint quickly fixed it.
Diamondblade2008 that’s a good run for one of these machines, mine wasn’t bad either, if I had replaced the parts I’m sure it would have run for a good few years more. It was very clean in the inside and no look of major issues. Not a days trouble with this in all the time I had it. At first I missed access to the drawer, but after a while I got used to it and never had a problem.
How old is washing machine ?
2012. Almost 8 years with no previous issues, I’m very happy it lasted as long as it did to be honest.
rest in pieces XD
🥰🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
3 years now since it went
Ah yes! That’s gone quick!
The door is littarly the front lol
Yeah, I kept it to mount in the wall 🤣
@@HooverLux Ok good to now 😅
I knew it wasn't direct drive.
Me too 🤣🤣🤣
@@HooverLux so did you really like the machine or would you have preferred a different brand?
My washing machines from 2004 to 2008 was an Indesit. Then a Hotpoint and then this Aqualtis and now the LG. This is definitely the best machine I’ve had so far. I wouldn’t have bought another Hotpoint. It was a choice between an LG or a Samsung.
I’m glad that you didn’t get the Samsung. My sister has one. Thankfully she had an extended warranty. LG machines are. Dry reliable and average ten years. I have an Electrolux and it’s excellent. That would of course be AEG in England but mine is the size of an SUV which is unavailable there.
You lucky duck, I’d love one of those huge capacity front loaders, I’d happily sacrifice counter top for it 🤣🤣🤣. I really only looked for a direct drive as my new machine. I’d not go back to belt driven again.
I was hoping for a awesome repair video but NOT. Sorry little guy for your owners lack of love. Lol.
I wanted to but to replace these bearings means a whole new drum replacement and as I’d had it so long it was recommended not to bother for its age. So a Stripdown was turned into a disassembly 😭
HooverLux The metal wash drum makes a great-outdoor fire pit.
Yes! My dad in law in Australia did one with his old top loader 🤣🤣🤣🤣
