I am really happy that this discussion was made at this platform since I follow it everyday. Smriti Singh who is the bereaved wife of Kirti Chakra Capt. Anshuman Singh has displayed very decent behaviour by not reacting to such sick accusations by her in laws. Leaving aside the matter of any other issue...just one reason is enough for her to leave the family of her late husband and that is the mention of getting married to her brother in law( in less than a year of her husband's passing away) I am no feminist...but it is so clear that even today... Family members and other creatures of this society want to suggest/advice and even permit a woman's deeply personal choices that too in such a sensitive time of life. I thank you Saurabh Ji, Aarti Ji, Harshvardhan Ji and Vijay Ji and Pramila Dikshit Ji's poetry and I absolutely agree with that! People can comment all that they like and make her the villain, but deep down everyone understands that the loss of spouse is way beyond any other loss, because it is the loss of a companion. She is not even half the age of those in laws...its a shame they didnt show any dignity in trying to understand her.

Kindly research on the subject before running to make a comment. The parents aren't talking about the monetary compensation, Infact they have said that they want her to keep it. They just wanted to be a part and share the honour and medal as a proud memory of their son. It's more of an emotional issue rather than central service rules issue.
