The words and sentiments from this video have been brewing for a while in my mind. There’s so much stuff to view online, so much to take in, so much mental fog that clouds our minds each and every day. It’s one of the reasons I had to take a step back from creating - I felt like a machine, forcing out idea after idea, week after week. I just wanted to live my life, run my business, be present with family, focus on moving into our new home. And I did just that. I’m trying to reinvigorate the spark that I once had when creating videos, learning to enjoy the process of creating content rather than churning it out just for the sake of views. I know I always say, “hope you enjoy the video,” but for once, I found myself 100% enjoying the creative process of writing and filming this one. So, let’s enjoy the video together (:
This video is so good. Since 2019 I had been thinking about deleting FB. But I guess I felt I "needed" it. Finally a few months ago I did it. And I removed IG from my phone. I had grown to hate the cravings to get on social media and in general the "noise" in my head. I always loved to read but eventually, from the constant stimulation, I couldn't focus my mind long enough to finish a book. At times I would think back to how I used to be happy before smart phones and SM. I realized I didn't need it. Social media just isn't good for my mental or emotional wellbeing. Eventually my husband also removed FB, IG and Reddit from his phone. I'm glad I made the digital detox.
@@tinalemna7998 you can make that change too.🙌🏻😊 you don’t have to delete social media, just practice limiting it. It’s hard to kick the habit cold turkey lol
I appreciate this video and thank you for this comment. I used to love reading but I have so many books that I’ve started but haven’t finished in a few years. I’ve been saying it’s burn out from Grad School…. Grad School was years ago so I need to stop blaming it.
This comes at the right moment! I've been feeling burned out lately, just to realize that a huge part of it was because I constantly supplied by informations I don't really need through the internet. Thank you Christine!
Lovely soothing video! I also LOVE the way your home is arranged and the neutral colors. My current apartment is furnished sparsely, by choice, and my future apartment will probably be even more minimal! I find it takes courage and conviction as almost everyone suggests that there "should" be more furniture as well as more wall decoration. I find that space is a luxury and embodies serenity itself. I am grateful to stand by my principles and be "different"!
Thank you for another wonderful video! I decluttered my digital life awhile back and it's been one of the best decisions I've ever made. I don't use social media (except for LinkedIn, does that count?) and have only a few functional apps on my phone. Notifications are off except for calls and texts from selected contacts. My footprint on my laptop is equally light. I spend about 30 minutes per day using my phone, generally forget where I left it, and am thoroughly enjoying the headspace I've gained.
I go through phases with digital detoxing and lately have been feeling the need to reduce my screen time more. I've been doing what I can to make more time to read books from the library and I think picking up books that I'm excited to read makes it a little easier at times to choose to curl up with a book over curling up with my laptop. Getting lost in a book is a great way to get off my lapotp. Thanks for this great reminder! Every little bit counts :)
We haven't had a tv in 12 years, and I don't even know how to use my cell phone to text. Have a laptop which I use twice a day to check email, read newspapers, and watch a few RUclips videos. Dislike clutter and noise. And come Friday at sunset we observe the 'sabbath' where we stay off the laptop until Monday. Concerns me that so many people are afraid of 'quiet'. Or stillness.
Digital detox must be a priority in life. Our basic rights, privacy and freedoms are threaten by our digital media. I've really stepped back from online media. I'm almost a ghost now. Toxic social media almost out of my life.
Yes...it is a usual pattern for most of us... mobile phone... laptop's..PC of some sort...we get so stuck in the routine of switching on it thing every morning. And always checking things out during the day...not realising just how much time spend on the internet.. I am now ..going to delete...what I actually don't need ... Thank you for sharing...
Hi Christine! It was a pleasure meeting you at Fort Mason yesterday. Your chocolate chip cookie was delicious. I hope your cookie company & channel continues to grow. Thanks for sharing your life with us on here. XOXO Jenn
I want to do a digital detox a lot. Have cleaned my phone from the apps that I don’t use. But I can’t really turn away from it totally since I am in a LDR with my partner. So it’s hard not to reach for my phone.
This might be a dumb question, and if you do not mind me asking, I was wondering where you bought some of yours shirts? They always look so comfortable & well made & simplistic. I have been trying to find some of this type; but they seem to be made flimsily and fall apart. Anyways - I love this video topic & have been trying to be as minimalistic with technology as possible this past summer.
I have adhd I have to have noise in the background or I can’t focus and just listening to the radio won’t work so I can’t digitally detox or I won’t do anything lol
Do whatever works for you. I can't speak much on the experience of having adhd, but I do hope there are some measures you can take to unplug from time to time (:
People are being killed, shot in Iran. Internet has been blocked here. We’re fighting for our freedom, the freedom that was taken from us for 44 years. We protest and they shoot us without hesitation. We’ve lost so many friends these days, lots of them were teenagers. Be our voice please🙏🏻#MahsaAmini

Yes! I used to read books all the time and now can’t seem to focus.

I have a great way to remove digital clutter. I don't even use a smart phone, just a flip phone for emergencies. I am more relaxed than anyone I know.
This comes at the right moment! I've been feeling burned out lately, just to realize that a huge part of it was because I constantly supplied by informations I don't really need through the internet. Thank you Christine!
You as well, and thank you! (:

That sounds so freeing! (:

Absolutely! I plan on hitting up my local library soon, very excited to pick up some books too (:
Urgh, I'm definitely trapped in this fog! Procrastinating and the regretting it the next day. 🥺
Really needed this video! I'll regain control. ✨
You can do it (:

Learning to embrace the quiet. It's a beautiful thing (:

Am I first? 😳 Great video, I really needed this wake up call!

These are great ideas that I want to implement and maybe share with the women of my church too. Thanks for this!
Thank you for these reminders and tips! Much love.
Such an important video Christine. Just what I needed to see. Thank you 🙏🏻
Yes I love paper and pen planners
6:30 Look at that good boy being so great at rolling over. 😍
Great video. I think of all these digital devices as weapons of mass distraction .. we have forgotten how to simply be with ourselves
felt like I watched a movie, thank you so much Christine, best wishes
Thank you so much (:
Thank you for this video.
I've seen your black pen in several videos now and I would like to know where did you get it ✨💕
Thank you for such a good content❣️
this is a great video. Good job.

Not a problem! Shirts are from Black Crane, Marty Jean, and the rest are thrifted so they don't have a tag on them.
❤🤗
Where is your couch from?
It's a secondhand sofa from Craigslist!
