Great video.
Two things
1. Barrels definitely not bear proof. Keep a clean camp and take the barrel well away from camp at night. I’ve seen people string them up trees but my experience (and that of many others) is simply getting the barrel well away from camp and relatively hidden is enough.
2. You can have 9 people on a site in Algonquin.
A great section of the park, and a well done video.
Love your videos!! I am buying my first kayak for my 65th birthday. Thanks for all I have learned from your videos.
Great to hear, and thanks for the kind words!
Ken’s videos are simply the best. Very informative for novices and pros alike. Thanks for doing such a great job!
Thanks so much John!
Fantastic video on this section of the river! What a great new resource. Thank you 🤘
Glad you enjoyed it! I was hoping people would find it useful. Stay tuned... we have a handful more coming out this spring/summer.
@@PaddleTV Can't wait!!!
breathtaking. thanks a lot
I've canoed this section of the river (plus the upstream section from Cedar Lake). This remains one of the best pleasures in my life.
Mine too! I haven't canoed the upstream section yet. I'm dying too! I did whitewater kayak it at high water by hiking up the railroad from Traverse Lake, but that was just a day trip, and I only made it about half way to Cedar Lake before launching.
So informative,thanks
You're welcome!
Just awesome! Much of love 💚
Thank you so much!
@@PaddleTV I wish you all the best, and I hope Ken Whiting will share know how to paddle with family and recommend paddle gear for kids. 🙌🏻💚
This was so informative and very interesting. I remember watching the original video thinking are they crazy taking that raft. Very much enjoyed this and looking forward to more.😘
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video! Thank you!
Happy to help!
Wow thank you so much
You’re welcome 😊
Amazing.
It truly is a magical place!
Good video. Well done. Thanks
Very well done. Very informative. Thankyou
Cheers!
Thank you for the excellent video. I recently stumbled across your channel and am very much enjoying watching your videos!
Earlier this year I went on an outward bound trip on canoes down the petewawa. The natch was the most beautiful place on the river. Also the campsite at the natch that you guys stayed at was the same as ours
The producer/editor on these vids is/are really talented. Thanks, Ken. 🙂👍
Thank you Brian! We certainly have fun making them!
They are very professional! Makes me forget I'm watching RUclips and not a TV show.
Sehr schönes Video und sehr stimmungsvoll präsentiert. Grüße ronactive
This has been extremely helpful! Planning adventure training for a team. Sounds like a phenomenal experience
Glad it's been helpful! You're going to love it... a true wilderness gem.
I guess the section from Daisy Lake to Cedar Lake must have dried up as no mention of it here. Happens to be my favorite.
Thanks for the great video and a lot of helpful information! By any chance are you planning on doing a paddling guide of Petawawa River from Cedar Lake to Lake Travers?
I would love to do that paddling guide! I haven't actually done that whole section yet. I've hiked up the rail bed with my whitewater kayak to run the core whitewater section of it, but I can't wait to run the Petawawa from Cedar lake all the way to McManus Lake!
@@PaddleTV Much appreciate your reply! I am hoping to paddle Cedar Lake to Lake Travers and Lake Travers to Lake McManus this year, so any information is really helpful. And special thank you for recommending Petawawa river whitewater guide on Algonquin Outfitters website and water level gauge. This is going to help me a lot!
How is cell phone reception. I’m asking both for safety and to give my ride home a heads up on a pick up time!
Hey, Great video! Can you tell me what were your top three lures you used to catch Muskie on the Petawawa?
I've had the most luck with a big, weedless spoon (silver or gold), buzzing a frog on the surface, and a Sebile Magic Swimmer (hard bait)
Love the video! What is the map book you guys have at 3:29min? And where can i buy one ?thanks
I believe this is it: store.algonquinpark.on.ca/cgi/algonquinpark/00025.html
How was the experience of portaging the trails carrying the raft and kayaks? Did it take 2 people to carry together? I'd love to figure out a way to over head carry my kayak like a canoe.
We actually didn't have to do any portaging with the kayaks or rafts. We ran them through all the rapids. All three of us are long time whitewater paddlers, and so we were very comfortable doing that. I can tell you that it would have been pretty crappy to portage the sit-on-top kayaks or the raft. That's the joy of the canoe... it's easy to portage and carry gear.
Love the series. Btw...why don’t you say por-taage?
Ha! Good question... the majority of our viewers are American, and I got tired of getting harassed for saying it that way. :) I say it both ways, depending on who I'm speaking with.
Fair enough eh🙂
i guess it is kinda randomly asking but does anybody know a good website to stream newly released tv shows online?
@Phillip Derek try FlixZone. You can find it by googling =)
@Mathew Wesson Definitely, been using Flixzone for since march myself =)
Hey I’m a big fisherman and my family is probably going to do this river in mid-august any tips for baits like for the musky or in the river?
We had the best luck for musky with Sebile magic swimmers, and weedless rigged swim baits for the weedy spots. Caught a lot of bass on them too!
@@PaddleTV ok thanks a lot
What brand name and model of raft did you use?
The raft is made by NRS. They make GREAT stuff. This particular raft is discontinued, but it was replaced with the Otter 140 self bailing raft. www.nrs.com/product/1142/nrs-otter-140-self-bailing-raft
@@PaddleTV Thanks for the quick response. I have just noticed that NRS makes high quality raft and kayak. The one shown on the video was field tested and demonstrated it rigidity.
We just finished posting on our channel about a small section of the Petawawa River that we paddled! This was some great information and is seriously making us miss the Park right now during this lockdown. Thanks for sharing, a big thumbs up from fellow creators! Check us out when you get the chance.
Glad you enjoyed it. Just checked out your channel. Great vids! Look forward to seeing more.
@@PaddleTV thanks so much, our channel is relatively new and young, but it has been a ton of fun being creative during this current lockdown. We hope to constantly improve our content and eventually get up there with your caliber of video.
