Everytime I hear this OST, I feel like I was shaking with this feeling as both a Yuri fan and being so badassly admiring Sailor Uranus as ikemen and Sailor Neptune as the elegant mysterous one.
I vividly remember being about 11 and watching the sub version of Sailor Moon for the first time. I was super closeted at the time for a number of reasons and I always loved Sailor Uranus and Neptune so when I watched the sub and saw that they were girlfriends instead of cousins, I just remember sobbing cause I was so happy. Representation is everything💙💛
my friend thought I've never seen this anime before and tried to convince me that this song was from another anime (*cough* Kuroshitsuji *cough*) but it didn't work because I saw this anime when I was 11 XD
no...it was the classic anime that wasn't the same. Crystal is the telling of the story as it was originally written. I would be super irritated if it was the same music from the classic anime because it does not have the right feel for the atmosphere that's being presented in Crystal. Frankly, Crystal has been nailing the manga storyline from the start and where I loved the classic too, it butchered the storyline in favor of "the monster of the day" format that was made popular by things like Super Senti/Power Rangers, Masked Rider, VR Troopers, Big Bad Beetleborgs and so on. I'm really glad they didn't copy paste things from the 90's anime. It would have badly ruined the presentation.

For obvious reasons, the manga holds little power in terms of comparing a soundtrack as the manga never had a soundtrack until Crystal was created. The original anime's soundtrack is nothing more than a compilation of musical notes as much as the original manga's a compilation of drawn paper. Seeing as they both represent Sailor Moon more than they represent their mediums, it's not impossible to see the two working together in Crystal. The original Sailor Moon anime could've followed the manga closer and wound up having a very similar OST to the original anime. I don't think Crystal's OST is as strong as the original anime, but opinions are opinions. All in all, it's at best a hypothetical and in the end, Crystal winds up having a unique score. It's highly unlikely that a 90s anime would copy/paste the original music into a newer anime. Realistically, I was thinking along the lines of remixes of certain compositions... and that seems pretty reasonable considering something such as a transformation by Uranus and Neptune are pretty much the same in Crystal as they are in the original anime.
I watched through the first arc (Queen Metallia & co.) and then a few episodes of R in Crystal and I have major problems with it, whether it's more accurate to the manga or not, and that's how many people Usagi just straight up murders, and how many of those murders was done with a fucking sword. Remember in the 90's version, all those times that Usagi chose mercy, and refused to kill people? Remember how she refused to fight against Galaxia because she believed it was wrong? And then in Crystal she uses a fucking sword and kills Beryl, and then there's that really confusing scene where she slices the four gemstones that were in Mamoru's pocket as she tries to kill Mamoru and herself? And then she straight up kills the Phantom Sisters who turned good in the 90's anime. Isn't this a little fucked up?
dreziv 90's sailor moon was very inaccurate to the source material. spoiler: not only does she straight up kill the phantom sisters in the manga, professor Tomoe also is killed in the manga and it's the outer Senshi that raises Hotaru. together you have a problem with it or not is irrelevant. this is how sailor moon was presented by the original writer.
After watching the 90's S anime am I the only one who feels hints of sadness in this transformation music because haruka and michuru don't want to sacfirce anyone but at the end of the day they know it may come down to that
I won't lie, this reminds me loosely of the normal Sonic & Knuckles boss theme. Part of why I love it so much. It feels like an actual fight music. Now if only other shows would do that again.
Saturn sadly doesn’t have a transformation sequence of her own, at least in the main 90’s anime series particularly. She does have a transformation sequence in the Saturn version of the SuperS fighting game, though. But it’s super short and very brief. Super underrated Sailor Senshi… 😢
