Are you drawing all of these yourself and then scanning the drawings into the computer? All of your videos are so easy to understand and beautifully written.
I know this was 13 years ago (wow that's crazy) but yes, all of these were hand drawn and scanned to create this video! (source: this is my mom's channel, and I helped color many of the illustations in. 😅)
i have a question as like with the rise of corporate citizenship initiative such as the United nation global compact, should the country's government reduce the regulation and restrictions on the businesses?
This shows why it's so dangerous to have a political system with 2 or 3 big parties, where everybody can give an unlimited amount of money to politicians. Clans of private sector segments with a bad international comparative advantage can force politicians to do their bidding. This means a less cost-effective world economy. The result is a state of international distrust between nations who could help each other out. It's so easy to do. The politician with the most money wins almost all the time, so a private sector segment only needs to back the opposition. How can you expect politicians to work for international economic cooperation if the election system slows cooperation down so hard?
Don't you also need to consider your workforce utilisation curve? For example, if you take imports to their conclusion there's a situation where you can't produce anything competitively vs the world price and you have no capacity for domestic production at all. With a GDP in the toilet you wouldn't have any cash to buy foreign products and no domestic production to make what you need either.
Another thing that I don't like about free trade is how it allows big cooperations to empower communist countries like China. China is the only country that big cooperations can do business with because since they are communist they have full control over their economies so they have the power manipulate the value of their currency. I find it funny how republicans and the corporations that support them preach about capitalism as if it's so great, but at the same time become rich off the backs communist nations like china. The workers are treated like dogs in a puppy mill. They even commit suicide because the working conditions are so poor. The only way America has been able to sustain this failed economy policy of free trade is by burrowing money to pay for the the social services that support the people that have lost their jobs. If the the politicians didn't do this then the people that lost their would riot on the streets. The failed economic policy is going to come to end real soon. Think for yourself and don't politicians fool you. This is country is in big trouble and the only ones that we have to blame are the misguided people like the woman in this videos and corrupt politicians.
This is what I don't understand about people and their support for free trade. Their argument is that the consumer lose because they can't purchase goods at a lower power price. I disagree with this argument and here's why, let's say I need a new car and I own a pizza shop in a city that is known for manufacturing steel. Then a free trade agreement is signed and all the steel manufacturing companies go over seas. Then all of the steal manufacturing employees in my city get laid off. Yes the price of the vehicles will go down, but I still won't be able to afford those vehicles, even at the lower price. My business is going to suffer because my customers lost their jobs so I don't see the woman in this videos point when she says that the consumers lose. I feel like when free trade didn't exist we actually were better off. Yes things did cost a little more but people had jobs and the more people that had jobs the better off this country was. America was only able to rise to power like China is right now by exporting goods. If everyone had a job we wouldn't need obamacare and so many people wouldn't be on food stamps.
You realise that you're only talking about the short term. Free-trade allows greater competition, productivity and efficiency. This increases flexibility in resources. This means your customers have a greater chance of getting another job.
Thanks for dedicating time to do all of this.. it really helps me in studying.
Thank you again :)
I'm in love with this woman's voice

@SunBeamsan Indeed!
Protectionism in the market benefits the few politically connected a the cost of the consumer.
my economic teacher always talks about u lol
I think carbon fiber mass production might be the next big thing. It already started out in Japan and hopefully the US will follow suit.
Wait I admit I skipped a couple of episodes.
Why is foreign goods cheaper and why does the domestic industries struggle to compete.
@sdgsdf45 Ricardo's point exactly.

@mnelson53 That's exactly what I'm doing!
In a real free market, failing or uncompetitive companies should go bankrupt. Then, human resource can be relocated to better areas.

+Potato Sack Tariffs of around 10 percent doesn't sound too bad.
Would it increase revenue and foreign companies can still make a profit?
