- Slave Trading (1999): We look at Sudan, one of the most notorious slave states. Here slavery is widely used as a weapon of war by the Muslim north against the Christian and animist south.

In the ruins of a burnt-out village lie the heaped, rotting bodies of slaves who tried to escape the northern raiders who stalk the southern Sudan. Slavery here has killed thousands of people; the survivors have horrific tales to tell. Matihiane and her children were captured a year ago. They were marched for 10 days, given food mixed with sand and urine, beaten if they slowed and sent to work. On arriving with her new master, he forcibly circumcised her. Such inhumanity has led many to come to the aid of the southern Sudanese. Baroness Cox is the most controversial. Sitting with the slavers in the shade of a tree, she exchanges greetings and begins to barter for the human booty. Today, $325,000 changes hands for the freedom of 325 slaves. While her solution offers immediate salvation for the few, it could also be responsible for the rising number of slave raids. The UN and other humanitarian agencies will not work with her. Yet she remains adamant; "It would go on whether we were here or not, it isn't going to change the war." Even for the slaves she frees though, liberty comes with no guarantees. The only thing that can buy their peace of mind is an end to the war.

I understand that whites had a hand in slavery during colonial times, but not without the help of the slaves fellow Africans. Apparently it still holds true today.
Your simplistic view is always used to make the white buying of human beings less evil. Just as European slavery was done by different tribes, so was/is African slavery. Stop using this false narrative as an excuse to lessen white involvement in this evil trade. No one forced Europeans to travel to Africa and buy human beings.

The European slave trade created large scale trade networks that made slaves an extremely lucrative commodity. The scale of slavery in Africa was driven in large part by the weapons and industrialized goods the Europeans brought to exchange for slaves. This environment made it so African leaders must engage in and expand their slaving lest they be overrun by their neighbors who are also acquiring imported weapons. Very similar to the current situation in the Congo where the global need for its raw materials is driving violence and funding warlords.

The organizations contact the Arabs neighbor and offer him money in exchange for free the children the Arabs agree and take the money. Then the south Sudanese goes back to his Arabs neighbor and take his cut from the money, but then again the organization itself is taking it is cut. It is all scam and pyramid scam. The people on the not for profit organization know well it is all scam, but they know themselves that they also scamming the Europe citizen and if not this scheme they will be unemployed. I have seen those not for profit employees and chief executive officers vacation in Kenya and Djibouti in a very expensive hotels. The white man is just pure evil. Now they separated south Sudan from north Sudan, now the joke is that they claim now south sundaes them practice slavery that the educated enslave the uneducated.
They destroyed Sudan, they separated Eritrea from Ethiopia, they turned Somali land, a once thriving country, to a human a butcher shop. Well slave raiding involves kidnapping, right. I reckon in Sudan enslavement (or servitude, however they may eufemism it) has never been fully out of use .
It was abolished in 1903, by pressure of the British. But no doubt that with installment of sharia in Sudan, it became more common again. As under Sharia Law it is 'allowed' to enslave non-muslims.
This area of the world has been destabilized by war terrorism etc and as such slavery has raised it's nasty head and slavery is terrible in all it's forms but chattel slavery was arguably the worst and it's back in Libya Sudan and other places in north Africa middle east and parts of Asia
