The table top kits sound sick, It really sounds better than a lot of kids I think you got a lot more of a kit than you think, It begs the philosophical question of what is a drum kit
As a percussionist and not a Drummer , Thanks to your videos , got myself a DD75. Learning and loving the Drums. As for accessories also planning to get a HH65. As for the kick i am still deciding between KU100 and KP65. Have you had a chance to try and what will be your recommendation.
I solved my problem by making 2 long wedge shaped blocks like a pedal (in a coffin shape). Then I simply cut the shape of the pedals out of the wedge, placed them inside, an used gaffa (duck) tape to keep them in place. Worked for me. Result: no more chasing pedals, whilst I was playing. "Good game, good game"!
Yes, budget is important... I have an Alesis turbo mesh kit, with 2 cheap "footswitch" pedals (like your hi-Hat) . I can't play as you demonstrate because it trigger randomly, sometimes I have a "tap tap tap" just on "push and release". So yes, you find a good set ;)
I just picked up a DD65. I already had the KU1000 (used to have a DD55) and am just using a keyboard sustain pedal for the high hat (much better than the included pedal). After watching this will probably upgrade to the HH65.
@@40somethingdrummer26 I was able to pick up an HH40 at a good price so now I'm set. I think these Yamaha kits are fantastic but are let down by the pedals. The KU100 and HH40 aren't great, they don't feel the same as the real thing but are so much better than the little plastic buttons they include with the kit. But at least they give you the option to upgrade.

Thank you for addressing the "neighbours" matter! - That played (oops!) a major role in having my iON DM05 gather dust. You had me take the plunge and order the Yamaha, both pedals, a snare-drum stand and a stool. And then it came to me that I also have the old Roland thing somewhere, the "corkboard with 8 pads on top". (Don't expect me to show much presence here. I ordered more gear. If I should go more schizofrenic, I could start a band.)
How does this compare to other footplate pedals? Cause as a rule of thumb no one plays with these switch pedals cause they are that bad. I've never even seen those little buttons but the kick plate switches you'll notice not a single drummer posting online uses.
Hey, thanks! Yes, the DD75 is great for complete beginners. enjoying it. No, you can't use the HH65 as a kick pedal. At least not "out of the box". it doesn't work. There may be some adjustments you could make to the pedal, but I don't know about that. It only operates the hihat. All the best with your learning! hope to hear on your progress.
Hello, I would like to know if the dd75 battery reproduces the half-open and half-closed hihat with the yamaha hh65 hi-hat pedal, etc.? Or does it just open and close?
Hi! I have the same kit and kick pedal. Except for tje hihat pedal. I have initially bought the hh65 but when i saw that it is bigger than the kick pedal i decided to change it to hh40. Only now i realized that hh65 has a better feature like half open feature. Does the half open feature on hh65 work on your dd75 kit? Thanks
No it doesn't. The HH75 simply doesn't have half-open high hat sound. More disappointingly, it doesn't transmit a half open HH midi note either. So you can't even trigger half-open HH from a vst . So, have no regrets on this one. the pedal doesn't help this limitation
@@40somethingdrummer26 Hi. If I understand well the Yamaha DD-75 will never provide half-open hi-hat sound or signal no matter what hi-hat pedal (HH40 or HH65) is used?
hello. please tell me what cable you connect HH65 ,I have a problem in connecting Alesis samplepad pro and HH65 connected with a stereo cable and mono not that not that did not give a result, but when the contacts are closed, it is triggered to open and close
Hi All looking to buy the DD75 myself and doing pedal research. So can we confirm the two hihat pedals on offer one being plastic and the other metal and much larger - apart from these physical properties function the same between them? I think I am preferring having the pedal (smaller one) to match that of the kick drum pedal which I assume is similar in size and construction? Thanks
each one is specific, you can't use the HH pedal as kick pedal and vice-versa. I cannot really confirm the HH pedal is metal. Honestly, I think it is but it could also be some kind of very hard plastic composite painted as metal .I'm not 100% certain, but it really feels like metal. The kick pedal is definitely plastic
@@40somethingdrummer26 ok went for the HH40 in the end to match the size of the KU100. It has arrived and is metal for sure on the top plate. Awaiting on the KU100 to turn up tomorrow.
