So glad to see Matthew mention his Watercolor Essentials course in this video. I bought the course and it's great. Be sure to check it out. You won't be sorry.

The brushes were hard to see clearly in the video. Also, what I would like to know is how soft or springy those brushes are, or should be. There are so many brushes on the market, it’s overwhelming if not intimidating, and it’s easy spend hundreds of dollars trying various brushes. Complicating things for me in Canada is some brands or kinds of brushes are unavailable or hard to get.

    Hey! Thanks for the video!
Have you ever repaired your brushes? My rigger has lost its form, I don't know if I can do something with it...

I know you said you don't tape your paper to the canvas, so how do you keep your paper flat after your paper dries and you still need to work on it? Do you use 300 lb paper? I am beginner, so paying for 300 lb paper is too much money for practicing.

Pre-wet your paper on both sides and that will keep the paper flat. Matthew recommends 140 lb paper.

140 lb paper with 100% cotton is standard. You can also try 200 lb paper, if you can get it. This retains the moisture a little better and is also suitable to do “pure watercolour” as opposed to “wet-on-wet”. You may need to experiment with different paper brands to see how they behave.
