The crux of the sub-genre is that it is the ultimate fantasy of the asocial outcast, because psychologically, a cultivation story gives validation to the fantasy of said lifestyle, as it rewards them for being contemplative in their own thoughts and then when the time is right, unleashing it on society. It's basically fiction's version of thinking a good comeback in the shower but it's too late to say it now. In cultivation, it's not too late to say it, it's applicable at any point in time, which is why power fantasys like this are basically masturbatory in nature. It's an unconscious confidence boost on the audience rather than anything good. It's confirmation and validation meshed into the storytelling.
Haha that definitely matched with some of the recurring types of characters you see in these stories. You always have these young master types who will cultivate for 10 years to catch up with the MC to slap his ass but then find out he's even stronger than them than before.
1:09:40 You're right, hadn't read any novels when making the video, only the manhua, but part of why I skipped over some things was for the sake of video pacing/viewer engagement.
1:03:25 There were some pretty decent female characters in Earth's Strongest Magus. It's too bad I had to drop it after like 1000 chapters because the author made one decision that was so incredibly brain dead that it ruined the entire story.
Reading 999 chapters of slop and only realizing its slop on chapter 1000. What I admire about cultivation fans is the delusional dedication. You can't buy this kind of loyalty man truly beautiful
@@Grandman122 you're making a lot of assumptions with that comment. First of all, I knew the writing quality was not the best from the beginning, that's just the price you have to pay to read poorly translated cultivation novels. The reason I was reading it at all is becuase I find the concept of cultivation to be fascinating, and the story of Earth's Strongest Magus had enough compelling elements and plot threads that I could power through the weak sections. The reason I dropped it, and this is spoilers for the story (not that you care), is because the author killed the main character, split his soul into two, had half of his soul inhabit the clone that the character had prepared earlier on in the story, and had him lose all of his memories and a great deal of his power in the process. The worst part of this, and the part that made me unable to continue, was that the mc became a completely different, insufferable person after losing his memories, so at that point I'm basically reading a different cultivation novel that I have no interest in.
manhwa murim can barely be called a cultivations, their peak is like foundation establishment or Golden core and then there's some outliers like Nano Machine mc which trascends time according to spoilers
I love the absolute mental loopholes one must go through to say a statement such as. I think cultivation is actually one of the most underrated genres except for the fact that all of the material is bad and all of the authors are bad but it's so underrated.
A lot of series will have numered levels only for Qi refinement/condensation, but starting from Foundation establishment it becomes early, mid, late and perfect/completion.
martial peak has one of the best fortuitous cuz two of yang kai biggest opportunities is from the first 50-100 chapters and it literally became his core
I suggest you read "Beware of chicken". I have listened to the fist three books and before that read the first two. The fourth will be in audiobook form in september if I remember right. For now book 4 and whats written of book 5 is still on royal road. You would need to buy book 1-3 or find it somewhere else, but its great cultivation and farming novel
You guys got good manhua recommendation that still being updated? Already read chronicles of heavenly demon I look up renegade imlortal and they stop being updated on 2022
You know, Eternal Reverence had the absolute worst Manhwa adaptation I have ever seen. The book was fine, but dang the Manhwa only adapted like 8% of the book to it. It skipped everything.
Don't touch martial peak

So do you like it or nah?
I can see your point, but I honestly doubt that any asocial outcast/NEETs ultimate fantasy is to go into a cave to think for 30 years 🤣🤣
So basically sigma males lmao

Appreciate the reaction, dropped a sub! You're definitely fun to listen to, but you have to make more cuts for pacing bro, all the best🙇

i mean they’re some bad apples (alot) but done well its pretty good.

I actually like the manhua version of Hanjue and Secretly Cultivate for 1000 years.

20:45 Wish Fulfilment Fantasy.
I remember watching this 2 years ago.
Nevermind this is a sequel / remake video.
46:00 Doesn't Top Tier Providence use 9 layers? 👀
my favorite part of this vid is him gertting every manhua name wrong
It's almost like their names aren't worth remembering correctly. Because they're copy paste it out of an AI name generator
46:00 Bro what do you mean? Basically all of Er Gens novels start with Qi condensation with like 15 layers. ISSTH has 1-10 layers up to nascent soul.
not a world worth protecting but ur right. i be high msking my vids lol
Love your detail reaction bro
