The Inferno looks fantastic, something worth acquiring
It's my favorite too. Official images made it look a bit less interesting than it really is.
Me too
Just received one today. Very impressed with it, especially for the price point.
Fountain pen purgatory includes always having inky fingers from a fresh leak. Anything you touch gets covered. Mockers surround you, pointing with cheap promotional pens chanting "Why didn't you just use a ballpoint"
Your crime? Intentionally leaving a pen uncapped and forgetting about it, then knocking it off the table straight onto the tines.
And Hell would be being forced to use a ballpoint for eternity.
Great review David. Very handsome pens. Purgatory for dropping a pen onto its nib. Ninth circle of hell for posting an urushi pen.
The blue Paradiso is gorgeous! Truly a divine winner of a pen.
Nice to see another affordable offering from Visconti. Thanks.
I feel a tinge guilty, but I like the Inferno model the best of the three. Unfortunately I don't have the kind of money available to acquire all three. Thank you for another great review.
Just to remark the importance of the Divinia Commedia in Italy, students study it for 3 whole years during high schools. One year for each part.
With regards to the pen, it looks a bit too much like the Rembrandt imo.
The metal grip section is a very well-chosen reference to the Inferno. 😅
The fourth level of hell is reserved for GREED. That seems appropriate.
Could you do a video about the Visconti Viscontina that’s appeared in a few of your videos?
Inferno all the way😊
I am curious about who is in charge of setting punishments for new crimes... is it a single individual? a committee? Because fountain pens are a fairly recent method of writing. Punishment: having to write a letter, and a) the nib is always just a little "wrong" no matter what you do to it and b) you get a leak, burp, or other mishap which destroys the letter just as you get to the end, forcing you to rewrite it over and over again.
Honestly through, I think the Inferno would have been nicely paired with gold trim, a warm metal for the warm red, as opposed to the coolness of a silver tone.
I'm not sure any FP "sins" merit one of Dante's rings but certainly purgatory till the stains come out!
I'm attracted to the blue pen, but I'm not attracted to the amount of metal on the pen. It's probably a lot prettier, in person. Mabe I'll see them in D.C. Eternal damnation for pen crimes should be having to forever write with a pen with misaligned tines; that also burps ink.
I know the prices are radically different, but I far prefer the Montegrappa Commedia pens, which are so much more representative of each of the three canticles. These pens seem kind of meh, particularly the one for Purgatorio, my favorite canticle. If I weren't such a passionate Dantista, I don't think I'd be able to figure out the intended symbolism!
It's such a wasted opportunity. It's a cool themed they wasted it with basically a boring Van Gogh style pen. A descent into hell and not one has their lava resin material.

@@ellaisplotting You are 100% right, I was writing pre-coffee.
hmm..fitting damnation...to never ever be able to write with a fountain pen or own fountain pens.
In what sort of world is a couple of pieces of plastic with a few bits of metal attached that can perform only a single function that less than 1% of the world's population performs on a regular basis considered a "starter" item at a cost of $200????? Must be the opposite of a divine comedy!
Seriously, as a Catholic who loves fountain pens (and who hopes for Purgatory since my much better half assures me that I am destined for lower regions), I would love to have the Purgatory inspired pen. However, inasmuch as that model will almost certainly have an extremely limited appeal, I can easily wait until the price drops, as it almost certainly will.
@wlbrockman As I mentioned in the review, I said this was in the general entry point range for this specific brand. I did not categorize it as a "starter" pen. Every brand will have varying entry points. The one for Montblanc is higher than the one for Pilot.
@@FigbootonPens Sorry, David. Seems I struck a nerve in my attempt to be facetious. I do understand the distinction between starter and entry level but failed to apply that understanding in my haste to share my wit.
Nevertheless, that Visconti regards this as an entry level price still strikes me as, perhaps, a bit out of touch? Ditto Montblanc. No issue with Pilot. While I preferred the Knight to the Metro, both strike me as excellent entry level pens. In fact, it was a Knight that convinced me to try a next level pen.
I did buy an earlier Visconti entry level offering--a Breeze--and thought it was a decent pen, but overpriced at $100. Seems the market agrees because those models are now available on eBay for as little as $40 new. Just gotta wonder about Visconti's marketing department.
