      Why does the defense have to give its time frame for when they plan to rest their case? The American judicial system is adversarial. The state is the adversary, and the Judge should be a non-biased referee.

    • @ampere11
      @ampere11 Год назад +72

      @@VictorGarcia-vw7nq the judge is upset because the defense rested after saying they would have considerably more to present. If the defense had notified that they plan on resting early then the prosecution could have been prepared for the next steps of the case to start (being prepared for rebuttal).
      It's disrespectful to the entire system because it's a waste of time and resources. Like the judge explained, the lawyers and staff are there to work the defense portion of the trial and the defense flippantly rests leaving them stalled.
      Courts rely partly on decorum to be efficient (not interrupting eachother for example). The defense didn't break the rules, just the decorum of the court. Hence why they got dressed down by the judge.

    • @nonombre5409
      @nonombre5409 Год назад +14

      @@VictorGarcia-vw7nq The defense knows how long a witness will take because they do a type of dry run to prepare the witness for certain questions that might come up. There are companies that deal in mock trials which kind of helps either side kind of see what kind of questions could come up and also shows the lawyers how the witnesses might react to being questioned.

Why does he still have the right to a fair trial after he plead guilty?!?! I really do hate our legal system.
