This to me is his best live performance of his interpretation of the song - the second part is epic. You only need to look at the faces of the other musicians with him to know that this one is special. Perhaps the presence of all those young guitarists brought the best out of him. It would be sad to think of him as this lonely - a great player.
Check out "Joe Bonamassa Sloe Gin James Bell X cover" The very first video top of the playlist, it'll blow your mind. He was on the verge of flowering, then got struck down with meningitis. But really, the guy should be selling out stadiums right now. Oh and check the James Bell link top of the comments. He's in need of serious help. 🇬🇧👍🇺🇸
As a Guitarist for 50 years and many bands . 10 years ago i understood what makes a band great... And what makes this version stand out to all over versions is Tal Bergman ! Some of you may be lucky to understand this wisdom.
I heard so many versions of this wonderful song. It is as if it gets deeper and deeper in feeling. You should listen to the Vienna version: pure, simple feeling! Thank you JOE BONAMASSA for being so great a musician!
I listened to that song and tried to drown myself in sloe gin ... it didnt die ... fortunately ... because I had to come back and listen again before I ran out of air ... heart touching, best version of Bonamassas Sloe Gin on youtube!
I saw Joe live in Sacramento from the first row in the balcony man it was good, He is easily the best guitarist out there today. Gilmour, liefson, Iommi, and the other greats have to make way for this master.
He works the knobs, pickup selector & everything in between when he performs and pulls every drop of tone out of his gear! Just love watching and hearing him play!!!
Saw him live a few years ago. Awesome show. He was opening for B.B. King, and I hate to say it, but I could have just listened to Joe all night, and probably wouldn't have noticed if B.B. never made it on stage. Which brings to mind...considering how many years Joe opened for B.B., I'll bet he learned a thing or three about how to treat your fans from the Great King of the Blues.
In my last comment, I forgot to note the incredible talent, artistry, and precision Joe Bonamassa brings to the table. All the finest equipment in the world won't help you play like this without the dedication and raw talent he displays. This is by far his finest song to date. What a performance!!!
I've played blues guitar all my life, almost 20 years professionally. Blues to me is an outlet for emotions of the player and the listener. When it works, it is pure joy. What I don't understand is all this sniping of top level guitar players. Want to meet a real prick? Try some club owners when they are pulling their tricks on working musicians. A mean spirited or incompetent club owner will give you the real blues. Rock on JB! Thanks for keeping it alive and not playing metal!
'O Joe, that stuff goes down too easily; I recall from my youth! You are a dynamite guitar player/man. Pain has little mercy...in my experience. I think you are very special...Happy 2022! Dining out tonight? I pray for your safety, always. Statistics are staggering. Many blessings... (I'll come by again; when it seems like someone's home. Brought you some black~eyed peas.) Much love, Joe. Lonely too...
Recently saw him in San Jose. WOW!!! Everything I expected and more... I love this version Sloe Gin. He never disappoints. I think this quote pretty much sums it up; "Put your ear down close to your soul and listen hard." ~Anne Sexton
one of the best guitar players alive.... one of the best electric guitars ever manufactured (That´s spot... a 1959 original burst) what else could I ask for?
The tone from that solo makes me think its coming out of one of his Marshall Jubilee amps pumping that out, totally screamed Marshall tone, effing awesome song all around totally unsure how two people could dislike this.
To me he is the best because of his huge versatility and raw talent but I do think that there are many who come close to his greatness. And also that is my opinion, I can totally see that someone else might think differently.
Some one has to keep this style and type of music going. The boy can play. and he has soul. He's one of my top picks to keep the Guitar god rock blues thing goin. I just wish he would use a slide a little more often.
I dont see why people are hating on bonamassa, he is not copying eric johnson! He has his own unique style that is based on the blues and many of his influences, like johnson.
I'm 61 years old and I've seen 'em all from Beck to Zappa and everyone in between and Joe Bonamassa is as good as any.
Yes, sir. He really is one of them. : ) One of the biggest. CHeers to Joe.
Absolutely, he is a tremendous talent. Matt Schofield is another who plays brilliantly.
as ,, but not better
❤what a magnificent version. I love it tremendously ❤
It's 2024, I still love this rendition of Sloe Gin. The solo is just *chefs kiss*
Different strokes for different folks. Not everyone appreciates or even understands Joe's gift and genius.

One of the best performances of this song I have seen.
AGREED!!
that solo alone is pure gold!

Joe Bonamassa Is one of the finest musicians the world has ever known
This solo tone is fantastic
Exactly! I've never heard anything that smooth.
+Shaun Gangel Sooooo creamy and huge! I love it
It's all fender amps he uses.. mixes bassman and tweeds or something. It is remarkable.
@@mumenrider862 He's only using marshalls in this video. He was in his marshall silver jubilee era back then. Now he's back to fenders.

Love Joe, been following him for years
Incredible song! Can't get enough of it!

John Mayer brought me into guitar-playing, Joe Bonamassa threw me out again. Amazing. :P
This made me cry! Damn so good!
Recently saw him in San Jose. WOW!!! Everything I expected and more... I love this version Sloe Gin. He never disappoints.

just great - what a talent God has given him
I went to see him live yesterday!! AMAZING
Banamassa is one of the best, just awsome, so envious of the way he gets into his playing, he and the guitar are one, amazing.
those of us who truly respect and admire a true artist possibly
one of the best guitar players alive.... one of the best electric guitars ever manufactured (That´s spot... a 1959 original burst) what else could I ask for?
UNBELIEVABLE
The "Battle" was over with that performance !!
My goosebumps have goosebumps.
The tone from that solo makes me think its coming out of one of his Marshall Jubilee amps pumping that out, totally screamed Marshall tone, effing awesome song all around totally unsure how two people could dislike this.

wowowowow KILLER TONE on the solo OMG :D
Thanks, Steve. That was exactly my original post above. Joe simply doesn't need it. Have a great evening.
awesome guitarist!
Cool version of Sloe Gin, still none will ever top Joe's version at Royal Albert Hall.
Thanks, caesio01, so much for this reply! It's awesome tone. My very favorite amps are Trainwrecks and JTM45s. No wonder the tone is so fabulous!!!
VERY BEAUTIFUL!!! AWESOME!!!!!
Nice version, nice solo, nice glasses, great performance :)
that blew me away-thanks 4 sharing that
once a day is what i need of this song!!!
that guitar sounds amazing!
For those out there who wonder why so many think he is the best living guitarist...
This is why.
Watched many videos. LOVE to see what quitar he plays. Telling you what he is going to do
That's just a matter of the media, not my generation. Wow, the tone on this guitar is unlike anything i've heard before, great soul.
watching this, thinking shit, cant wait to get my gibson next year! was looking at it today, honestly JB is the biggest inspiration of my life!
bonamassa. probably the smoothest guitarist in the world.
To me he is the best because of his huge versatility and raw talent but I do think that there are many who come close to his greatness. And also that is my opinion, I can totally see that someone else might think differently.
Well I am one young musician who will not let Blues die out.
Epic and emotional
my pleasure mate!
So Damned Excellent !
Love the way he builds a song up to a climatic explosion ......just awesome to watch !
Extraordinary dynamics and structure.
Simply great. Just great.
joe is now page is then-i saw zep in 75 and joe recently-love joe
It may not have been his own song but it definitely is his Anthem! JOe just rips this one, both vocally and guitar wise.
Pretty much every time. This one especially. When he goes back to that D at 7:43 it's just freakin' amazing.
This is the best version.
Saw him at Calling Festival last night. F**king amazing!
Oh. My. God. His tone. It’s crying.
What a great performance!
Agreed, love the solos on both.
seems like JB finally tapped into the spirit of this tune. it is not an easy one, and it takes age, mileage, and heartbreak to play it right.
Amazing... wonderful!!! My God!!
Some one has to keep this style and type of music going. The boy can play. and he has soul. He's one of my top picks to keep the Guitar god rock blues thing goin. I just
wish he would use a slide a little more often.
He's doing really well so far
This guitar tone can kill anyone.
yes.
Damn he just gets better and better Kudos Joseph
I love Joe, Clapton, and a few others. If Clapton and Joe were playing the same night at nearby venues, which would you choose to see?
wow great performance!
Mano o cara quebra! Isto sim é inspiração!
Amazing!!!
I dont see why people are hating on bonamassa, he is not copying eric johnson! He has his own unique style that is based on the blues and many of his influences, like johnson.
never saw JB using a Trainwreck amp. + This is the best vocal performance that I ever heard from him.
