Fun fact: you can be farsighted and still have 20/20 vision (or even better) without glasses. This usually happens to young adults with farsightedness who have a low prescription. Those people wear glasses not to have a better sight but to stop straining their eyes and get rid of headaches, muscle pain, tiredness, etc.
I'm sorry, but Fruit without glasses is kind of a cursed image at this point since we've pretty much only seen him with them on 😂 I still remember one of his old Q&A videos where he got asked to take them off and he baited us. Still model status tbh

I stan the dream team. I'm not saying yall are my heros or that your above everyone els in my life. But yall even though through a screen yall are apart of it. You all unknowing to yourselves helped me through dark times and not gonna get into to much detail but it's like I could be having a really bad day everything dark, but then I might catch a new video or even a old one and its able to brighten my day even just a little bit. And trust me that little bit can make all the difference in someone's life. So I'm a med student, and I'm hear to answer the 20/20 conundrum.
So when we say 20/20 it means you can see what a person with normal vision can see at 20 feet.
so for example if you were 15/20 it means you can see what a person with 20/20 vision can see but at 15 feet away. and so forth. hope that makes sense

I work for optometrists and listening to you gentleman try to discuss eyeballs gave me more joy than I care to admit.
Trivia for Rob: 20/20 = a person sees the same line of letters at 20 feet as the average value for eyesight. 20/30 is what a "normal" person would see at 30 feet.
Since I’m in the business of selling and making glasses, I can’t resist making a comment about that particular tangent: the 20/20 scale tests visual acuity (basically how clear things are), not your actual prescription for your glasses. Most people are corrected to 20/20, which is why eye doctors use that chart. But they are two very different systems!
Also the first number is always 20, and refers to what you can see at 20 feet. The second number is what distance someone who doesn’t need glasses has to be at to see the same object. The highest it typically goes is 20/200, which refers to the biggest letter on the chart.

I think the big draw of streaming is the real-time experience. It's like the best interactive movie ever, and for those of us who are more introverted, it's a way to feel like we're having an authentic social experience, but with the control and distance that we need.
My favorite streams are the group streams, pretty much regardless of the combinations. It seems like a certain combination of personalities makes for an engaging experience. I don't think anybody has figured out how to pre-select for that group dynamic, but youse sure seem to have found something that works.
The reason you can focus like that Mr. Fruit, is because you stretch the muscles in your eye to center the light into your retina. The headaches are caused by the continuous stress on the muscles and the connections that run through your head.

Just an FYI that’s now what the numbers for eyesight mean. How it works is that the top number is the distance that you can see from and still focus, and then the bottom number is what the medical industry considers average/normal. So 20/20 would mean you see at 20 meters what the average person also sees at 20 meters. 20/10 means you can see from 20 meters what the normal person can only see from 10 meters (aka you have better vision). 10/20 means you can only see from 10 meters away what the normal person can actually see from 20 meters (aka you have worse vision). There are no negative numbers either, that’s for lend themselves, vision ratio cannot be negative. Just wanted to let you guys know what I have learned during my anatomy courses :) love the podcast, keep it up!
I don’t remember getting glasses, but apparently I was performing so poorly in school early on that I was tested for learning disabilities. Turns out, I just couldn’t see anything...

super common unfortunately, since kids can't really tell that their vision isn't optimal (pun intended)
exact same thing for me, my vision was as bad as datto's when i first got glasses in the 3rd grade lol. you would think that would be pretty obvious.
I've lived with glasses my whole life and I can't do anything without them, even after getting multiple operations I'm gonna have to live with them for my whole life and even then my vision is still deteriorating so I know im going to be blind in the future but for now I'll stick with the glasses for as long as I can because for me they are a blessing. It's either migrane and throwing up constantly or glasses.

I know I’m watching this way later than the episode aired but I want rob to know that I have had glasses since third grade, and I genuinely to this day at age 26, remember the exact moment I first put my glasses on!!
it was to the point in class where I would like hold my eyes in any kind of slanted position because my eyes were so tired of squinting so I would like force them to be squinted for long periods of time in order to read the chalkboard… So I got glasses and I remember when my pair came -
I put them on for the first time outside and it was outside of my parents minivan, and I looked at the trees across the street and it was the first time I ever saw the details of each individual leaf.
I remember being amazed and actually feeling in awe because of how beautiful it looked and how beautiful nature was in general. I didn’t know before, I didn’t see all the fine details and that really did stay with me so … IN CONCLUSION it was not dumb question.

I hate to sound like a boomer, but wine appreciation comes with age. Revisit this podcast in 10 - 15 years. It will also be good for Datto and Fruit to remember what life was like before laser eye surgery, and for you all to marvel at the sheer amount of times you use the word "literally....". Love you guys, keep up the good work.

I agree on Blue so much on the non-sub views contribution at 1:41:45 mark. It's soo much effort to log in especially with 2FA on. It's way way WAY easier to just type the keywords out like "mr fruit ttt, datto, bluewestlo or rhabbyvragemoment" because the channel/highlight moments made a bigger impression that I remember your names/personality by heart.

20:20 vision essentially means that at 20 feet, you can read what an average human can read at 20 feet. 20:30 would mean you have poorer vision because you’re seeing at 20 what most see at 30. 20:15 would be better vision because you can see at 20 what most people see at 15.
It’s a system entirely based on averages.

No idea what your editing process is, but you can use a compressor/limiter to normalize audio levels (make them the same throughout). You may still need to do some things manually, but most of the process should be automatic with those tools. You can also use a noise gate to remove unwanted quiet noises (like mouth and throat noises).

Rhabby's question about glasses had me rolling lmao. But he has a point, in my memory it's like the glasses have become a part of me.. It's weird that only his question managed to point that out.
The reason you "see double" when you unfocus your eyes is b/c you have binocular vision: your eyes aren't looking at objects from the exact same location, they're looking at everything from a slight angle from each other (b/c there's distance between your eyes). Your brain resolves things that are "in focus" by making it appear as "one" object, but when you focus on something at a different distance, the object appears as "two" things b/c your brain just overlaps the different visual information from two different locations.
This is the exact mechanism that the Nintendo 3DS takes advantage of to fool your brain into seeing 3D on a 2D screen: it projects two different images (simulating the two different perspectives your eyes would normally see) on the screen at same time in a way so that certain pixels are seen by either the left or right eye, and your brain is tricked into resolving it as 3D. But since it's not an actual 3D object, it also messes with your brain so you might get headaches depending on how intense the 3D effect is (hense why the 3DS allows you to adjust or disable the 3D-ness).

My parents are optometrists and I work at their practice so to answer Rob’s question 20/20 is your visual acuity which is a fraction to show how well a person can see based on a set standard. So 20/20 means you can see letter or numbers at 20 feet easily and if someone sees 20/40 that means they see things at 40 feet away clearly that normal people see at 20 feet. That number can go up to 300 and down to 10.
