    NOTE: There have been some confusion about the 199$ deal.😯
    It is only available on the GMKTEC site (check link in description), and then after using the Pandory-M5 code at checkout. This is mentioned in this very video @0:58
    This coupon is only on for the next two weeks, however gmktec have regular sales on both their site and amazon.
    Amazon and aliexpress add their own extra fee, so don't be surprised if it's a little more expensive on those websites.

    I have a mini PC with the Ryzen 5 5560U and it can play a few Switch games. My one rule in life is if you want an APU always go with AMD.

    FWIW there's an updated version of this box now with dual m.2 slots and an extra fan. Guessing they are using the same board and case as the K6 to save manufacturing costs. They only bumped the price up by $20, which is very reasonable for an extra fan/fan header and m.2 slot. Not sure the extra fan is really necessary - have had zero heat issues with the v1 so far - but it's a nice option. Currently a $104 (wtf?) coupon. Tempting, but not as tempting as the minisforum MS-01.

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, the standard M5 kept pretty cool as is. A nice little computer that 👍
      I've added some new coupons to the top of the page, and minisforum has been doing it's rounds a bit recently. Haven't tried one yet but I hear decent things about them :)

    • @FoggyVirus
      @FoggyVirus 7 месяцев назад

      @@TeamPandory - Nice! I'm not a huge fan of minisforum based on past experience, but the MS-01 could be pretty sweet for home lab use if they can avoid cheaping out on components and build quality. I'd place them in the same camp as beelink in that respect, and am pretty skeptical there's a real chance of that. I'd also have preferred something less compact TBH - as it is, it's not really small enough to benefit from being "mini" and a lot of sacrifices appear to have been made just to cram everything into that chassis. It gets props from most channels (I get it, you can't pay the bills if you shit all over you sponsors) but the heat, power draw, and noise all look they could be problematic. I'm predicting it's a hot mess but remain hopeful that I'm wrong.

    Ok, I've taken a punt on it. £172 for a barebone isn't bad. I needed a PC for a while to do work on and the USB-C PD is a plus for me. This is an example of mass-market computing - putting a last(but one) generation CPU into a standard form factor to reach a price point. It isn't going to break records, but it will fill a hole for a couple of months.
    I thought I'd get another Larkbox to do the job, but this was only £40 more (I have memory and SSD) so why not?
    Thanks for the code - without it, it wouldn't have been good value against Beelink 5560u machines on Amazon.
    Just got to see how long it takes to get to the UK now. My last Minisforum took nearly 3 weeks. Maybe that's the missing part of the review; the delivery time?

    I don't understand. How does a Ryzen 7 chip based computer come from China when there is currently a ban on them acquiring the latest chips? Something sounds fishy here.
    Also, I have the Beelink Ser 5 5700U Ryzen mini pc myself. I find that if you are going to setup a server, mini PC's are a great option as it consume low power and saves a lot of space considering it's small form factor. Otherwise, I really don't think there is no other uses for mini pc's. For gaming I would NOT recomment mini PC's at all as any PC with a dedicated GPU will run rings around these mini PCs.

    • @nadtz
      @nadtz 9 месяцев назад

      The ban is on chip making equipment and AI chips. Regular CPU's are not part of that. And there is a lot of use for these for uses outside of gaming. I know that's what gets most of the reviews but there are a lot of people who have no problem with a small low power system for day to day tasks. For instance I've moved my main PC to Linux but still need a windows box, a mini PC suits this purpose as I don't need a powerful system for office or the other apps I need to run on windows.

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  9 месяцев назад

      While you might be correct about performance (especially if you add a GPU), you're really pushing those prices.
      The 5600g alone goes for 124$ on sale. Add 60 for a case, 70 for a PSU, 70+

    I've got one of these but it's the 5825u.
    You mentioned the "kensington" what the feck is that lock for?
    Also, I can't enter the bios, I've tried delete, escape, all the F's at best I get a blank screen at worst it boots straight into win11. I wonder if it's my choice of screen connection, currently HDMI.
    I just want to install Mint 22 (Win 7 to win 11 is just too much of a jump) but this thing is fighting every inch of the way. Any help would be appreciated.

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  11 дней назад

      Kensington!? That's the mystery. No-one knows! But it's obviously a better system if it has it 😅
      It sounds like "fast boot" in the bios is enabled. In Windows, go down to the search bar at the bottom of the screen and type "bios"- you should be able to check "change advanced startup options" - In advanced startup, press "restart now" and it should bring you to a Windows diagnostics screen. In there you should be able to find another button so you can get into your bios.

    • @Mr_Cantankerous
      @Mr_Cantankerous 11 дней назад

       @TeamPandory I've stayed awake longer than planned and faffed. The "Kensington" is just a hole 🙄
      I've tried forcing a restart as you suggested, pressing shift whilst restarting, via cmd and every other way I could find. I'm thinking that I'm getting to the bios but I can't see it because I'm left with a black screen and my keyboard is lit up.
      Possibly an HDMI to LG TV driver issue. I recall my old machine with dual screens, one a VGA the other a DVI, only the VGA connection would give anything before windows booted, so maybe I'm stuck in modern hell, where nothing works because newer is rarely better , but the older trusted ports don't fit this form factor. I miss win 7, this modern Microsoft crud is beyond annoying. Any device that asks you to log into an account to pair a mobile phone via bluetooth needs binning or at least the OS. 😴

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  11 дней назад +1

      @@Mr_Cantankerous It's a possibility that the LG TV cant render the super-low-resolution. Maybe bring it to a friend's house, or find an older 1080p monitor?
      Unfortunately, if you want to enjoy Windows 7 nowadays, I'm pretty sure you need to run it with multiple hacks in order to get online, or do anything with it.
      I'd suggest trying Linux Mint or something like Bazzite - which is basically Linux bundled with SteamOS, which would work nicely as a game center.
