I can see where you are coming from. Even though I love RPGs, I really hate the fact that none of them have excellence in terms of core gameplay. This is why DOOM 2016 was my favorite game of the last decade and DOOM Eternal is now my new favorite singleplayer game of all time. I grew up playing FPS games mostly (Serious Sam, Quake, DOOM, Duke, Half Life, Halo, Blood, Heretic etc.) but I got into RPGs when I was 11 years old to spice things up. And, I do love RPGs. Skyrim is my 2n fav game of the last decade and Witcher 3 would be third. I love Skyrim for its masterful world design with real density, amazing indoor and outdoor environments and handcrafted areas. Not to mention the variety of playstyles you can create in Skyrim. It takes time to like Skyrim but it can literally consume you once you get deep into it. I loved Witcher 3 for the narrative and the quest design. It's just so damn good at telling stories. But all of them lack in the core gameplay department which keeps them away from being the absolute best. Let's hope Cyperpunk 2077 solves that and truly becomes a vast RPG with solid core gameplay.
I hear ya man, everything that big RPGs have to offer always entice me because I think many of them are beautiful and I know there are great moments to be had if I were to play them. However, I just find it difficult to enjoy the actual gameplay and so I never get around to experiencing their worlds and characters. That's why I intend on playing Disco Elysium at some point. From what I've seen, gameplay is completely centered around character interactions so I won't have to get past janky feeling combat. Also, thanks for checking out my videos, really appreciate it.
So many RPGS feel like they are just visual novels with battle mechanics. We need less traditional RPGS and more things like Hylics and Earthbound, games that feel like they could only exist and tell their stories in game form.
i mean it 1000% i felt and feel EXACTLY the same for skyrim. J just dont get it when millions love it also fallout 3. Assasins suck rly boring games, uncharted also. I love witcher 3 and mass effecr and many old school rps though
Yea I can definitely see why many rpgs are so beloved, but when it comes down to it, their mechanics feel so dated no matter their original release date.

Love it. Sooooooio true. But you need to try a JRPG, I just don’t know where to start
I don't have a Switch, does that narrow it down for you?
@@acescase8124 Maybe we both try Persona 5? Never heard a bad thing about that game. And less serious than final fantasy
Genius.
Yea, pretty big brain stuff going on here
