Played NCL Qualifyer 1 and 2 by NoHeroes with a similar Shanks list and went 5:2 on both events. Here is what I observed: I can play 5 rounds without any major issues regarding my hand. But at least 1 out of 7 games my hand is complete garbage. No 4c/5c, no characters to establish board. I can deal with a bad hand and stall out the game with 2c Event, Sanji, Hongo, or Building Snake etc until im able to play 7Gate/Beckman or Rayleigh/Dragon. But when facing purple decks, having a hand like that is almost always a death sentence since they're able to ramp into big bodies so quickly. Having these major consistency issues can lose you games, which is why I started to include Uta searcher + Yassopp to my list. The problem is when including Uta+Yassopp u need to reduce/cut important tech cards like 7Gate, Building Snake, Marco, Ace or even Red Hawk. When completely removing all of the tech cards from your deck ur Playstyle becomes way more consistent but at what cost.... The list feels narrow and waaay less fun. The Shanks pirate cards besides Lucky Roux and 10c Shanks just feel dull and limited. I will continue to play Uta+Yassopp consistency version but will still keep my favorite Tech cards as a 2×. The price for that will be cutting Sanji + only 2× Red Hawk which will definitely hurt my defensive capabilities but will increase the fun + makes already good matchups like Doffy even more oppressive.
a big reason i didnt play control/a list that ran uta was because of how unfun the deck is when u have to play cards like uta, building snake, yassop. its so much more fun to play good red stuff and just hope u draw like god. chaining dragons/10c shanks is so much fun
@@lithium457 feels 50/50 for 09/10 just a battle of raigo/10c shanks but in eb02 idk how we compete with sky island aggro that is then able to slam a searchable 10c enel

makes more sense in control lists, but i could see both lucky roux's becoming 2 building snake and it being good
