This was the only moment that made me want to cry the entire show.

He strode through the raging fire, his face plastered into an emotionless expression like a blank canvas. In his arms, he held a girl who looked so exhausted she might as well be dead. But when he saw the swords, spears, arrows, and guns pointed in their direction, the emotion came bursting forth, like water rushing from a dam that had shattered into thousands of pebbles and small rocks. The armies stood there, trained on them like a pack of wolves already on their cornered prey. But the armies of each nation made one grave miscalculation. They weren't the wolves.
"Sir, he's backed us against a cliff with no support. We've been cornered."

@@ahanakazi3759 this is not too far from the anime's story....in the ending, Dr Danny lit up the building, Ray and Zack were shot badly....Zack picked up Ray and took her out of the building with his left strength...outside, the police were waiting for him...they arrested him...he gave up himself so Ray can get emergency treatment...he was a murderer before....but they kept their promise- if Ray helps him get out of that building, he will kill her in return
A few months later, when Zack would be executed and Ray was in rehab with a psychologist, that night, Ray heard her window broke...and there he was: Zack came for her..." Come on, Ray! We don't have much time left" said Zack as the police was already on their way
"Zack...please...kill me"
"If that's what you want, then stop crying and smile!" ...and they jumped out of the window...
Those were the last moments of the anime...
You should search up Angels of Death's ending scene....and the music there was really good too- it's called Rachel's theme-life. You should definitely hear it! At around 1:30, the music holds so strong emotions....it hits really hard...especially if you watched the show before...

dapet 225 I believe the implication in mixing it up is that Death itself does not exist. It’s simply an ending. Nothing at all. People project romance and a life hearafter unto death, or “a peaceful slumber” but life is all there is. This life full of conflict, compromise and imperfections is all that humanity will receive.
Or that would be my guess at what such a reversal is trying to say.

It really is a bittersweet image, isn't it? This moment doesn't make me cry like it seems to do for a lot of fans, but it does hurt.

It's such a good show! It's far from perfect, but it doesn't need to be. And the manga is really good, too!
Vayos stood as the last bastion. Ironic in his role , that Death would defend all life. However it was untold for eons that death only came for those at the end of the required time, swiftly , unexpectedly , but necessary. It did not mean that when he saw each soul each one that his own "heart" didn't sink a little lower. But for the sake of balance he had to hide these feelings . Else the balance of the universe would be in flux, no order but chaos the very thing he fought against now. He protected her, Life , with great prejudice as he fought against his brother , Viktor, the embodiment of chaos, defending her from him as should existence fade his main means for even existing would be gone , no more balance no more existence to keep balanced and that was Viktor's aim and it could, would and should not come to pass. The battle waged on and Chaos overwhelmed him, until he felt a hand on his, a warmth he hadn't felt in a long while, a love that he had promised beyond eternity as he turned to face her, her flesh melting slowly , the price of life touching death as he turned to face his brother once more, in ages past they had been simple creatures, both called to a higher destiny, a demon to become a vessel for life , as she cherished all creatures , an ironic turn of fate and he the vessel for death as he cherished balance and so he became her guardian , her butler a reaper in service to a demon, and then Death in service to life. To take her gifts that she'd give him and keep them forevermore. They fought together against the tides of chaos and with resounding roars of defiance chased Chaos back to its prison where flames of purity burned away at its form, to keep it in check and to keep the balance pure , but as ti always does Chaos will find a way to free itself and like so many times long past balance will be kept.

Yeah, it's funny and a little awkward knowing the truth about these two. So many people seem to think Rachel is pure and innocent, and that Zack is noble and selfless. Little do they know that both are madder than a sack of cats and that this image captures what might be about the only noble and selfless thing Zack ever did in his life. Sort of drives home the fact that, if circumstances had been different, they would have turned out differently.
