It’s a frequent topic of conversation in drum tuning; what’s the “best” tuning for a given drum? We talk about certain tunings “activating” a drum shell or getting it to a point of peak resonance. Of course, being the curious and experimental type that we are, we wanted to conduct a bit of an experiment to see (and hear) what tuning would most clearly activate our faithful 22x16” bass drum.
