Nice you found another animal themed Gibson with tasteful inlays, not garish! Demo sounded great. Yes to be pedantic, the Bison inlay skull profile on this model is not really buffalo but looks more like some cattle breeds. The correct buffalo horn curl might have been harder to cut inlays for, or they just missed the nuance. Fun fact, about 80,000 buffalo still roam wilderness in Northern Alberta.
Same found out my dad had cancer in February 2012 . In July my wife passed away and moved in with my mother to help her look after my dad. My dad died about a month shy of two years after diagnosis
The first thing I did to my old D-41 (traded years ago), and my current Blueridge BR-240A was ditch the plastic endpins and install fossil ivory endpins. I don't know why they can't put bone endpins, saddles, and nuts in a $3,500 guitar!?!
Don’t ask me that I like some people think that some of the synthetics are better than bone because bone, being a natural material has some variability to its density. It’s one of those crazy things… Yes, I think bone is cooler than any kind of plastic… The way I think Ebony is cooler than any kind of glued up cardboard.
That bison guitar needs some turquoise accents. You need to get a basket case guitar and do a rebuilding video every once in a while, or start another trade Tuesday series.
Austin, You should keep this example. Its so difficult to obtain you may never get another with such a great sunburst finish. Congrats on the new Borescope, looking forward to seeing the improved image.
7:00 The smaller the inlay gets the less detail, kind of the same way you lose detail the father away you are when viewing something. Considering the low price I'd say the lack of detail may be for cost reasons. Same for the Gibson USA Case, GS probably listed a desired price range, to attain the lower price GC might have requested the less expensive case instead of the CS Case. There is a significant cost difference between the CS and USA cases. I really like this model, nice custom attributes without being over the top, IMHO it's a very handsome acoustic.
Cool guitar , love the Slope Shoulder acoustic Gibson's , the Bison reminds me of the Gretsch 6120 ( Chet Atkins) model with the Western inlays , git along little doggy ! Thanky Trogness !
Home on the Range! Nice touch!! When I was a kid, Disney released an album with Larry Groce singing and it had Home on the Range on it. That just took me back to a good place. Thanks for that, buddy! Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃
Well, a First Nations person wouldn’t think the bison thing was really all that great for T-day, because apparently bison were almost hunted to extinction with the purpose of ruining that pressure source of life-sustaining, meat and materials… Anyway… I am fun at parties, and I did not mention the “G” word.
Sir, imagine yourself, off the Conestoga, building a town out in the plains. You get a little hotel, an office for the sheriff, a bar and general store. Then one day as you sit in your rocker sipping black coffee off in the distance you see a massive dust cloud. As the cloud nears your new plank sidewalks and watering tub for the horses comes a thundering of hoofbeats, tens of thousands of buffalo, more than you can see, clear to the horizon. In a matter of moments your years of word is trampled into the dirt, walls fall, folks are trampled, devastation. If you survived with your life and rifle, perhaps you would hold a grudge. Your life wasn't ruined by 'First Nations.'
@@robnamowicz8073 bro's writing fanfic to prove some kind of point about how nearly extincting the american bison was somehow a good thing because otherwise you'd get trampled to death like mufasa lmao tf "Your life wasn't ruined by 'First Nations.'" bro what? is this guy blaming the supposed attack-on-titan-esque rampaging hoards of bison terrorizing the hinterland on native americans? why didn't the natives have a problem with this? both the settlers and the natives hunted bison, and they would create stampedes, but i dont think there are any records of entire towns being bulldozed and trampled to complete destruction leaving a lone, highly miffed survivor somehow armed with a rifle both sides regularly did ruin each other's life, but look around america and you can see who came out on top. they might as well have taken squanto out behind their dug in hut and smothered him with a smallpox blanket
The bridge pins look cheap but are actually not bad, I've worked at a guitar store for three years and the way to check for "quality" is to drop them over a hard surface, like a glass counter top, and listen for the material hardness. Gibsons are some of my favourites (they ring way better than better looking import pins). Of course bone is superior and you can also have wood or metal but those also slightly change the voice of your guitar (specially metal ones, even though they make your guitar louder).
I haven't played a J-45 that really knocked my socks off. I played a J-45 Studio w/ walnut back and sides at Sam Ash that I thought sounded better than the Standard.
Not really into acoustic guitars, but for some reason, this one spoke to me. Home on the Range was a nice touch. However, you should've played some Buffalo Springfield. Get it, BUFFALO Springlield...
Yeah... What happens to Gibson when THEY step on another brand name? Doesn't logo look Gretsch-like? Or Tecovas boots? Hooboy... Lawyer's guitar takes on a new meaning! Maybe "Rawhide" or "Happy Trails" might have been better...
J45 ...what is there not to like ' ...gorgeous vintage looking burst and that tone ' ...Bison stuff is tasteful indeed but not for me, perfect for that Country gig, especially with the rich deep resonant tone.
Great episode. Beautiful sunburst top and nice rosewood fretboard. I dig the cool, rare bison theme. I’m a little confused by the custom shop part. Is it made in the custom shop because more of a rare J-45 and not a standard? Does the custom shop indicator also mean it’s more handmade than the regular j-45? If so, seems like a decent price since it’s only $500 more than the standard.
Only down side to this guitar is that you cannot do strap locks unless you want to drill holes in it or do they make strap locks that have the input jack in them ? i have never seen them cheers
Hi Austin, Very Cool Bison Acoustic by Gibson. Sounds great Looks great and it has horns so I’m impressed . Nice demo on this one too thank you Trog!💪💀⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏✌️🎉🇺🇸
Hey trogloy I’m want g to start playing again and was wondering .. is the early 2000’s Les paul standards the best bang for the buck on lps these days .. I’ve always loved early 90’s Les Paul’s but I’m tryn to stay around 2k -2300
Given that Gibson acoustics are made in Bozeman, Montana, and that Montana is one of the states that has bison, I think it's actually cooler than the bats model. Sure, bats is Halloween cool, but bison is cool all year round.
Besides your fingerpicking and playing improving, this acoustic is one of the better sounding you've ever had on the show. Keep it and turn it into a player, it's sound will only improve over time.
Bison bone pins, nut and saddle???? Don’t forget, we’re dealing with Gibson. If they can put an extra nickel of profit in their coffers, you better believe they’re gonna.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. Bison are bigger have a hump with what looks like a coat on the hump and a massive head with shir horns. Buffalo are larger than and more cow like . Any more Buffalo running around and youd have a stampede. Why is it LR Bags can't make a battery pack thats more accessible?
“Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.” That sentence is, strangely enough, grammatically correct due to the existence of Buffalo, NY, to buffalo someone is to bully or intimidate, and the animals. It roughly means: “Buffalonian bison that other Buffalonian bison bully also bully Buffalonian bison.”

I wish my Dad was still with us, I would have bought him an acoustic guitar like this.
Mine too? Miss my dad. 🥲♥️

@Kahuna54: I bet he would've loved it. I miss my Pops too. Everyday...

What a great Episode, that's no Bull
Cool Acoustic
Right back at ya H.K. 🤘
Happy holiday to you also fellow troglodyte 👍🎸.Rock on.

Every acoustic guitar I’ve ever adjusted the truss rod on squeaked.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Trogly. May the next year bring you blessings and joy. Thanks for what you do.

There's no middle pickup?
Still, a very nice, vintage, hollow body, hardtail Stratocaster!
@@basildog007 and they installed the ABR-1 bridge upside down!

It sounded really good and you played it really well. I recommend you keep it forever Mr Trogly.
Nice. Pretty fretboard.
Great demo. That thing sounds just great. Loved your playing! That Silent Night was amazing. Also, what's the song at 11:19?
Not nearly as cool as the bats, but still pretty cool, and that fingerboard is gorgeous, one of the nicest Ive ever seen.
Sounds really good.
That stiff squeaky truss rod nut can easily be remedied with a little brushed on paste wax for lubrication for a quick & permanent fix..
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
Great documentation and review A.🎸👍
i like it. it's got such a vintage vibe.
That's actually a really great sounding acoustic guitar.. like very well balanced
Buck owens kingman please 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I have to admit Gibson is getting better nowdays
The truss rod nut might be loose. If you tighten it a little bit, that buzzing or clicking sound should go away, hopefully.
trogly should i buy a greco or a burny les paul custom
17:01 LOL
Very nice sounding guitar, the Bison heads are a matter of personal taste😊
Happy Turkey Day!🦃
THIS one's got THE TONE!👏🤗
Really nice sounding acoustic with Bison bonus 🤘🦃
Beautiful guitar, I own two Martins and this episode makes me really gas for a J-45 hah! Happy Thanksgiving.
J45 ...what is there not to like ' ...gorgeous vintage looking burst and that tone ' ...Bison stuff is tasteful indeed but not for me, perfect for that Country gig, especially with the rich deep resonant tone.
Is a dragon a live creature Trogly? 😅. You like those. Why would a bison skull not be considered an animal themed guitar dude?
The commodo dragon is alive and kicking.
Skulls and arrow heads suggest a theme removed from simply animals.

On the Road Again, Canned Heat
Sounds surprisingly good.
Am I the only who thinks Trogly missed a great opportunity with the video title called "The Gi-Bison"?
Cool play on words for sure
Hi Austin, Very Cool Bison Acoustic by Gibson. Sounds great Looks great and it has horns so I’m impressed . Nice demo on this one too thank you Trog!💪💀⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏✌️🎉🇺🇸
Rusty, binding, or poorly threaded truss rod / nut. Fun video!
Sounds like that truss rod nut is cross threaded. Real quality there.
#6 so close great we got the bull tonight lol. Nice guitar looks comfortable nice case aswell. Thanx Trogly
You gotta keep it in the animal collection. It's perfect

Wow you are pretty good on acoustic play more acoustic you have a knack for it.
i love Gibson acoustics. there is just no other sound like it.
A 'pick holder!' Wow, I usually hold mine with my fingers. Don't try to buffalo me!
I love it
what' the difference between a buffalo and a bison? You can't wash your hands in a buffalo.
I love the fret board and head stock! But I can't justify the price for me. I don't play acoustic much.
Given that Gibson acoustics are made in Bozeman, Montana, and that Montana is one of the states that has bison, I think it's actually cooler than the bats model. Sure, bats is Halloween cool, but bison is cool all year round.
I still like the bats better.
A Texas Longhorns guitar! 👍
So i guess the acoustic guitars that are customs still get the classic custom sticker on the back of the neck?
Those are great old licks from some Great old tunes. Sounds Pretty good. I think I would keep that one.
Definitely sounds like a $4000.00 Guitar 😎
It’s a shame Gibson ignores lefties on the limited releases. I still want a Gibson USA DC Junior. I don’t need a custom shop or want one.
I assume you already know that only about 10% of the population is left handed?
Everyone has to have devil horns on everything
10/10 would buy
Let's Go Buffalo!
Im not into animal guitars, but this one is good.
My 2023 J-45 Standard has a black nut.
Good to hear an acoustic guitar for a change, stick with it Trog you play differently. Love the guitar
Alive-dead
Still an animal
Trog, man you made me laugh tonight. Thank you. Keep up the great work.
keeper, enough animal influence for me.
I thought Bison-tennial was back in the 70s
Keep it! Totally animal themed!
Besides your fingerpicking and playing improving, this acoustic is one of the better sounding you've ever had on the show.
Keep it and turn it into a player, it's sound will only improve over time.
was the only accepted currency Bison Bucks?
This guitar reminds me of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Sounds good
