    ........................
The Old Manali village is situated less than 2 kms from the Mall road. It’s located along the Manalsu rivulet.
The village is called OLD Manali to distinguish it from an expanding Manali town.
Manali village and the entire town are named after sage Manu, who according to Indian mythology, is the first man created by God. According to a legend, sage Manu after having survived the great flood had started living at this place.
A temple dedicated to sage Manu is right at the top of the village. It’s one of a kind temple in the entire country which has been built for sage Manu.
The other places you can visit in and around Old Manali are the Hadimba temple and Siyali Mahadev temple.
At less than hour’s walk from the Old Manali, Hadimba temple is one of the most popular temples of the entire Kullu valley. Dedicated to demon goddess Hadimba, this temple was built more than 500 years ago.
Near Hadimba temple is the Siyali Mahadev temple. An archeologically and historically important structure, Siyali Mahadev temple is dedicated to lord Shiva. It’s believed to have been built between the 8th and 11th centuries.
First popularised by foreign travellers, Old Manali continues to be a favourite haunt of foreign visitors.
And if you are in Old Manali, then you can’t miss or escape the Hippie vibe. The Hippie influence is more than apparent here - on the village walls, in cafes, restaurants and in the hippie jewellery and other Bohemian stuff sold here.
In Old Manali, you can visit the Club House if you feel like playing indoor games or shopping. It’s run by the Himachal Tourism Department.
But one place you must not miss visiting is this beautiful spot in Old Manali. This patch of forest by a Manalsu rivulet is near the entry gate to Old Manali. You can spend some good time here, literally in the lap of nature.
