    Very Impressive Plum Production. I have several fruit trees (20) Varieties include Apple, Pear, Plum and Cherry. I've never used anything on them except compost and manure. I'm very excited about the success you've had with the Weekly Feed and I plan to follow suite exactly this year. How often are you watering this plum tree?

    if you want larger healthier plums. i suggest thinning the fruit to about a hands distance from eachother. this will prevent crowding as well as help the tree send nourishment to a smaller yeild which will then help growth. nice tree though, just giving you a thought.

    yea i have really noticed a difference in the taste in our veggies once i started adding more minerals to the garden.
    Have you tried to poke 12" holes around the drip line of your fruit trees and feed them via those holes? Its good to do a good deep root feeding. it also helps loosen the soil and allow more water to get down deeper in the dirt.

    I just planted 2 plum trees and 2 grapefruit according to your bare root planting video. i used osmocote which I have used for 30 years. I even took a deep breath and pruned them back. When should I begin using my Mittleider fertilizer? Thanks and love your videos. Also, do you think if you fertilized a little less often you may get fewer but larger plums?

    • @LDSPrepper
      @LDSPrepper 10 лет назад

      I love the size of these plums because you can pop one in your mouth and it fills your mouth. I found it important to do that. If you bite it it squirts juice all over. I don't think I would want them any larger. I would apply the Mittleider weekly feed and preplant fertilizer at planting time then every 3-4 months afterwards. See my video "How to fertilize fruit trees" for more info.

    Oh crap! I keep forgetting to fertilize and am behind. I'd like you to talk about brown rot (on my apricots) and powdery mildew.( on my grape vine). The leaves on the apricot tree get white mold or mildew on them mid-season. It also has sap balls that come from it on certain branches. The poor tree seems sick. My grapevine gets fungi growing from the trunk, which I know isn't a good sign. This is yr two and it is still producing a lot of grapes. I let the canes grow long and plentiful (thinning the leaves for air flow) because the grapes are so delicious I am greedy and want more ;-).

    Minerals are important for our health and make produce taste much better. I appreciate this video for exposing this fact. At one point in our history, ashes (actually mineral content left from burning wood) was used extensively in agriculture. That is what kept our soil from becoming depleted. You don't have to spend money on expensive products to obtain these minerals. Just add wood ashes around your plants early in the season.

    How do you find the difference between Mittleider gardening and the Back to Eden method you have done? Or do you incorporate both?

    • @LDSPrepper
      @LDSPrepper 10 лет назад

      Thank you for asking. I found all my plants in the BTE method were puny and produced little or no fruit because they were starved for nutrients. I find my plants in the Mittleider method huge, healthy, and producing amazing amounts of wonderful fruit. I'm not married to any gardening method. But I have found that the Mittleider method produces the best tasting and most abundant produce with the least amount of work and cost. I encourage you to look into it at MittleiderGardening.com.

    • @Pastaboy7
      @Pastaboy7 10 лет назад

      LDSPrepper
      Is there a way to make your own fertilizer that Mittleeider has patent?
      Also, have you heard a method called "Sonic Bloom" by Dan Carlson who is the inventor of the Sonic Bloom system? Your thoughts, if so?
      In your opinion is the Back To Eden still worth it to reduce watering and incorporating the Mittleider method?

    • @LDSPrepper
      @LDSPrepper 10 лет назад

      Mario Greco For everyone's benefit Jacob Mittleider did not patent the nutrient mix. It is no secret. The recipe for you to mix yourself is in the Mittleider Gardening Course book. Please do NOT mix the Mittleider method with any other method. If you do you are not using the Mittleider method. If you change the recipe don't expect to get the same results.

    • @Pastaboy7

      I have a back to Eden Garden. Can I use the Mittleider method on the BTE method or is it just too much?

    • @TheKingdomWorks
      @TheKingdomWorks 9 лет назад

      Mario Greco He tried the BTE method and it did not work for him. He has videos where he shows his results. If you have been doing BTE for a while you can see where he fell short in the method. As far as incorporating both, You can install a drip system like he has to make sure you are getting enough water. Also, you can add a fertilizer at regular intervals, but if you are with the BTE philosophy, it would have to be from a sustainable resource like your own compost and animal manure. Like LDSPrepper said mixing methods isn't really possible. the results will be dependent on your area and what you have to work with. BTE does take time if you are starting with dead soil. Mittleider will give you consistent results from the beginning it seems. I have been to Paul's garden and although there is some work involved, he has a complete and sustainable system that works where he is. I have figured out that I don't have chickens or another "soil factory" so I have to settle for buying fertilizer until that changes. Do what you can do

I'm guessing most have never heard of the Mittleider gardening method. I am doing my best to help people become prepared or even saving lives. I feel it very important to have the skills to grow your own food. As you know I have tried many gardening methods all with some success. But hands down the Mittleider gardening method out produces all the others. I am compelled to share it so others can benefit. I appreciate your understanding. I hope with each video there are nuggets of information that my long time subscribers can use.

    • @Backyardhomesteader

      It may out produce for you but I still find growing using leaves and moo poo works best for me. It is the way mother nature intended us to grow. I have dark rich soil loaded with worms. I use no made made chemicals and have great success every year. I challenge you to garden with what mother nature provides. Heck I will even furnish the seeds. I think the biggest problem I have is when you say stuff about the Mittleider you make it sound like if we don't use it we won't have success, kinda like my way or the highway so to speak. I feel you are misleading people. Especially new gardeners. I live my life to help others and try and get everyone to enjoy the love I have for gardening. I have been at it some 30 years now. Go outside the box and look back in and maybe you will see what I see. I try not to judge anyone for the way they garden, I am happy they are just gardening. But then again I don't push my style on anyone i just try to show my results and they can choose. I hope you have a Blessed Day.

    Do you know what kind of plum and blackberry plants you planted? I read the comments below and that question has come up a few times but I didn't notice an answer.

    One of my peach trees has gummosis, and I'm SO upset. It's my biggest producer, so I think I'll mourn my loss. Going to wait to cut it down until I harvest the peaches from it. :(

    the secret to improve all plant quality and growth is magnesium. Take a small handfull of your favourite bath salts - yep that's right ! EPSOM SALTS - add it to 5 litres (or 1 1/2 gallons) of water then water the soil around the trunk - or stem. Do Not water the plant - don't pour it onto the stem or trunk. it will take a bout a month but you'll never see anything as amazing as the quality and health of those plants - doesn't matter what plants - fruit trees definitely - but almost any plant will brighten up with the glow of magnesium.

      When you have a tree that is loaded with blossoms, then sets a huge amount of fruit, you are SUPPOSED to remove many of the green ones so that you don't stress the tree, and so that the fruit remaining on the tree is larger and fuller. It does not appear that was done in this video. People who go to markets are extremely picky. If they see a fruit that is smaller than they perceive it should be, they won't buy it. By removing the overload of green fruit, you assure yourself of having a reasonable crop next year. Many fruit trees have a rest period after one year of a heavy crop.

    And one more thing, since the Big Agra-business took over of farming America, they don't do the due diligence of preparing the soil for planting, maybe some high-powered Miracle Grow chemical but it's not nature, trace elements & minerals are and we see that with weaker harvests, the vegetables are not as nutritious in years past. Every single trace element & mineral should be found in the ground, & except for the three in the air, where else are you going to find them? Adding trace elements & mineral is good for the body & the immunity.

    Your fruit could be bigger and better if you opened up your tree more and tipped your fruiting wood, you wouldn't need to thin so much fruit off either that way.

      Jared Hempfield, when you say "tip your fruiting wood" are you talking about heading back new growth? If yes, what time of year are you doing this?

    Like the old saying goes you can a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Proof is in every video LDS Prepper has put up. I have tried every which way to have a garden & have FAILED miserably, I have the "Black Thumb" for a reason, if it grows in my yard, I kill it. I have put up flowers in my front yard and in no time at all, DEAD! This system give me hope that if LDS Prepper can do it, so can I, and if anyone can see from the videos then you're just a horse that won't drink.
