What an amazing song, singing with miracolous ease ... The Ricky's satin voice is something delicious what give me more willingness to life. Fantastic singer, super artist!
Super Ricky : j'ai fredonné tant de fois cette chanson; maintenant j'ai les paroles exactes en anglais. Ma chanson préférée après "Hello Mary-Lou" ! Claude Adam.
im 18 years old. I don't like music in todays generation. I prefer music from the 50's and the 60's. poor little fool by ricky nelson is one of my top favorites.
It ´s a great song which in my country a group did a "Cover" and was a super hit, the name of these group is "Johnny and his band" or "Johnny y su conjunto". I invite you to meet this Mexican group of the 60's on RUclips and hear you his song. Cover mean: A adaptation to Spanish (in this case) with some changes in the arrangement, letter and music!!
Ricky had a great voice, remember Travellin' Man and Hello Mary Lou great double sided single when I was at school. This particular one is a favourite.
On this day in 1958 {August 31st} Ricky Nelson performed live in front of an audience for the first time; it was at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Twenty-seven days earlier his "Poor Little Fool" peaked at #1 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart and spent 15 weeks on the Top 100. Opening for Ricky were the Four Preps; who at the time were on the Top 100 themselves with "Lazy Summer Night", which reached #21. R.I.P. Mr. Nelson, aka Eric Hilliard Nelson, {1940 - 1985}.
This song was written by a 15 YEAR OLD GiRL named Sharon Sheeley. Sharon had met Elvis Presley who encouraged her to write songs. “Poor Little Fool” was based on her disappointment following a short-lived relationship with Don Everly of The Everly Brothers & she sought out non-other than teen idol ⭐️ Ricky Nelson ⭐️ to record the tune. She drove to Ricky’s house & claimed that her car had broken down. When Ricky came to her aid, she sprang the song on him. Ricky Nelson recorded “Poor Little Fool” on April 17th, 1958 & released it on Imperial Records. The recording features the background vocals of the Jordanaires (back-up vocalists borrowed from the king himself, Mr. Elvis Aaron Presley). On August 4th, 1958, “Poor Little Fool” became the very first NUMBER ONE song on Billboard magazine's then brand-new Hot 100 chart. It spent two weeks at the number-one spot. It also reached the top 10 on the Billboard Country and Rhythm and Blues charts. ❤️
My all time favorite song, and I am a muso myself. It is not hard to tell especially the 3rd and 4th verses, that this song was written by a woman. The very talented Sharon sheeley in a time when music had meaning
The innocence of the 50's! Great time to be young!
Yes, it was. The best of times being a teenager in love.
My grandma had this song on a record and it use to skip and skip. I wish youtube was around before she passed away. Miss you Janet B. Morris
