I had the privilege of seeing these guys at a venue that had a capacity of 400. Only 250 showed up. I was leaning on stage literally inches from the band. I got multiple mic grabs and was absolutely blown away by their stage presence.
when he at 6:30 plays this long note you mean? With this he actualy shows what a great player he is. He already mastered the technique of circular breathing which is astonishing. Look at his mouth what he's doing. It takes a LOT of practice to do it. He's a great player and i believe this band will make a name for themselves.
If I were there I would enjoy a very talented musician showcasing their talent. Why would a person pay to see an artist hold back. He is great and tries to give everyone a good show, keyword SHOW! Should he showcase his talent to his band at rehearsal or to the world that appreciates seeing and hearing it? Circular breathing only works LIVE that's the object to entertain the audience it would be stupid on a recording. After all, its a RUclips video of a LIVE show. why are you watching it? Go SEE
Love that electric guitar player and the whole band. Play on, play on, play on. And please come to Oklahoma and soon, we have a deep duce in okc. And a jazz festival in June every year. Please. Come and play for us okies.
In one of interviews Trombone Shorty says that's take 20 minutes to take this technique. Next day he plays one note for 37 minutes and then he had stopped beating records)
Circular breathing is not easy, framboo please load a video of you doing the circular breathing technique and explain it for the rest of us like myself who have been playing for 15+ years and have yet to master it.
If you seriously find circular breathing easy i MUST know your secret. PLEASE tell me, I have been trying to learn it for ages and just can not get it down.
Its called circular breathing and its a technique really hard to do, man. I understand he exagerared showing off but cmon... you can aways skip foward ;-)
1st, You do know what I meant by 'forever' right? 2nd, Erm ok don't tell me you didn't get bored after listening to that for more than a minute? His sound was already shaking like crazy. 3rd, cause the other parts are good, only that part was just overdone. And aren't you also doing the same by commenting here? This is what the comments are for... I was neither promoting any form of music nor doing any harm to the music industry, so I don't see why I'm a stupid bastard. Get a life, don't troll.
You have to admit that the circular breathing was kind of an unnecessary hot shot thing to do. It got pretty annoying after the first time through the "A" section.
I don't agree. This long note is not very musical (or melodious) and the circular breathing technique is not that much difficult to perform ! So why doing it ?
He is a great player and of course circular breathing is hard, but it is just one technique...one note played at forte with no musical line and inconsistent intonation for a good part of a song/piece, how could the audience not get bored of that. Circular breathing should never be used like that. EVER.
This has nothing to do with being a great player. Any high school player is capable of this if they just sit down and work at it for a few hours. I was surprised how fast I was able to become decent at it. Haven't did it in probably 5 years because it's so inconsequential. Kenny G is the most famous for using this gimmick. He's a great musician and this is a great performance, but I agree that the circle breathing was the least interesting and interrupted the flow of the music.

This kid is on his way to being one of the best since Satchmo.

Why do you ruin the song by playing one note forever...
technically awesome, musically boring..
Maybe, but it's still boring
TheQuintus0 who cares what you think. I think you are boring.
