"No one paying attention to the Marceu..." to be fair, the DD spent a lot of time tucked in behind that island curve.
And It was a Marceau, backed up by a Rhode Island and Venezia.
Agree. The Marceu was not a good target. Personally I think adding the Hildebrand's DPS to the other targets would have been better.
Exactly this
it got reduced to half with nobody firing at it... -_-
Exactly, for a long time nobody had a shot at her.
That reload is crazy for 305s.
WG thought process:
First guy: She gets a flight deck so lets only give her only two gun turrets so its balanced.
Second guy: She only has two gun turrets so lets make 3 305mm guns with a short reload per turret so that the guns are actually good.
Power creep
@@postron5649 You forgot the need to buff the flight deck's armor.
I have the Hildebrand, and trust me it’s not as much of a perk as you think it is. HE is absolutely anemic, and the lack of accuracy makes it almost impossible to use the AP effectively unless your target is flat broadside.
@davidpotts7116 If it only had the guns, I'd agree with you, it would probably be middling at best.
"Do you know what happens to a heavy cruiser when it gives broadside? The same thing that happens to everything else."
- Storm as a WoWs captain
I had to go to the comments to see where I recognised the reference from. Thanks.
Except German BB's... they're damn near impossible to citadel. That said, it's never a good idea to give broadside in anything, but German BB's are a little more forgiving.
11:06 ackshually Jingles...
The Hildebrand has 27mm plating, Rhode Island's 14 inch AP can't overmatch his bow and that's why he's using HE.
RI captains typically just spam HE anyways.
I would argue that you can penetrate below the flight deck, but have to admit that I have not tried such shots with a Hildebrand as a target.
Frostbite is keeping the Marceau spotted, but Jingles was ignoring the fact that he's safely in cover until 5:31 and when he did break cover the Halland and Smolensk did take an interest in his wellbeing.
What is that Master Jingles? 2 extra shifts in the Salt Mines for that comment? Sir, yes sir. Time to mine those Neptune and Stalingrad tears.
Dont you mean Aye Aye Sir?
@@halo2player3 true, that would be the correct Navy way of saying yes.
Hilderbrand - The cruiser that can launch planes faster than the Kaga.
Actually Jingles, the Rhode Island was right to use HE. His 14" AP would have bounced off the Hildebrand's bow. Its hull is the same as the Agir.
Oh yes, the tortilla de patatas is excellent and a favourite of mine every summer. You can get them in the supermarkets here in the UK (at least in Tesco last time I checked), and if you want to combine it into the perfect summer sandwich add some sliced ball mozzarella and cured chorizo, and make sure you get some nice baguette bread to put in too. Absolutely worth it, and very refreshing.
Sounds good. One to remember for next summer. Cheers.
Coincidently, Fallow (London Restaurant) have just put up a recipe on their RUclips channel for Spanish tortilla.
The aircraft may not have been much use, but having a flight deck to bounce shells instead of superstructure WAS, at the end.
that was a good player is why his team won. managed his ship superbly
Easy to handle when it's terribly OP
@@cyberchaplain What was OP was Hildebrand's team mate: the island.
The new hybrids have star trek type shields. You saw it here plainly. I've been in matches where 2 bbs with cruiser support needed 6 or 7 salvos each to sink one of these. I suspect that the perfect bat will be coming out soon for this cruise that can launch, recover, refuel and rear planes at a completely unbelievable speed.
Anyone else here in North America unable to sleep right now? It's 4 a.m for me. . . .
California time here DX
Jingles video makes for a nice break at work, 5am
Midnight here in Hawaii … barely able to stay awake personally
I’m in the middle of my shift. This video will be a great distraction.
5:07 A.M.
I’m a night shift nurse with easy patients tonight.
17:25 no one paying attention that Stalingrad broke his two turrets...if he did it second earlier we are not watching this ;)
Good spot and a mute one too since they could have been repaired and reloaded b4 the stalingrad could reload and shoot again.
Thank you! Jolly good show I say, ol' fellow! 😊 Happy holidays from Oklahoma Paul! 🌲⛄🎁☮️
Hello my mighty salt lord. I used to watch your videos everyday way back like 7-8 years ago or so, and i was just thinking about you and how you were doing as you used to always bring me joy. Now while i will admit I don't watch your videos anymore, I am glad to see you are still alive, even more so after watching your shorts and finding out you beat cancer. I wish you the best of luck with continuing your RUclips career and will now return to the salt mines as my yearly 5 minute break is almost up. P.S. give the cats some scratches for me please
Halford, missed but not forgotten.
Absolutely masterful use of the torp impacts to gauge the gun aiming, not sure I've ever seen that done.
Thank you for reminding me why I frigging hate the damn thing in the 1st place sir!
I'm waiting for submarine-aircraft carrier hybrids
An icbm sub...😂😂
Well, the Star Trek event tested guided missiles for them, so maybe not SubCV's. But ICBM subs, missile frigates etc not out of the question.
As much as I hate CV's and Subs in this game, I would actually like to see those.... I think it was I-400 or something similarly named. "Carrier Submarines". Though it would be better if it was for event or something.
I cant wait for the hybrid submarine-carriers with 18 inch guns
@@nurgle11 That can shoot while submerged - that's the important bit ;)
This has to be the BEST game of throws I've ever SEEN ! lol
So many naval defeats have been saved from the Jaws of Victory -------
Low key thought this would be my recent ranked match. We were down 3 caps, 500 pts to 980, and 3 ships to 4. And we pulled it back. Wildest match of my life. Excellent teamwork.
Omg that Stalingrad is next level. What a throw, crazy 😩
GG to him tho, never truly over until it’s over. WP
I honestly didn't see that coming. His own team was always ahead and doing good. For the enemy to throw that hard is impressive. I was greatly entertained =)
NIce video, but I thought you were a bit harsh on the friendly team for not shooting the Marceau, because it was tucked into the corner of that atoll, and even if it could have been seen by the friendly ship, I doubt they could have hit it. Only the Harlem could have really helped due to the spread of firendly team who were all on the eastern side of the map x
His poor back. Great carry frost bite. It’s hard to fly like an eagle when you play with turkeys
to be fair, Frostbite's team got clapped hard because they did exactly what Jingles was advocating for: focusing on the Marceau. thats why their BB died from crossfire in the middle. the Marceau did his job as a rabbit perfectly and brought out the hound in people.
once you're down a BB early in the game, its hard to claw back. espescially with the Stalingrad enemy team had being a pseudo BB when played correctly.
As far as that ending though... Neptune clearly didnt know his ship or what to do with it but i have a nagging feeling the Stalingrad may have fallen victim to undisciplined comms. dude probably had his teammates all typing furiously in chat to finish the Hilde, thats why he tried to use his rear gun and gave broadside
@ yeh but if a destroyer is sighted it should be prioritized
Jingles - a bit of trivia: starting in the 1970s, the US Navy was considering converting the Battleship New Jersey and possibly one or more of her sister ships into hybrids. On RUclips the Battleship New Jersey channel has a video “Battlecarrier: New Research”.
"BaLaNcEd."
Holy cow, that one took a team effort to pull off. Couldn't have done by one person only... Talking about the throw here, obviously.
That should be a British Hybrid... they're driving on the left side of the Sea!
The seas and oceans don't have sides you silly! It all belongs to England. Rule, Britannia old boy!
NICE THROW, indeed.
Seve Ballesteros was from Santander.
At the last second, both the hildes' main guns got destroyed! What a match.
I feel so much better about myself after watching those cruisers bungle it up.
Ok storm, XD nice reference.
Good morning my fellow salt miner's.
Hildebrandt being a hybrid is exactly the reason why he won.
If not for the combined gunfire+torps in smoke, Neptune would've capped and won the game.
To be fair, any ship could have kept firing into the Neptune's smoke even without being a hybrid. The torp bombers gave him some extra help in finding the Neptune, but if he was in a Hindenburg as an example he still could have kept the Neptune from capping just due to volume of fire and that wasn't a very big smoke screen. Shit if he was in a Hindenburg he could have just rushed the smoke, torped the Neptune to death and capped the point himself while the Stalin slowly made it's way around trying to kite.
If our hero had been in a Des Moines given the range at play, he would have just radared the Neptune and had it killed much faster.
Really that Neptune fucked up big time with not only laying a small smoke screen, but also not working with his team mate. That was a throw that would have been a throw almost regardless of the ship our hero had been in. That fact it was a hybrid didn't really matter.
I'd like to point out one flaw here, he could have taken out the Rhode Island early on if he went for it with planes when it was sub 10k hp. same with the stalin.... well end results were the same so all good i guess
Jingles yes you can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink, but if it pisses you off enough you can drown it.
Jingles, morning coffee, and a new htbrid German carrier/cruiser.
You can lead a man to knowledge, but you cant make him think.
That stalingrad's icebreaker sitting on the bottom of the ocean
What the hell did I just watch? The Stalingrad could've easily ram the Hildebrand and win the game, he was at half health and decided to show full broadside to 6 x 305 mm AP... Unbelieveable
What an incredible game! well played sir
Bro carried in the skies and on the seas. WP.
No the marceau was not a good target at all to shoot. Look at the positioning all the other friendlies will have to risk boardside to get clear shots not to mention marceau torps. The halland wouldn't be trying to go for it because it's a marceau...
it's a pocket Battleship Carrier
I am trying to imagine what these hybrids might have played like with the old flight squad mechanics.
Firing and attacking at the same time, that would have been fun!
It's throw time baby!!!! Throw it away as hard and as smooth as you can boys and girls!!!!
I’m actually disappointed that Jingles didn’t say that a CV isn’t a CV when it’s ajar. It’s an old dumb riddle/joke just sitting right there waiting for this exact situation😂
Imagine having rapid firing battle ship guns, the ability to attack from any where on the map and last but not least a shield
Well played Frostbite!
He’d never have won this is it wasn’t a hybrid. The planes kept him from getting the center capped and losing in 1 minute. The enemy didn’t throw. This ships just OP
Ugh add Santander to the list of words Jingles manages to butcher all the time
¡Hola! It is SantanDER (not SanTANder)
I mean that the stress goes in the last syllable ("der"), not in the middle syllable ("tan") as Jingles pronounced it 😅
And, yes tortilla de patatas, usually called tortilla española, is one of the best meals in the world :D
Love that amazing spread of torps from a completely un-aimed drop at the start. God I hate hybrids and especially the Hildebrand
excellent example of a throw. wow.
That stalingrad fought well to the last minute when he gained a fatal rush is shit to the brain
Great video, thanks!
Aircraft might not have had much to do with the win but I agree with your assessment of anything with a flight deck. If wargaming keep this sort of thing up then I'll be happy to leave it as I did World of Tanks.
Nice to see Hildebrand has steerable deflector shields like the Millennium Falcon. Better than Star Trek because they don't degrade much at all with deflected hits. lol
I admit that I like the spotting and like having hybrids on MY team.
Just wait till warfaming adds the conceptualized Japanese super sub that was an aircraft carrier
I only know Santander as that planet Smoke Jaguar invaded 😄
Something to know about world of warships Legends hybrids. They are significantly Nerf in the category of spotting yes you can see the enemy in the mini map but it won't appear at your hood. In other words if there's an island between you won't see the enemy only see it at the mini map no health indicator nothing at all. The same for the carriers and the Dutch ships
Beautiful game forsure
Heh. That Stalingrad killed both of the Hilde's turrets with his dying salvo.
Good afternoon Gnome Overlord. All the best.
Went for ships, got planes
I would love to know the stability of this hybrid. It is so slim. With a masive tower on one side. With a high Flight deck(wich is from steel because we al saw ap bounch of). IRL this thing would capsize in dock when hey would let the water in!
Lovely vid Old man, hope your doing well!
Frostbite making major misplays by wasting torpedo bombers trying to spot or hit the DD...
Where the DD is, is the right spot to not be bothered by anybody other than aircraft of submarine... or inside the archipelago eye itself... Nobody on the OP's team would have been able to fire on the Marceau from their positions.
Stalingrad and Neptune showing broadside... facepalm.
But the Neptune did ricochet a shell - so it was worthwhile to angle.
That was an excellent game.
Wait, a cruiser with battleship guns is generally a battlecruiser, and a battleship with a flight deck is called a battlecarrier…… what is this thing? A Battlecarrser? A Battlecruirrier? A Battlecruiserrier?
Wait, is that a Hybrid ship captain who remembers his ship actually has guns? Say it ain't so.
Tennoheika Banzai
Hello Jingles :D
Good shit as always. Keep on keeping on.
Anyone still playing Wargaming titles either has the patience and capacity to forgive of a saint, or is suffering from stockholm syndrome
I couldn´t understand why the Stalingrad didn´t go from behind. That was the moment of throw.
Geez now weegee just needs to add I401 into the game with aircraft.
It looks so stupid, that these shoots bouncing from a flightdeck.
That Stalingrad and the Neptune are fully representative of what the player base has become. Stupid, greedy, ignorant and just plain bad.
1 vs 3 so they obviously come agains him broadside 1 by 1. Classic!
nice throw
Not saying the hybrids can't be powerful, but in my experience, they usually are NOT. They seldom fire their guns, play like CVs, and especially in ranked with only 6 ships, you need a ship that's having major battle impact in a short period of time. Plane spotting a DD that no one has shots on is worthless.
Tone cries in the corner ..
always a goodun !
I call ships like the Stalingrad and the Alaska battlecruisers. Not "extremely" heavy cruisers, not large cruisers, just plain old battlecruisers. I got the idea from you, Jingles. From that USS Alaska replay several years back. The one where you continued to say "Go ahead. SMASH that dislike button".
Epic fail for the enemy. Lol
Nice firepower.
How did the Neptune and Stalingrad captains not know their ships? That was criminally bad play
I still have some learning to do with aiming haven't played in almost four years and even then i didn't have the best aim but it was better it is now
good vid!
Wonder why we didn't see hybrid carriers in WW2 ???
The Japanese actually built a few, and the USN sank them.
@lunsmann The USN actually planned to sell them to Russia but the Navy doesn't like it.
The British actually came up with the idea first, but they laugh at it and let Japan have the plans.
I´m not a fan of hybrid ships. Having said that, I think this was a masterclass. Probabaly one of the BEST games I´ve seen. Our protagonist made NO MISTAKE, at all. Opportunist and clever. On the Hilde, the reload is too much for the gun caliber. Great use of planes and cover. Great game.
Blitzkrieg in one ship
Who's "reload that Smolensk could beat"?... - wherever he wonted to get, it would take him another 30-40 secs ...
Avg WoWs Ranked battle now xD
