In which Ike "borrows" the Home Run Contest bat and increases his Luck stat beyond what's physically possible. This is a Tool Assisted Speedrun that aims to complete Classic Mode on the hardest difficulty as fast as possible. Custom equipment and special moves were used; while the equipment was hacked into the game, it was calculated to be possible for the game to randomly generate. The equipment set chosen spawns Ike with a Home Run bat, increases the bat's swing speed by 30%, and gives him a 20% chance to deal critical hits that do 300% more damage. The general strategy for this set is to bat-swing all the main opponents in the five regular fights, and then abuse RNG to get critical hits in the final boss fight against Master Core. While it seems fairly simple, it was rather frustrating to get everything to play out how I wanted. The CPUs in this game infamously read your own inputs on higher difficulties, which means I had to do some rather obtuse movement in order to play them right into a bat swing in many instances. The most frustrating thing was the boss fight against Master Core. The only way to properly see if one gets a Critical Hit is to see how much damage one dealt to an enemy. Because Master Core's very HP is hidden for almost all of its phases, seeing if my hits were critical hits was almost impossible. What's worse, Citra doesn't seem to have any compatible RAM Watch software yet (As Cheat Engine didn't find what I was looking for), and my attempts to remove the swarm of black particles from Master Core's HUD showed that there was no physical damage counter even there. With that said, I still think this is a very solid run for a first attempt at an actual Tool Assisted Speedrun of the mode (The run with Ganondorf was more of a playaround). RNG could be improved (As always), especially with the Master Core fight. With everything perfect, I think a sub-3 time might be possible.
@@Tainted1 ???????? Bad frame data, bleh recovery & mobility (in games that aren't PM at least). Definutely not a bad character, but not cheap or overpowered.
Also, how hard would it be to hack in a number of small level 1 Jigglypuffs set to stay at the position of the boss? Then you could look at them for the damage
Master Core is my favourite Master Hand fight in the series, such a cool boss with multiple phases. I preferred 3DS because then I didn’t have to deal with Master Fortress. I remember my first 9.0 clear was with Mega Man
Man, I miss Ike's old voice. What I don't miss is the lack of balloon knockback though. And to think I was concerned about it ruining Ultimate before it released lol! Every old Smash game now seems slow by comparison
I think about that sometimes. I was also scared of balloon knockback breaking the game, but it's perfectly fine. Can't agree on Ike's voice though. Missed it at first but I came to realize the new voice fits him better
You know how increased damage increases the freeze frame multipliers? Since the crits are apparently 3x damage, there should be a noticable increase in freeze frames when a crit occurs, which could be used for future TASes as a subtle visual indicator that a crit occured
The increase in freeze frames only occurs on the person that got hit by a critical hit, not the dealer of the hit itself. And because bosses (Including Master Core) aren't affected by freeze frames or hit lag at all, this doesn't help.
3:03 Does the fully-charged Erupt deal more damage/knockback in Smash 4? I know that it's not the case in Brawl, but as far as I know no-one has even asked about this online.
@@duhimdave I mean yeah Master Hand and Crazy Hand is pretty good here, but it's a boring classic mode. Also it's way worse on Wii U where it's too unbalanced.
Not sure if this comment is a joke or not, but there's an option to reduce the character outlines if that's what you're talking about, like the size of the black lines surrounding the characters

I am so happy to finally learn what was behind the black particles blocking the health, thank you

I love how Master Hand starts contorting and shaking violently, and yet Ike is the one who says “prepare yourself.” Absolute unit.
Madlad he is.

Ike when he finds out Master Hand hurt one of his friends:
*"You'll get no sympathy from me" intensifies*
Imagine going to a war zone, running in, and someone just hits you with a bat so hard you fly into the horizon.
Yoshi: *upsmashes in front of Ike's face*
Ike: *"So you have chosen death."*
“READY”
“GO!”
“GAME”
“VERSUS”
I remember doing this difficulty it was such a pain. It makes me smile seeing a TAS do this.
Ike but he's been drinking a lot of energy drinks.
Man that caffeine is doing wonders to him.
I forgot about 3DS classic mode and what it was like.
Also who ever thought the home-run bat badge was ever a good idea, lol
This is what happens if Ike touches Lehran's Medallion.

So is that mean Ike is no more a swordfighter but batfighter?
He’s a warrior and that’s his club.
Screw being a warrior, he should become a baseball player.

My two favorite things, Ike & TAS by Dyllon❤
2:41 Would it have been possible to land both hits of down smash when Master Beast (or the swords) spawn?
Yes, but the issue of critical hits and not being able to tell if they landed is still currently present.
0:19 the sinc tho
I always like countering the attacks of the smash run enemies and master core, it just feels more satisfying to me idk why
Ike should give Ness some pointers.
That was a well played and I give it a 10 out 10. It was so amazing
