Northern Germany, in my case Hamburg, has actually a lot of decent food places that serve regional cuisine for reasonable prices. But yea, germany has a lot of hit-and-miss stuff. It's a mix of very good traditional comfort food and lazy fast food (except Döner, that is goated fast food. Especially late at night when you are drunk).
😭 We have nice food in Germany... I agree on the boring cooked or steamend potatoes. I always switch them for any other potatoe based side dish like cream potatoe puree, potatoe croquettes, love fried potatoes with bacon and onions, rosemary oven potatoes and so on. Also the varity of sausages and the maybe hundrets of different versions of potatoe salads and pasta salads make our Grillparties (BBQ) one of the best parts of summer! My personal favourites: Käsespätzle (spätzle with cheese and fried onions), Semmelknödel mit Pilzrahmsauce (bread dumplings with mashroom cream sauce), Kartoffelpuffer mit Apfelmus (potato pancakes with apple puree), all the atumn/winter dishes with meat (fried goose or duck or some nice goulash with beef, venison or wild boar) with potatoe dumplings and red cabbage, just to name a few.
You know what's up. Also just all the regional dishes. From bavarian meats to northern green kale or fish. A lot of touristy places have just melted into a mush of mid cuisine that is overprized and doesn't do our cuisine justice. And then there is the fact that we infused italian, greek and turkish cuisine into our own.
One of the best moments of the Copenhagen show was whenever Joey had to defend/argue against a take during the third round everyone loudly chanted JOEY! JOEY! JOEY! while Connor barely got to start before he was booed no matter which side he was on. I guess we Danes just like Joey. Thanks for this tour, it gave me a lot of great memories.

When Joey spoke about artists and world tours, I felt that in my soul. As someone who lives in South African we never get big artists or celebrities coming here much. So thank you so much Joey for coming and visiting Comic Con Africa
20:44 It sounded like Conner was describing Lambic Ale. It uses a wild yeast during the brewing process and gives a sour flavor. It's one of my favorite types of beer.
Not really. A few Germans with hurt feelings, but most people don't seem to care. It's an unfair opinion to have, since German and English food are pretty comparable in quality, so it could go either way.
Definitely wished Connor would hype up Cardiff more, it’s a charming vibrant city and it always has a Welsh feel to it! We south walians may not speak Welsh and have been much more anglicised, but we still have the Welsh heart ❤️
Meanwhile I hope we get some Sdmn guests on tbh Idk about you. W2S can be quite funny and it would make for a rather different vibe. I could care less if the chemistry would be off and not fit at this rate
The thing is that schnitzel and bread or the other stereotyped food are not the only dishes that we have. Moreover the Turkish food which got part of German culture because it has went through a major change compared to turkeys food like the döner which is one of the biggest dishes in German culture.
Im sad that the boys couldnt make it to Finland, since as a uni student sadly there was no way I could go to Stockholm for a show :( (also Finland also has BANGER pasties and bakery products overall!) Still happy to hear the boys had a generally good time in Europe, and I'm glad we still keep on delivering the hot food takes even after some redemption on Garnt's bread take! Also god damn this might be one of the most outrageous comment sections in any TT episode 😂😂
Genuinely agree with Garnt’s One Piece take. The live action is a better introduction to new fans than the anime. Best way to get people into the manga the world of One Piece as a whole.
Germany in D-tier because they didn't visit a Döner Kebab place with a glass window and a turkish dude asking: "mit alles?" That's the true german experience
For those who are interested in Connor his "wild beer story": Wild beer is a strange way to say it. It's probably a Geuze you had. You let the beer ferment in the cascet with the bacteria and wild yeasts from the air. Geuze is something pretty local, even in Belgium. People in Pajotteland drink it the most from what I can tell. Sincerily, A Belgian
I thought Garnt finally got some character development with the bread “Your bread actually goated” until he said “British Cuisine is better.” One of the most hottest yet wrong take ever
Hearing them talk about the hot dogs from Denmark made me instantly think about the hot dogs here from Brazil, they would like it too, I think. The logic is quite similar with tons of different toppings and really, REALLY filling. The US hot dog is really a naked sausage on a bun and very sad to eat.
I'm not even German and I LOVED Bernt das Brot as a kid... I didn't understand back then as I didn't speak German but it was entertaining as hell... I did learn German later in school but yeah
I would agree except for the fact that Sweden and Denmark are S. Danish food is definitely a step up, but we can definitely compete with Swedish cuisine lol Plus Norwegian food in restaurants is often really good, even if it’s hella expensive
Lived abroad in Norway for six years and agree. There are so many good things to say about Norway, so many things I loved, but the food is definitely not really among them. German food is definitely better imo. Still, the landscape is just amazing, you can do everything from phone, pay anywhere with debit card and pretty much no matter where you are, you will have 4G mobile data, even in the underground or the middle of nowhere. In those fields, it beats germany by a long shot imo
Here you think Garnt had his redemption arc, saying bread was good, after having been to Germany... Just to ruin it again with his shit food takes.. Smh.
nah I kinda agree with garnt on this one... the only good thing Germany has is plain, boring ass bread and then beer. weiner schnitzel isn't even German so that doesn't count. the only other good thing is currywurst which is inferior to British curries. after this, the rest of German food is just unseasoned meat with mashed potatoes
In Austria you have a 50/50 chance to get the Dutch toilet as well. I grew up with them, only in recent years I expierenced the other option in my country. I really hate the splash back 🤬
As someone who recently spent 3 weeks in France, both doing touristy things and lived in real French culture, this hurts my soul. France gets shit on way too much and I genuinely don't know why (btw I still love the boys I'm just sad).
From a very political standpoint, France-bashing actually has worsened since 2003 because the French president, Jacques Chirac, refused to join the US in the Iraq War. Therefore, France's reputation plummeted, which lead to this mindless bashing.
As a Southeast Asian, France stood out to me as far more insane than the US as far as geopolitics is concerned. Like, they threw a hissy fit a few years ago when Australia decides not to buy French subs in favor of US subs. The French are more willing to throw my country under the bus if it means getting to spite the US and Macron's comment about RoC-in-Taiwan being not worth the effort on their part doesn't win points for me...
The boys all have some horrible takes but Garnt is absolutely the most consistent in how awful his food takes are. Great episode and loved the EU tour!
I think it was better than the anime until Baratie and Arlong Park, which were still fine/ 6/10. It's definitely unfortunate that thanks to the budget and episode limit, they weren't able to add a lot of important moments and characters to the live action.
For the bike segment, it made me think about how it is in France I'm from Sweden living in France, in Sweden pedestrians don't go on bike lanes, in France it's free real-estate and it drives me crazy! Just the other day, 2 people managed to completely block a 3m wide 2-way bike lane, so I had to slow down ring my bell and wait for them to slowly make way! 😡

Henry is also everywhere in The Netherlands! I distinctly remember a kid from my highschool class talking extremely passionately about Henry the Hoover. Turns out his dad ran a parts shop that sold them. I'm surprised to see the NL made it in the top 3 of Trash Taste Country Tierlist. For our basic cuisine there's not really a whole lot to talk about. Sure, we mash potatoes in a pot and add literally anything edible in there and call it done. Any type of meat or vegetable, anything goes. We call it "Stamppot" literally translating to stomp pot cause we stomp all kinds of stuff in a big ass pot. It's nothing fancy but it can be anything you like and the best part is that the pots are usually very big and filled to the brim so you have multiple days worth of food if you wanted to. The cycling part is definitely true. We got all these rules and shit. Heck, we even have "competitions" between cities wanting to be best city for cycling. On the topic of best cities. Apparently a Dutch city won "Best City of Europe" this week. Amsterdam? Nah. Rotterdam? Nah. Amersfoort has been crowned best European city.
Food is the lowest common denominator. I'm with Joey, he turned out to be the intellectual of the team. On my latest (short) trip I ate just whatever was more convenient; I took a take-out pizza to my apartment one evening because it was fast, and it was from a franchise I have at home, I just didn't want to bother with finding a cafe for my dinner. Most of my other meals were in normal dining establishments though. I only visited one special place because it was reminded to me. I spent all the days in museums and other places of culture. Basic, but I planned my trip, and i enjoyed it.
I’m surprised Joey doesn’t have much opinion in French considering where he grew up in Sydney it was near where all the francophone went to school cause there was a bilingual school, and there french markets there every year
The fact my parents watched the live-action One Piece in full before I picked it up has to be a statement in itself for how good it is. Glad fans are enjoying it!

Berlin really just has the "issue" of having a very solid metropolitan culture going on, such that traditional German stuff is really hard to find. Well, that and the occupation after WW2 and following division also didn't help. And how a lot of traditional restaurants straight up got bombed in the war. British food's reputation for being bad mostly comes from the limitations of rationing during and shortly after WW2. .. and and jellied eels, which by all accounts shoudl never have been a thing (there are good ways to do eel. Jellied is apparently not one of them).

As a Dane I laughed so hard on the inside over the fight about hot dogs 🤣
One of the best moments of the Copenhagen show was whenever Joey had to defend/argue against a take during the third round everyone loudly chanted JOEY! JOEY!
