This is 100% the clearest video I have ever watched. Rebuilt a whole carb for the first time in about 2 hours with your videos. 10/10 execution in how you explain everything. Thank you for such a high quality video!
A suggestion. Instead of holding the top of the carb with your hand when measuring the float drop, get a couple of brinks (stacked) and set the carb top on the bricks (fuel bowls hanging down). Now you have both hands free to measure, and not shaking (particularly for us older types).
I can't imagine a better carb rebuilding video. Excellent camera angles and lighting, clear step by step instructions. Perfect! Subscribed.
Thanks for posting I feel a little bit more confident now rebuilding mine
Dude! Your video series was absolutely perfect! Thank you soooooo much man! I was pretty intimidated being this was my first carb I've ever rebuilt. I'm pretty mechanically inclined but, I've never tackled a full size carb before. But this video was super helpful man! You gave my the confidence to just go for it and I'm glad I did cause looking back, it wasn't even that hard. Anyway, top notch video! Thanks again bud!!👍👍🍻

Soooo....I am DIY'er with a 1964 Corvette that has a Carter 3460S carb. I have been plagued with rough idle issues and can't find anyone in my community that will work on carburetors. I have wrestled with rebuilding the carb (it is original to the matching numbers car) but until I saw the videos have been reluctant to try rebuilding. Part one and two are so well done that I am going to order a rebuild kit! Thanks Kyle!
He's the Bob Ross of carb cleaning. Very calming voice. Great video!!!
The new accelerator pump spring is smaller on one end. It goes into the bottom of the well. The bigger end attaches to the pump. You can use a credit card for electric choke adjustment. Place credit card against choke horn and adjust electric choke so choke butter fly just touches credit card and then tighten down 3 phillip screws hold downs.
Thank you for this video series! It has saved me a tremendous amount of money and stress! My car runs great now!
oh that's genius to do the plunger in the top portion first. I set it down in the bottom portion then fed it through carefully. duh! I rebuilt an AFB from a 58 DeSoto with a 350 mopar motor. Very easy carbs to rebuild. Thing fired right up afterward. Will need minimal tuning. Great vid series!
Thank you very much for the videos. They are very useful and easy to follow. I was able to rebuild my carb and fix my issue thanks to your videos. Thank you.
Great tip about reversing the jets to fall into place perfectly.
Epic Video! Headed out to the garage now to do the deed. Thanks!
Also a set of dental picks are great for rebuilding carbs with small parts.
And Q-tips for cleaning those corners inside works great.
Oh yeah btw, my boat purrs like a kitten now! Thanks again man!
Thanks for the walk through! I hope this does the trick for my 4.3l merc cruiser. It was bogging down under load. Seemed like the floats were way off from where they should have been when putting it all back together, so hopefully that was the problem (everything else seemed to be in good shape).
Good video to follow. My Carb is a manual choke and everything was exactly the same. Just forward through that part. Thanks for the help.
This was great. I feel confident now. Thank you!
Thanks Buddy! Well explained and super helpful. 🤠
Thank You very much. Very informative and detailed instructions. learned a lot.
Thanks for the video. Made the job so much easier.
Well got it done. Thank You. your hands sometimes get in the way. I really had trouble finding where to put the large spring. I used the diagram that came with the kit. Now we just pray it starts.
Great video! Everyone, there is NO reason to use loc-tite on anything! It didnt come from the factory that way.
Thanx for both great video’s from out of The Netherlands 👍
Outstanding job
Wow awesome step by step video
I reman a lot of caburators over 42 years, to do a good cleaning you must use carburator cleaner as Gunk an let's soak all metal parts for about 30 minutes , rince with hot water and blow all parts with compressed air. In the kit you must find instructions about ajusting many important system of the carb , choke pull off, unloader , fast idle cam , fast idle rpm, accelerator pump rod, meetering rod plunger, float level , secondary trottle opening , ect reman a carburator is not only a cleaning job , the most important is all those ajustements, Please ! NEVER use a rag that lint can obstruc tiny passage in the carb use compress air
I wanted to say the same thing. The rag he used to clean the carb would have left an unacceptable amount of lint. Also, there is something to be said for putting all parts on the side of the carb you remove it from. This guy likes to put his same parts together, and that makes it too easy to mix them up.
thanks for posting this very helpful video
Great video series. I would just add to remove the air cleaner stud before removing or replacing the top because it can tear your air horn gasket and the carb will not run right :-)
Awesome 👍 video, Very helpful and educational. Thank you
Video is pretty good. Literally building mines step by step. Hate that he pulled out that drill bit for the floats...I don’t think a lot of people have that around them. Gotta find a video that now shows how to set floats with supplied paper gauge..
Great video thanks for posting it. I need to buy the kit and start working on my Edelbrock.
For the idle mixture screws, it looks like you only adjusted them out half as far as they need to go. That was two half turns and an 1/8th turn if I am not mistaken.
He backed them out where they should have been. He didn't use full turns in the first video he used half turns.
1 and 1/2 is the starting point and you adjust from there.
Impressed with your vocabulary and clarity of instruction. Hello, thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Your instructions were step-by-step great, on my side I ran into a problem where I bought my carburetor in pieces and the guy must’ve forgot to throw in the secondary Venturi so now I’m stuck. I’m not sure if other victories from a different model size of another Edelbrock carburetor will fit. If you see this message can you let me know? If not no worries I’ll figure it out.
Recalling from memory the Accelerator Pump shot was the top hole?
i have found out that if you dont have to take the jets out DONT. it just isnt needed. also the float drop is not needed to set, as the float hits the bottom of the float floor first. also try 7/32 float level and see if that works for you
Great pair of videos. Did the choke linkage not belong in the top hole where it was originally found? Or do I remember incorrectly?
I thought about that too
It came out of the top hole.
The accelerator pump linkage was installed in the wrong hole. Originally in top hole per part one.
Hmmm. Most informative.
When you put the accelerator pump linkage back on, it was reversed from how it came off; was it wrong way round when it came off, or did it go back on wrong?
Perhaps it is just the camera, but the primary venturi old gaskets don't look fully cleaned out?
Your video was very helpful thank you
My old weight had a point and there was no ball bearing present. Is that another option that was available?
Best video
Did I miss the gas filter stone?
How will the carb act if the check ball is stuck. Will it cause flooding?
Great videos! Getting ready to do mine. Just one thing, is there a reason you didn't install that last choke linkage? I ask because mine is missing.
He didn’t set the secondary butterfly opening with respect to the primary butterflies (bend the linkage to get the correct spacing measurement). Not a critique of the great tutorial, just a note that there is another potential setting to check.
More DIY please!
Nice tutorial thanks for posting
Dirty work table : possible dirt back in the carb. C'mon ! And no compressed air to clear any passages ?
That's the same thought I had, glad to see you did too.
Me to, why not have a clean workplace before assembling. He didnt even let the parts soak for a minute, and all parts should be blown clean with air. I bet all the passages are still full of debries.
Good job
Hi, i am having problems with the primary jets dripping constantly on AB Carter 9700 and flooding the carb, i have replaced the needle and seats, the original needles had a clip to help the needle open when the float falls but it seems to be causing the float to stick. Would you recommend the use of the clip? as i noticed you dont have them on the floats in your video.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated.
Regards Steve Fish
What sizes were the jets and metering rods? The Edelbrock Carb Owner's Manual will tell you what the carb came with stock. Also how to read the codes engraved in them.
We where looking in the old parts of the carburetor and we noticed baffle plates, and we didn't see the part where you put them in is that bad?
so what happens if you need the float bowl baffle plates??? where do you get them???
I rebuilt the same carb today and when I went to start my truck it would not hold idle? Any suggestions?
Excelente presentación
I didn't mark my idle mixture screws. How critical is this?
I guess they don't make the blue (relatively) reusable gaskets for the Edelbrocks/Carters?
Do you have an email where i can send you some pictures of my carburetor linkage? Who ever took the carburetor off remove the some linkages off and im not sure if i placed the new one on correct.
16:46 float level should b 5/16 or sides of float parallel with the bowl cover
Arin the edelbrock guy says 7/16 too ,so what should they be then
@@steveflewelling67 the paper instruction sheet that came with my carb kit said 5/16
@@inspireonex ok thanks
First LAST!!!! Ooooouuuuuu I'm always on the cutting edge!
You forgot to install the gasket and star washer in the top housing for the accelerator pump. At 1:10 of the video you left them in the box as spare parts... Nope! Your rebuild will be squirting fuel out of the top the accelerator pump housing. BIG mistake for a Hagerty video!
22:53
That screw brought me here🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😇😙😙😙😇😇😇😇
Didnt put on the final linkage.
Shut up man!
Hmmmm. No ultrasound cleaning??
I just wanted to add that the word "carburetor" is from the French and it means "don't eff with it".
Accelerator pump that is
Skipped which way s connection goes
28:25 well what if there is resistance? I can’t get my metering rods to seat!
keep plunging it carefully, it'll find its spot n sit.
at 10:45 that is completely unnecessary. your adjustments might not be the same as before after cleaning and rebuilding the carburetor. you could have just ran them both down backed them off about a turn and a half or two turns and then just re tuned it once the carb is on the engine running so you know its right for its current internal flow state.
These refurb kits are a ripoff! They give you a bunch of parts that you are never going to use instead of omitting these parts and charging less for the kit. It is like cable tv channels, a bunch of channels that you never watch!
Great video by the way!
Hi
Rebuild an engine like honda or LS style
your "2 1/2" turns was only one turn

How can you make a professional video when you fail to remove all the old gasket material from the venturis, you guys must have extra bolts when you are done with your projects
Big👍 bro....🇮🇳
Edelbrock Performer series carbs are junk! New, rebuilt, still junk. They are so proud of their carb that they offer a 90 day warranty. Needless to say, mine is holding up the corner of my workbench.
My Edelbrock carb has been the perfect street carb for my car. I have a 1979 Camaro with a SBC 400 and a 2.41 posi rear end. At 600cfm I have all the torque I need, instant throttle response, and enough cfm to hit 120mph. I also didn't have to rebuild the carb for 15 years. My carb only had problems right before, and after I rebuilt it, I need to rebuild it again. Otherwise, I would be happy to trade you a wood block for your Eddy carb, because I would hate to see a great carb being used as a prop just because someone doesn't understand how to tune it.
learn how to tune
@@megaeverything101 I do. I put a Holley on it and problem solved.
First
Hey I rebuilt my carb and now I’m getting no fuel into the carb at all any advice??
