I don't think mulan's hair would be THAT messy, even if it got a bit messy when riding to the war grounds. She is going to war after all, her hair would've been extremely tight.

Whenever I sleep I’m always moving around so when I wake up my hair is all tangled and stuff lol. I try to stay in place though so I can spare some time brushing my hair.
Some of the art seems poorly done to me. Ariel’s hair certainly would end up tangled, but not all scraggly like that with a bunch of separated strands. Not even a tangled wig does that (and wigs are way worse than humain hair). Tiana’s hair looks fine... except that hers actually WAS styled in that scene. I haven’t even watched the movie and I know that much. Ironically, Belle has that stray hair on her forehead to show that she’s NOT perfect in the first place (although the redo was pretty good anyway). As with Ariel, Aurora’s is too finely separated. Also, she would not wind up with bed head like Anna’s since she is not moving in her sleep. And Jasmine’s hair is a bubble ponytail, not a braid. It’s not smooth (actually, considering her ethnicity, it should be slightly textured), but rather, that slight poof is the result of its thickness and the fact that it is NOT tightly secured between hair bands. That is literally what bubble ponytails are supposed to look like. However, Cinderella, Snow White, Elsa, and Pocahontas all look great. I’ve always assumed that as Rapunzel’s hair is magical, it simply does not tangle (despite the name of the movie), but she brushes it for health and hygiene reasons. Even so, it is refreshing to see the very real challenges that having long hair like that would create. Mulan’s was priceless and way more realistic of what she would look like after working up a sweat. Also, the line about not going out with wet hair was hilarious, considering how inexplicably fast Elsa’s hair dried in that scene. Like, still wet when she dismounts, dry when she lets it down. XD
Well with Elsa she miht have had some time for it tto dry woth the wind moving through it.. I disagree on pocahontas though. more then once you can see some of her hair strands fly loose in the wind during the movies
