@Alissa. lmao for real, people constantly look for relatability when looking for characters they like, they prefer downtrodden or disliked characters more because people generally relate to their struggles more. Elena was heather, she was perfect, she had friends who loved her, two men constantly protecting her and she was also always really nice. People are jealous. I like Katherine more too, and honestly a big reason I don't like Elena much is because I feel she always has things handed to her (even though it's not her fault😂😂)

Actually elena wasn’t the main character it was Stefan’s story so there for he was the main character and elena and Damon and Caroline etc were like kind of main characters
@@leona5835 That's just a matter of opinion though. It tells the story of a teenage girl (Elena) who falls in love with two vampire brothers; it's that kind of love triangle story similar to twilight. Therefore Elena would be considered by most as the main character, not Stefan.
Leona Hills you’re not educated sorry. Julie Plec ( the director of the show ) said multiple times that Elena, Stefan , and Damon were the main characters of the story , since they were the original love triangle. Elena Gilbert was in the middle of the love triangle so she’s obviously the main character. Get educated luv 🙈✨

Katherine's ability to sustain is what we call survival of the fittest. She was doing what our basic human instincts demand, i.e to survive & self preserve. And the fact that she did it for 500 years, including her never ending run from an immortal hybrid without anyone to have her back & support her only solidifies her strength of character. And she did all this without turning her humanity off. She was doing what everyone would do, if the situation demands. If Elena had no one to look after her, she also would have turned just like her had the circumstances been similar.

Elena is a person who literally turned off her humanity only bcz Jeremy died while on the other hand Katherine's whole family were killed and still managed to live with it....
