Interlude 53 is like a old fine cognac. It’s has weight and body and consistency of taste. It doesn’t change or goes into different stage. It’s constant from start to finish.
I just bought Beaufort London 1805 Tonnerre and that is a beast of a smoke bomb. Bitter lime, smoke, and aquatic notes. How can you go wrong? It's such a beautiful fragrance. I also own many more from the house and I can attest that they are all so amazingly well done. I'm surprised not many people know about them

You should do a popular designer scents alternatives video! take the popular designer scents list you made a couple days ago and than some artsier or more niche fragrances that newbs like me should check out if we like a certain fragrance. often I have no way to try these colognes unless blindbuying, spending a fortune on samples or going somewhere like a nordstorms to try designers and comparing the notes
"Mysterious" can be strangely sweet yet somehow deep and "serious", too. At least, that's my newbie-amateur experience from my meager collection (about 20 fragrances). Fitting that profile to me are YSL Homme de la Nuit and Mauboussin M Generation. I am happy to report, too, that I concur with you on Geoffrey Beene's Grey Flannel. (I finally got to Texas to pick up all these things I'd ordered.) I know immediately why Grey Flannel is such a love-or-hate scent. But I like it. Yes, one might say it first hits you with a "garbage dumpster in the summer" stink...if that's how your olfactory equipment interprets it. But then, fine wines are sometimes compared to cat pee, too, so there you go. But I have given it a fair shot at proving itself to me, and it does. It settles down to something incredibly dignified and cozy, like the library of an old English manor, with dried flowers in the vases. It makes you...a safe, inviting, mature "place" for others. But not in summer. Definitely not in summer.

Nice vid Sebastian, love these thematic videos. Zoologist T-Rex is one of the most challenging frags to wear. It also changes with the climate, when it's hot it's more leathery and in cold it's more fresh spicy. Barbeque is a good way to describe this, to my nose it's mostly about the spices, the scent reminds me of Tiger Balsam or Vicks Vaporub. I have gotten compliments when wearing this but at the same time would not be surprised if it is repulsive to some people. Compared to T-Rex, something like Laudano Nero is easy frag. Also have gotten a lot of compliments for that one, actually good charismatic date frag LOL. Go figure 😀
Amouage Opus vii from library collection is also a dark offering from the house. I would say Chambre noir is also dark enough but not smokey. Loved the list of fragrances and learnt some new ones. Thanks for this list "The Perfume guy"
I have never tried a smoky fragrance but I want to now. I think the smokiest fragrance I have is Tea for Two - well it has a smoky smell to me. I am going to explore some more incense smoky fragrances though. Thank you for the recommendations.
By the way, and sorry if this isn't on topic, but thinking about your earlier videos on layering. I'm experimenting with two obsessively linear fragrances, to see whether they can add welcome nuance to each other. They are Karl Lagerfeld's Bois d'Ambre, which is all amber and nothing but, and Eau Sauvage EDT, which is a 45-minute total lemon bomb after which it is nothing but the reminiscence of lemons (disappointing both for its monotonous simplicity and awful weakness; I hope to try the stronger version, however). And so, I am seeing what happens when a shot of Eau Sauvage is added over the Bois d'Ambre. Jury's still out but the early returns are promising. The Bois d'Ambre underneath seems to strengthen Eau Sauvage's weak knees, and the Eau Sauvage on top seems to force some subtlety on the Bois d'Ambre, so it's not amber-in-your-FACE. Instead of just amber or just lemon staring you smack in the face, there is actually a chemistry going on there.
I just thought of the best job in the world (aside from being a mattress reviewer for product testing market research companies): naming fragrances. Wouldn't that be just so much fun? To be in a small team analysing fragrances and eventually coming up with the best names. 😂
HYDE by Hiram Green is the all natural amazing perfume. Dark and Mysterious and IMO tops several on this list that I have smelled. Also FUMIDUS from Profumum Roma … if you dare to wear

You've got to check it out.

Fire list.. powerful scents for winter 👌🏼 If anyone likes Bois Sikar, but think it's a bit too much, try Bois d'ascese by Naomi Goodsir. Easier wear. Moon Dust & Dahab by MiN New York, Private Label by Jovoy, and Typewriter by Parfumerie Particuliere.. very dark and smoky scents as well.
Do you have a Cannabis-Fragrance list; it don't have to be direct in your Face Cannabis note like it is used in the Fragrance Du Bois perfumes. I mean for instance, Chanel's "Sycomore" or Lalique's "Encre Noir a L 'Extreme" reminds me of Cannabis..I don't no why :-) Thanks a lot...

TRex is very interesting. I can never really discern what I'm smelling, and it's extremely long lasting!

Thank you for this video! If you love T-Rex by Zoologist, you should try LITA by Bogue. It's the samer perfumer and even darker.
I have tried LiTA it's quite good but I find T-Rex darker as I find the gardenia note to brighten that fragrance.
