    Something that helped me since mine was slipping quite a bit. Read the description of the video, it says "the more torque applied the more bite on the drain". When I switched to use an extender for my socket wrench to get more leverage/torque it was able to actually get mine unscrewed.

    Worked great for me, the cross members in my spud were gone so I couldn’t use the traditional wrench. I suppose I could have tried a hammer or cutting it out, but I likely would have damaged my tub. This tool got the job done quick and smoothly. It is a one purpose tool sure, but it’s still cheaper than calling a plumber.

    I just bought and used one of these from Home Depot. However, they say it won't slip, but mine sure did. In fact, nothing I did with it helped to remove the old drain. As pricy as this tool is, I thought of trying out an inside out drain tool next, but it is far more expensive. These tools are once-in-a-blue-moon type use tool. You need them when you need them, but they don't even make good ashtrays once you finish with using them and your likely to forget just what you used it for as it sits out in your tool box over time. When using this tool, my old tub drain cracked at the edge where plumber's putty goes. It just slipped and no matter what I tried with it, the thing didn't bite in enough to loosen the drain. I didn't wan to smack it hard with a hammer and do any other damage. I may try this out again, but so far it just has not worked for me. The cam-style removal tool seems more likely to work better, but again, the price is high for such.

      Agree. I bought this and it didn't grip at all. Will be donating it to my local Library of Things; hopefully it will be more use to someone else.

      I just bought one and it didn't work at all. Taking it back. Tapped it in and it didn't bite. Tapped it harder and it didn't bite. Pointless.

      you can order one on amazon called the extract-a-drain it's small and has outer steel rings with teeth just like this one, but you can expand it to fit your drain size

      What do you do when it doesn’t work? I can get behind and underneath and cut it out?

    • @Stewartfuct71
      @Stewartfuct71 2 года назад

      I just kept tapping in it in with some force when it slipped and it worked I almost gave up after the first few slips but i think if you keep beating it in with force but not crazy. It works well .. I know I just cursed my self !
