Even I never played Elden Ring can see that when he's closing distance, the mage just jumps into that ball's direction getting covered by it's AOE and damage which is two shot for the kill. Go push against that. High lvl mages are OP in every game for a reason.

Well I mean you don't know what you're talking about, it was a 400ms laggard mage, and gravitational missile desyncs same as waves of desync. I couldn't do anything because he would hide behind grav missile.
I know this mage, his steam profile shows him talking in another language, I am almost certain he doesn’t live in places like US/UK and usually has high ping

Gravitational missile desyncs on high latency, we had more than 300ms, so it always desynced like hell, that's the reason I was spamming rolls (s overlaps over 260ms). Literally I had nothing I could do because I had no endure. I've played this guy several times, endure + rot pata is the only way, and even then it's hard cause he spams madness once you're close.
@marxist_camarada I've played everything at least 10 times. Probably play about 4 hours of pvp a night and on average respec and make a new build with a new idea every... probably 45 min. Been on a greatspear off beast claw kick and had a lot of fun on a dub zero cosplay after the recent buffs to dryleaf. ❤️ nice try tho
If you find another mage like him who has 99 mind the thing I recommend is getting ready for a long fight, one way to counter their annoying spam is to get a pata with endure and rush him down or dual great spears or regular spears and rush him down, you could also use the godskin stitcher with flaming strikes to roll catch no matter the latency, also equip the blessed dew talisman if he’s stalling too much and bull goat if he has something like moonveil in the off-hand for you to be able to trade without being interrupted.
Rancor pots. Even if you don't have fai/int for damage, they will stagger mages out of their spells. I like to have 20 rancor pots, 10 frost pots, and 10 hefty rot pots on EVERY build. The DLC item Fire Coil is busted. Even without the stats that scale with it it will do 100+ damage and it has the best tracking it the game. It might even be patched soon. But it requires farming. Most builds have enough stats to run the DLC Bonebow. You can buy an unlimited number of deadly poison arrows from the merchant in Mogh's Palace. The Bonebow has great tracking and speed. Even with it's status build-up nerf, you should easily be able to poison a mage. Providing an opening if he cures the poison, or dealing damage to him while avoiding his bullcrap. That mage was annoying, but Fromsoft is responsible for making those spells. The fact that the ass's ass teabagged and dropped fetid pots, is what condemns him as a trashy, wannabe tryhard, POS.
I can understand the rolling from the fan attacks but you still should roll towards the mage, any other time there is no need to roll. Even if you didn’t have a ranged attack option in your build you could have pushed him numerous times if you use circular motion when fighting mages to always avoid spells while closing in. Beyond that I do agree that there DLC weapons/ abilities are cracked but then again you’re using rot/pata so you could have schooled him pretty quickly. Also, pay attention to the animation of the gravity spell, there is no need to panic roll.

You really do need to learn to space and dodge spells without spamming roll. You would have been able to put a bit of pressure on had you not been in roll recovery every single time you were near him. Just because you're in g9's discord doesn't make you an amazing player lol

You have to go hit them to stop the spell casting. I counted at least three or four opportunities in the first minute alone.
