Jemisin’s The City We Became and Fredrik Backman’s And Every Morning The Way Home Gets Longer And Longer are definitely at the top of my list.
Oh the joy of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I've just finished studying it for my English Literature degree. I enjoyed it more than I expected and it was more accessible than I thought it would be

Just in case anyone needed reminding that Ashleigh’s taste in books is elite 🤩 ‘Circe’ is one of my all time favourite books too and I truly cannot recommend ‘A Witch’s Heart’ by Genevieve Gornichec enough for lovers of ‘Circe’. It’s a retelling that focuses on Angrboda, who is known as “the mother of monsters” in Norse mythology.
Always adding to my TBR... I can't believe I have yet to read The Night Circus and The Bone Season! It is so so hard to narrow down but especially after the second one the Crescent City series has become a fav for me. I also reread The Odyssey last year and forgot how incredible it is. 🎂🎂

I too love The Night Circus and Circe. Neither one of the favourites but they are both just lovely reads. If We Were Villains is a favourite for me. I adore how it is written, and the story develops over time. I do wish I had a faerie read in my favourites, but I don't like dark romance in my books and a lot faerie books I find falls underneath that, or is a SJM book and I truly don't think I would be into her books. There are some that I have loved but none of them have hit that level of love for me, for example The Modern Faerie Tales and The Darkest Part of the Forest. Also An Enchantment of Ravens and so on. I do technically have a favourite that a faerie read, but it is a childhood favourite and that is the spiderwick chronicles. Not gonna lie, it slipped my mind there for a moment.

See I find it really interesting with Robin Hobb and I started with the Assassins apprentice and wasn't sure I completely liked it- would it be worth trying again? Because everything you said about characters is exactly what I look for in a series. I did read assassins apprentice while I was in a reading slump so maybe I didn't click because of that? Also it's not the genre- I adore fantasy.. Any help?
When I first read assassins apprentice I only rated it 3 stars and wasn’t there impressed, whereas on reread w few years later I loved it! Don’t know if that helps at all 😂
