I have been watching your channel since the beginning, easily my favorite channel on here. I think this has been my favorite video so far, because it is so relatable to my own journey. We thought our garden build would take a couple weekends and ended up taking many many months of body breaking work, money, and persistence. But it was worth every minute, and I was able to defy people’s doubts and have a beautiful harvest out of the very first year of living on our property :) Building and growing a homestead is truly humbling and at the same time miraculous. Thank you for inspiring me through it all ❤
I agree, this has been my favorite and most calming video to date. I truly enjoy all of them and rewatch many times, but this one… ♥️♥️ Muchas gracias Eugenia por otro video maravilloso!
I have found that planting potatoes, like you did, helps loosening the soil. their roots are fantastic at loosening the soil. I love how you created your garden. I was hard work, but so worth it. :)
Before you start your next garden area smother the weeds with some black plastic from your construction site for a few months. Everything underneath dies. Especially if you did it over your hot summer and then planted it out in autumn. Felt and wool carpet are ok for mulch layers underneath compost but I've found cardboard to be the best. Brown cardboard with minimal printing with any tape picked off. One layer, two if you need it. I've seen a blackberry try to grow, then it hits the cardboard and then turn around and grow straight down for about 20cms!
As a person who is leading a neighborhood into our first community garden, I needed this inspiration so much. Time and energy are what we have to offer and sometimes it just gets hard to stay at it, but your words comfort me and give me hope that I can do this.
With so much hard work & determination you have created an incredible food forest, a cookbook, a beautiful you tube channel and started building your dream home. Super Woman!
One of the best video on RUclips Eugenia! OMG it's amazing what you were able to accomplish in just one year, thank you for inspiring us all and taking us along the process ❤
I think this was one of your best videos yet. I have followed you pretty much from the start and find your journey extremely inspiring. I'm thrilled to see your success. It is completely deserved. I can't wait to see what comes next. 👏👩🌾
I found carpet is quite a great tool to use in suffocating weeds. I usually put carpet down and then I guess if you don’t want to see it put a plastic thing over it or the felt, then the gravel over that. It does break up over time but it just saves weeds coming through for a solid 6 months minimum. It’s not pretty but it does the job. You could even use Lino, but I think if you don’t have a drainage point it would pool water then no doubt weeds would make its way there too.
I had clay soil like yours, so I brought sand from outside and mixed it 50/50, that is, I balanced the soil texture ☯ , I added compost so that it was +- 33.3% of each (clay soil, sand, compost), I have mixed some ash and biochar in the first 15 cm and added organic matter collected from green herbs in the surroundings and the soil has improved a lot in texture and fertility, the sand has allowed me to cultivate the soil almost all year round regardless of the rain, At the moment I am testing the "Trench composting" technique directly in the middle of the bed, I hope for good results and to save labor, in the future I intend to introduce basalt powder into the cycle because it is very rich in minerals.
I teared up watching this masterpiece of a video. As a backyard and front yard gardener, I know how much work it is (and a lot of joy). I can’t imagine the amount of work you put in. So much determination and will power. You are truly an inspiration
WOW HOW AMAZING LOVED HOW HARD YOU WORKED NOT GIVING UP AND GETTING SOME GREAT RESULTS THANKYOU FOR SHARING IT ALL WITH US IT HAS INSPIRED ME TO CONTINUE ON WITH MY SMALL PLOT
Hi, I am Anna Hudson. I am also a gardener. I live in an apt. complex but have flowers in front of my patio area and grow veges in pots and fabric containers. It is hard work as our soil is clay and rocky. I have had to dig trenches to put in bagged soil and apply mulch. I don't know where you are but we get broiling hot summers here, Northern Arkansas, US, so things grow again in September here also. I just have to try and keep them alive for the summer. Very challenging. Thank you for your inspiring video. Sincerely, Ann H. and my cat, MaoMao Piper 🐾🐾🐾
Your videos are very inspiring and you said such beautiful words and spoke so beautifully and realistically, I wish you the best! Also would you ever think about placing a pond in the future for more humidity/ for animals ?
Wow, it is such an inspiring documentary. Love the way you plan and share your thoughts and feelings. Good luck and enjoy your failure and success.thank you for sharing!
I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible content you create. 🌱🌿🍃 Your videos on vegetable gardening and culinary adventures are not only visually stunning but also incredibly informative and inspiring. Greetings from Ukraine!
Incrível! I admire your dedication, courage and commitment. We fail, we learn and do better. Extremely inspiring. Such a beautiful garden you have. Can’t wait to see more of your work in the space you now call home.
Dear Eugenia, I really admire the strength of your vision and your endurance! However, you put an unsuountable phisical effort into this, and this video made me realize again! I showed your video to a friend that currently is a soil food web technician. She said, she would have made some holes into the dry / empty soil and fill compost in to nourish the soil from the ground up. She was shocked to see you put plastic foil😅 I am not an expert, but do you know the soil food web school? Maybe you would be able to make your own bio complete compost and safe some phisical effort for the future...in any case I wish you all the best for all your endeavours - and I admire your journey and your experiences you are living❤
It actually made me cry watching you water everything by hand with your watering can!!! I have been there!!! Look how amazing it all turned out though. You did not give up, and you managed to bring life back to the soil!!!!!
Amazing!! Thank You for the inspiration and encouragement. Your channel is my favorite on this platform. I enjoy your quite peaceful presence. I have also enjoyed your cookbook and look forward to all that you will create in the future and share with us. ❤

You had me in tears when you were talking about energy. Your hard work and fortitude is an inspiration to everyone. Your kindness and gentleness towards nature and the bees is a gift to everyone's heart. Thank you, Eugenia, for being such a blessing on our beloved planet. I'm sending loving and peace-filled thoughts to everyone.
Beautiful garden! Your seedlings died, but you didn't give up. It was too hot for peppers, so you left them to grow during the cool months. Your persistence paid off.
I don't normally comment on RUclips videos, but this one caught my eye and I am happy that it showed up in my feed. You are an inspiration! Keep doing what you love, Eugenia! 💓
Great harvest! I have a big vegetables garden too, really a big job,I saw my husband work so hard to make garden nice and neat, you did great job! Subscribed!

We are on Silver Coast and having the same issue with weeds. I think the only solution could be having a thick layer of gravel under the kitchen garden?...
Beautiful work Eugenia!!!! You’ve captured, inspired, and mastered this amazing work of art. Thank you for always sharing the ups and downs of your day-to-day adventures. ☀️🌾🫶
It is inspirering to see your work! I am about to start a bigger food garden, and my existing smaller garden will be mainly strawberries and flowers. I have followed your videos for some years, since before I got my garden. I feel so much at peace, despite the challenges and hard work. Thank you for sharing your work and story 🍓🌼
What a beautiful, wonderful video of a year in your garden, thank you for bringing we your viewers into your world. Gardening doesn't guarantee results, but perseverance creates miracles. Well done!
So Beautiful as always and very well said. Thank you Eugenia for continuing to feed our souls and being our inspiration to start or continue with loving our earth and each other.
Primero que todo, mychas gracias! Sus experiencias me llenan de inspiración. Un sueño que tenía, al que casi renuncio por varias circunstancias, pero el primer video que vi de ustedes me dió fuerza para volver a mi sueño y replantear todo.
You know eugenia, all I can tell you is that you have something very special inside you! And every single time I watch one of your videos, I feel a spark in me too. And I feel hope and inspired to pursue my dreams. I'm grateful for you! Please continue on sharing your energy with us👏🏽 God bless you
Dear Eugenia, what a fabulous lesson on how to triumph over adversity! So inspirational. The quote from Churchill, all those years ago - Never give up, sums up the power of what you have achieved. You are now reaping the rewards of all your hard work. Well done. Lots of love, Francesca ❤❤❤
This was charming. It is a reminder of how hard things are and how important it is to believe in what you are doing. I may not be able to embark on such a difficult land renovation but this was such a reminder of not giving up. I am glad I saw this. IG is not bad at showing who you are but these videos are better.
