Damn this was a good conversation. Dan is so skilled at a asking just the right questions, listening intently to follow up with the right questions and knowing when to sit back and let his guest talk. As for Roy, hearing his background, history and depth of his craft & work ethic, how can you come out of this without loving him so much more. Well done all around!
I think this is a planting seed moment here...for both Dan and Roy, and I am here for it. Roy deserves the host at the Daily Show, but I feel Roy is ready to move on if he doesn't get it.
Initial reaction: God dammit, Dan; ain't nobody got time for a 2 hour South Beach session amidst the content avalanche you unleash upon us on a daily basis. Reaction after listening: God dammit, Dan...you did it again. Great job and an awesome interview.
I love this show. Real interviews and conversations. I have an idea for a show I've been thinking about for Dan for years. Covering all the mental aspects and psychology of sports. Fan investment, irrational confidence, management styles, dealing with fame and celebrity young, parental views, etc. Every episode would cover 1 topic. A show that fits perfectly in the Meadowlark Universe.
Brilliant interview worth every second, Roy absolutely should get the Daily Show and continue to build it as an institute like SNL has so it lasts forever. Comedy in news and politics makes the medicine go down, and gets the message out in ways it wouldn’t otherwise. Roy’s so smart, and accomplished, and such a perfect fit for the role. Maybe they could upgrade the show to a full news team with no lead host. It’s a huge loss if they lose him, but if he gets the lead opportunity I hope he takes it wherever he gets it. The correspondents have always been the heart and secret sauce to the show, and Roy is an all timer.
Dan cut his chops as one of the premier interviewers in the country. It stands to reason he is great at these interviews. That being said, the shipping container is worth it as well, as they provide levity to Dan who can be way too dark and serious if you let him go without being kept in check. Honestly, that is the Genius of Stugotz.
ESPN killed themselves by getting behind Stevie A instead of Dan. For as hilarious as he is, any of us who watch/listen regularly know hes on a mission that he cares deeply about. He's not a loudmouth or a showboat. He's principled.
@@aeugenegrayCorporations don't care about principles or ethics. ESPN certainly doesn't. It's also not an either/or situation. They could have had both SAS and DL, but they have systemically rid themselves of many of their liberal talent. Despite its reputation, ESPN is not "woke" as people claim. They are conservative at the core and are allied with the various leagues and the owners of those leagues.
I have so much respect for comedians. The ones who blow up have gone through hell to pursue their dreams. What RWJ went through without knowing the ultimate result in advance is so remarkable.
If you want to laugh, listen to Roy's prank calls from his years on the radio. Hope he gets the hosting job or his own show soon. Another amazing interview
Yo the fact that Roy was said he don't hold his breath for shit...it don't matter what ya think...it's what Roy is about that makes it so dope...did you listen to this conversation??...just asking respectfully
Short of Covid happening again and stopping the entertainment industry. This might be the next great opportunity to get the attention other comedians get. And he’s a comedian not an actor so, no writers no scabs to worry about. Just nice clean opportunity he’s ready for. This shit is going to work. Look forward to seeing him wherever he wants to be!😊
*RWJr is my favorite comedian, hands down.* I rewatch his specials because the jokes are still funny hearing them again. His hosting on _Comedy Central: This is not Happening_ was comedic gold. I watched his _The Daily Show_ segments even though I eventually couldn't stand that corporate shill/billionaire ass-kisser Trevor Noah (and I only came back to watch RWJr's guest host week). He's one of the funniest, original, hardest-working, relatable figures in the game. Roy Wood Jr. is definitely in the conversation for stand-up comedy G.O.A.T. _Don't fight me, fight ya mama._ 😌😏😌
So many projects have died - have a friend whose movie got scrapped bc the studio will make more money on it as a loss instead of releasing it. I’m not even sure it’s because of the strikes but the studios are keeping flush doing this kinda stuff. Expect a lot of independence emerging from the strikes.
Finally a guest worth listening to this is a good start please no more sport or entertaining dolts don't care if someone is Good Lord popular find someone with an ungreedy soul

What a masterful and illuminating conversation this was.
I’ll listen to Roy Wood talk about anything, fantastic as always Danno.
I knew about Roy Wood Jr's comedy but never knew his back story. Great Interview Dan. Thanks!!!
This was such a good episode. Please keep bringing in guests like Roy.
Roy is a goddamn G for life. LOVE him.

Facts
That would be cool…I honestly am more interested in seeing these two do a regular(weekly or monthly) show/podcast
This comment aged pretty well
Thanks for this interview.
I LOVED this interview!!!!!
Best interview I've ever seen
This was enjoyable to listen to. Dan, you're talented interviewer. Great South Beach session.
Always glad to see this Brutha. 👏🏾👏🏾😂😂
This is the dopest interview...and ACTUAL EXPOSE.tackled 2 wit one stroke...BEAUTIFUL...
Great Conversation!
Great interview Dan.
This was a great conversation. 👏 👏
Roy Wood Jr, Meadowlark Media, collision course! Great episode of South Beach Sessions. Thank you!
I’d die and move to Miami.
We could only hope. I can imagine Dan has got an offer of some degree for Roy. Can you imagine the bits? Shit would get even more funnier.
Amin could learn a great deal from a Roy Wood Jr.
I think he wants to do his own thing. Ownership, even if meadowlark would give him freedom to work
@@LaCheeserie Agreed. Would love to see it.
Bro ngl this was fuckinh awesome! He needs to be on the show much much more or do a show with him!!!
Roy knows what’s up. Love the convos Dan has access to.
The main lesson is don't settle for comfort. Take chances, take risks so that you can truly grow.
A common message that shines through in all these interviews is that nothing good comes easy.
Specially if you’re a minority
Found Roy from that street fighter bit and I'm glad to know about his career. Thank you dan

Wow what a great session!
Great interview!
Two really awesome and funny dudes just cuttin it up.

Sounds like ROY should have a sports show on meadowlark.
The "joke to you/joke to them" line really hit hard.
Yes! Love Roy!

I'm pretty sure that SBS isn't meant to be anything other than Dan doing "serious" interviews. This is a great offset to the Lebatard antics.
Thank you! ~ Stugotz somewhere

Oh, lemme sit up. I LOVE Roy Wood Jr..
I remember growing up my dad listened to the Tom Joyner show every day.

I fucks with Roy Wood Jr. the long way
Honest interview with an incredibly smart and interesting man.
If you want to laugh, listen to Roy's prank calls from his years on the radio. Hope he gets the hosting job or his own show soon. Another amazing interview
Thank you Dan … Thank you Roy … Time to get to work
Happy for Roy, were the same age. I know what shit was like in 1999 trying to make your way.
Love South Beach sessions.. I want a Jim brockmire. SBS.
Loved this ❤
Dan and Steve Harvey are the OG's of introductions.
I noticed that also. Dan's intro game is strong.
I like Dan talking about giving Roy a show w/ writers but I won't get my hopes up 💜💜💜

@@freeman7239 yes. I kinda got the vibe that he's wanting to do something else outside Comedy Central
Dan you are fucking killing it right now. Hire some more people & pull “a Stu” take another week off. A1 Content.
Be that guy who gives him 10-12 writers please 🙌🏼 sports politics comedy late night pirate style would blow the fuck up + everyone would want in
HBO should’ve made “Playmaker’s” Thx fan boy of both you guys!
Dans shooting his shot. PAY THIS MAN DAN!!!
The expenses have basically tripled, but the pay is the same. Many successful people never really acknowledge that but enough.
I think The South Beach Sessions is the best show on the network. I don't know the name of the company.
So good.

Disappointed Dan didn't know Roy worked at Golden Coral...he has a whole bit about his job there that is hilarious!!
I was hoping he would do that bit right then. I could listen to it over and over.
Hire Roy for your occasional “go to”sports guy. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼. How Fox uses Rob Riggle. 👍🏼
I LOVE dan without the rest soo much more than the regular show .
I am not a fan of the people on radio, too stupid. But Dan is deeper than that bs. Obviously not from FL here
I prefer everything in moderation. Too much Dan can be quite depressing.
Wise words. And I apologize for using the word hate. I don't know those people. I just dislike their act
Didn't mean to not say I hate everyone else on the show without saying I really dislike the radio show
when dan is out on the main show it turns into a mystery crate episode with random chatter on nothing
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Wait… what!?!?
My worlds converging, Frfr!?
Dan lowkey tryna sign him but Roy not catching on
I dont think he can because of the strike

South Beach Sessions with Hoch?
Based on the first few minutes of this convo, Roy Wood has always been more qualified for The Daily Show than Jon Stewart or Trevor Noah ever were.

espnLA radio was very funny when I was there up to 2018.

Get Joe Budden on south beach sessions
Shout-out to Fred Hickman!
Punch Drunk Sports, I'm sure Ari Shaffir want mind you taking the name Roy!
Why does Woods keep saying that about politicians ! the gop rages at criticism, the corporate Dems stay as far away from criticism as possible.
Now you’re perfect. Now you’re miserable.
Does Dan know at least ONE non Liberal???..cant imagine living in such a bubble
Not funny.
No matter the Roy, the content is 👌🏻
i miss job fair
