  • Let’s get clear: Debt freedom does NOT equal wealth.
    .
    Debt freedom is A goal, debt freedom is not THEE goal for your money, growing what wealth looks like for you is
    .
    THE STEPS
    .
    1. Create a Debt List
    .
    2. Activate a pay-down plan, then set it and semi-forget it: Snowball, Avalanche, and UM
    3. Focus on Earning
    ----------
    HOMEWORK: Take action within 24 hours makes your goals more likely to happen.
    .
    1.Create a Debt List. Use a spreadsheet or a sheet of paper. Add: who you owe, how much you owe, minimum monthly payment, due date, interest rate and status
    .
    2. Activate a paydown plan, then set it and semi-forget it.
    Use the Snowball (prioritize the lowest balance debt), Avalanche (prioritize the balance with the highest interest rate), and UM (unexpected money: any money not received from your normal income source, or money you didn’t anticipate saving. ex. A raise, tax refund, a sale, a gift, a pay back, when someone treats you)
    .
    3. Focus on earning! The fastest way to pay down debt is to make more, not spend less. There’s no cap on what you can make. There is a cap on how much you can cut back and save.
    ----------

    I know Dave Ramsey says have $1000 in a emergency fund before we start tackling debt. What do you think is more important maybe having three months of expenses before handling debt?

    Someone told me you shouldn't pay the debt off on your credit. Is that true or untrue...and if we do pay it off how long do it shows on our credit

    • @kenesa
      @kenesa 3 года назад

      You need to pay it off in full by the due date or pay above the minimum; I like using my credit card for rewards/points but I don't pay interest because I like paying mine off as I use it. Basically if you don't have the cash in your bank don't put it on your credit.

    • @denisegholston1838

      Thank you but I was talking about On my credit report not credit card

    • @ashafreeman2730
      @ashafreeman2730 3 года назад

      Pay it and ask the creditor for a pay to delete. If not it won’t help your score much. If you pay it and they remove it, it’ll still stay on your credit and the payment may start the 7 year clock over.
