Tchaikovsky - The Sleeping Beauty - Ballet Suite - Pas D'action - Adagio

The Sleeping Beauty is Tchaikovsky's longest ballet, lasting nearly four hours at full length (counting the intermissions). The complete score runs practically 3 hours. It is nearly always cut. Tchaikovsky was approached by the Director of the Imperial Theatres in St. Petersburg, Ivan Vsevolozhsky on 25 May 1888 about a possible ballet adaptation on the subject of the story of Undine.

Great!!! I had the good fortune to see Nutcraker's Balet at the Bolschoy Theatre. And every time I hear Tchaikovsky I take myself back to that day, for me it was one of the most valuable moments of my life. When I left the theater I had to sit on a bench for about half an hour to come back to reality. Between the brilliance of Tchaikovsky and the ballet it was something really big.

Absolute beauty in this piece of music! The harp intro is peerless. You may not know that the main melody was used 60 years ago to compose the Cuban bolero "Vereda tropical".
