Did one of those signs you saw say "Khalistan"? If so, it is a Sikh separatist group that advocates for a separate area ("Khalistan") for Sikhs back in the Punjab. I guess there's a sizable Sikh population in Calgary.
Yes, lots of people carried flags with the Khalistan message. What's funny is that this is Canada, and all these people left (betrayed) their country of India, but now they go on demonstrations to get separated from India and create their own Sikh country Khalistan. If you're such a big patriot of your home country, why did you LEAVE? I think these people are just bored and they have too many TV cable channels...
