That's so true whatever you said about the US. It literally feels competitive in the office.

I've stumped upon a lot of your insights from your research and anecdotes from your experiences on my own internet research as well and your list of differences is the same reason why I am exploring moving from the US to EU or UK. I enjoy working on interesting problems with talent people but I value work life balance. I don't like consumerism and don't care for materialistic things. A balanced life of stimulating and interesting work as well as my own hobbies/interests. I want to take a week off to climb a mountain and not feel bad about it. I want to train my biking, running, climbing, etc and not be stressed about work in my off hours. People obsess and idealize a lot more in the US and make work the center of their life.

Good to see to you back!
Can you make content on how much difficult it is to survive in FAANG level companies for an average software engineer? Mostly what I am interested to know is how is the code quality, software architecture etc followed in FAANG and how much one can feel overwhelmed while dealing with them when they are just beeing a Leetcode monkey!
    Thanks ❤

Sure, I was planning on a ramble video about how working at Meta isn't really that hard. The ideas can probably be extrapolated to other FAANGS because the same topics come up

@@crackfaang sure you can first ramble about Meta. I know many people still fear a lot about performance at Meta and refrain from interviewing. This would really help. The type of teams and their respective wlb would be a glod summary and will help the community.

How did you negotiate your salary in UK? Are you still paid on USA rates? (I wonder Meta policy)

    • @crackfaang

There is no negotiation. You get a new salary based on the range of the UK office pay + your level. The RSUs you already have stay the same. There's nothing you can do about it.
