This video is great, after 40 years of not riding a mat, which I was hugely into along with my girlfriends in the 70's, I've taken it up again, the one I'm using is a just a kids one so I've lashed out and bought a krypt, never to old or too young at heart to surf and ride a mat, so much fun, cant wait to get mine!
Couple days ago I saw this surf mat thing and thought it was some sort of a spoof, and the video was sped up. But after binging surf mats on RUclips I realized it’s a real thing, and it looks really really fun! This totally has the soul feel, like surfing did back in the 60s and early 70s.
Excellent video! SPEED is the 1st thing that comes to mind. I'm a long time hard board surfer but I get tired of the same old hack and slash airshow surf vids, so I really enjoy something different like this one. There are so many forms of surfing that don't get the recognition they deserve. These guys rip!
Surfing is all about drawing lines. If you can surf a mat with these lines you can surf. Don"t knock it till you Prove you can. I'm still Trying. Absolutely awesome. Thank you.

Im so hungry for surf mat info right now... ive got potentially irreparable damage to my hamstring the only thing it really stops is backhand surfing but this could be the replacement for those waves that i dont wanna quit riding!! So sick!
Strained my ACL 9 months go, still troubling me. Taken to lying on a longboard wearing a tillers knee pad over the wetsuit, anything to be on the wave. Maybe I need a mat
Ruptured my ACL, fractured femur, tore meniscus and some other damage. Rehabbed for a year after surgery and this summer discover the magic surf mat. Loving it for the knee, so much easier on it than knee boarding and just loads and gobs of fun. Can see myself doing this for the long haul. 🙂
Man everything about mat riding seems counter intuitive. Less air and it's faster??? It looks like he has turbo acceleration mode. Kooks can't drop in on you cause the mat has the ability to put the hammer down and blow past anyone.
Paddling out and duck diving are exhausting on a surf mat, only the ride itself is comfortable. Plus there is no leash so when you are caught inside you don't have the luxury to let it go and dive. If I was handicap, I would rather use a bodyboard or maybe an epoxy paipo, easier to duck dive.
I’m a 38 yr veteran Rincon River 🐀 i was taken out by a 22’fall at work doin 85 MPH in a 25 zone🤷🏾♂️my arms go straight into the head injury🤷🏾♂️I’d been Ridin old School rope lined mats since i wasabi 15 greenough influence! But I was 62 when old Friend Mr Gross and Local Shaper got 1 to me🙌🏼been outa the water 10 yrs😿straight back to Queens River usually 2 to 4 ft high tide. Awesome!😸But got out in sum 6 ft days😳no rope!😹started pitching it over 6 ft off white water then realized deflate completly 6 ft no more problems! Maybe exaggerating on the no problem Thang! I am tore from the floor up!🤷🏾♂️😹🙋🏽♂️✌️
