Pro tip - those eggs need double the hydration time and a bit more water than the instructions suggest - only then are they edible.

Why don't you get this chef to make something that will remain shelf stable, portable and edible for the duration of a week long or more hiking trip that will be up to his taste standards, and also fit the caloric and macronutrient requirements for someone who's been hiking more long distances while carrying loads each day?

When it comes to freeze dried foods being too salty, they are designed to feed people who are up in higher elevations hiking in the mountains. Everyone knows that you need more rehydration time and more salt as you go up in elevation. This is why airline food would taste even more disgusting if you ate it while In the airport instead of up in the air. Our taste buds are not the same the higher we go up in elevation. Also the extra salt will help replenish some of the salt that was lost through physical activity during the hike.

Evidently the chef has never been in the military or camped alone for a week or two. He apparently does not get the rational of survival food. It actually is excellent, especially Mountain House food.

always let them rehydrate for a lot longer than they say and use piping hot water. i sometimes leave it for 30+ minutes and just sit and glass or do something else. Do not let the heat escape thats how i get the beef and chicken bits to soften up.

To quote Miguel de Cervantes: "Hunger makes the best sauce in the world."
Hike / Backpack 6 - 14+ hours a day, for days or weeks on end, carrying 30 - 60+ pounds on rocky dirt trails, over hills and mountains, AND THEN try these meals again.

That's what I'm saying, NO OFFENSE but I think that people form the UK or other European countries haven't been backpacking for that long, for example the Appalachian trail is three and a half times the size of uk and the E11 in Europe is 2900 miles or 4700 km long while covering various counties. Here you make the American Discovery trail which is 6,800 miles or 10,944 km. So I really think that the reason they don't like or criticize this food it's because they hadn't had the need to eat this food.

LAME! Read the commits below this video, and I'm willing to bet my life that 95 percent of the commits are from those who couldn't find yourselves around a kitchen if your lives depended on it. This is coming from someone who actually cooks my meals and from my experience as a chef. This guy Is hitting the mark on most of these pre packed food meals. The folks making these meals are only giving you calories to burn not real "FOOD" all the while laughing all the way to the bank at you all. Take the time to invest in prepping your meals yourself its not rocket science kiddos, show yourself some love. Those who are pro pre packed meals could do land slides better and just grab a fistful of earth at the top of your mountain peak, hill, or the middle of nowhere and mix a little hot water. Bon Appetit!
