Leigh and Steph, the truck is looking great. Shake downs are always crap as you have spent so much time and money and you just want things to work but it’s just the reality of such a massive build. Can’t wait to see the rest of your African adventures. Chris and Fiona
Such fun. A new truck's maiden voyage is like a shake down cruise on a new boat. Spent a bunch of time planning , decision making a $$$ only to have a few things requiring adjustment. That is how you learn about the new rig.
You are essentially just sucking your cooled internal air through the condenser of the cooler and chucking it outside. I'd recommend using both connections. More efficient
Maybe a little less efficient but having the two large hoses wasn't so practical. We have the window open a little right at the intake so must of the air it's pulling would be coming from outside.
Hi guys, loving the new build bear. I hung back from commenting when you first mentioned the new upgraded clutch slave cylinder & pedal assist spring from Luke at lof. I had a discovery 2 with the td5 engine, that had been remapped by Alive tuning in England & fitted with a lof power clutch, slave cylinder & pedal spring, all supplied by Luke. The slave cylinder was a nightmare to bleed & so was fitting the spring, which broke after only a week. Luke supplied me with the new uprated version, which constantly slipped & jammed the pedal flat too the floor ! I binned both slave & spring & bought a genuine landrover slave cylinder & was so much easier to bleed up & it gave me a great pedal & not hard at all. Sometimes it's best to stick with genuine parts. Good luck with the rest of your travels. Regards Graham
It’s a shake down trip and when anything that can go wrong needs to go wrong now before you leave CT. You have almost touched everything on the defender so it’s expected! Love the build….it’s the dream build of all overlanders out there! Well done.
Your all heart mate 🍔 The golden arches 👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣. I’m ready ready happy for the both you 👍 The rig looks great 👍 Shit hot 👍 In a caravan park 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 And you put it on video 👌 thanks guys 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Wohoooo, the start of an epic journey.... G&B getting tested, got sruck "at home", all the little growing pains eliminated, the way to gooooo... Enjoy, you 2...
The truck looks great, but hopefully no more things break as that would be an embarrassment for the builders in Cape Town. I hope my people don't let you down, eish! You are very graceful calling it "hickups".
Ahhhh the sounds of the African bush, I love it, great to see you start a new adventure, look forward to the coming episodes, and goodonya for replacing your divots !!!!
Leigh and Step, and .new born's' have teething issues 😜 why should Gizzly N Bear be any different? The whole setup is looking grouse! Glad to see you on the road again, though your mind will settle once the other wee thingy's are taken care of. Here's to the continued adventure! 🍺 Cheers for sharing
Always have a good mood after watching your videos !!! Interesting new idea, the scenery, your reaction when you had problems, they are all very honest. Have fun and be safe !
Very nice build but you might want to use a sleeve or some type of corner on the strap holding the stairs up as the constant movement will cut through the strap and the stairs will drop and get damaged.
Suggestion for vehicle maintenance - put a drop of Loctite thread lock on every screw, bolt or nut that you first or replace. It will stop a lot of rattling and prevent fatness from falling off the vehicle, especially with dirt road corrugations.
1 Zebra, many Zebra. ;-) I'm a die-hard Jeep TJ driver (owned my current TJ since 2006, you want to see pictures? 🤣) so some animosity might be involved but your LR turned out awesome! Like REALLY AWESOME! Thoroughly enjoyed EP269! Brought back many memories - also got stuck in a camp site, in Namibia a few years back, in the TJ. 🙂 Looking to move from JHB to CT with my 13-year-old son in the new year so will be taking pointers! Though Sutherland and the MEERkat array are already on the cards as he is fascinated with astronomy. Hope you enjoy the Braai Country!
Guys, the truck is looking amazing.. I have been following the build from day one, (also folling your previous adventures) and I have to say, you easily have, probably the best looking overland and adventure 130 on the planet!! I wish you both the very best for your future adventures with the new rig, and I look forward to watching all of your future episodes.. take care guys, and enjoy your coming adventures with the big girl 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
finaly you hit the road again!!! we mised you so much!!! hey Stefy! i know that you are the "book keeper", so please tell us how much did it all cost? the car is uniq now! there is no other in the world like yours!! and it looks sooo good! i'm happy that you did this rebuild!
I hope you're prepared to replace that steering knuckle again. 😬 On the "bright" side, there's a good chance it'd already taken some damage before you discovered it was loose so you're probably not going to ruin a good part by continuing with the shakedown run.
South Africa seems even more beautiful seeing it through your lense. When you get to the Northern Cape, we will love to meet you at the Augrabies National Park!!! BTW ... You can have a wine line leak, but with the price of diesel a fuel line leak is not allowed ;) Mooi loop!
Wow guys I really felt for you with the little annoying things on your first trip. However, with LRs they are the vehicles that keep on taking no matter how much time, effort and money you throw at them but we wouldn't have it any other way 😅 I would say that the camber on those front wheels looks a bit excessive so worth getting those swivels looked at and front geometry sorted asap👍 scenery looks amazing and just glad to see you both back on the road doing what you both love doing so much. Looking forward to following your shake down tours.
What a great build out . Was spectacular to see grizzly & bear back on the road again . And even getting a little muddy to . Your videos of this build out were interesting and informative to view . thanks for sharing them with us and all the time spent making these videos . When also being so busy on all the work of the building of the new set up . Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. :) :) 🌍👍🏼😁..P.S. HOPING YOU BOTH HAVE A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A GREAT NEW YEAR TO COME . ☃️🎄.
Happy for you and us fans!! The exploration continues. That stuck situation was weird, glad you got out no problem. Looking forward to the coming trips. Merry Christmas 🎄 🎄 🎄
Bon voyage.😘👍
First adventure after surgery went almost as usual: Unexpected, Muddy and Fun. Merry X-Mas and Happy New Year from the other side of the world. ¡¡Pura Vida!!
Your Dad and I enjoyed the video together few days ago. Great adventure and plenty more coming up I am sure. Let’s hope teething problems of the new born all fall into place asap. Love to you both Mum and Dad ❤😍🥰xxxx HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥳
There's nothing like the suspense of doing a vehicle shakedown during an actual trip ;) Glad you were able to resolve some issues yourself and no doubt the $ saved by using SA labour instead of OZ should alleviate the pain of paying for repairs. Thanks for the content. Cheers
Quite a good roll-out for a new Land Rover .
Leigh and Steph, the truck is looking great. Shake downs are always crap as you have spent so much time and money and you just want things to work but it’s just the reality of such a massive build. Can’t wait to see the rest of your African adventures. Chris and Fiona
I think your truck in its new guise will become iconic in Land Rover circles. It just looks amazing.
Such fun. A new truck's maiden voyage is like a shake down cruise on a new boat. Spent a bunch of time planning , decision making a $$$ only to have a few things requiring adjustment. That is how you learn about the new rig.
Wow! The truck looks so well balanced and sure footed in its configuration. Fantastic job on its creation!
Glad you are enjoying this part of the Western Cape

The minor setbacks are more than made up for by that beautiful country. It's great to see you on the road again! - I wish you a good & save journey

WOW! Bear looks fantastic! You are living the life I am aiming for with Gwyn. You guys are an inspiration to us. Thank you for sharing!
Fantastic. Wilderness is where I had my 1st 30 years
Very nice build but you might want to use a sleeve or some type of corner on the strap holding the stairs up as the constant movement will cut through the strap and the stairs will drop and get damaged.
Great to see u back on the road. Excellent episode 👍. You had a bit of everything.
Get the gremlins sorted and enjoy your Christmas.
Righteo! That's all the inspiration I need. I know what I'm doing this chrissy break.
Thanks again for another great vid. Cheers from AU.

The adventure begins with a broken fanbelt.......Get past that and enjoy yourselves, looks like a magic part of the world.
Mery christmas guys, cool to see you back on the road.
That's not a common zebra, it's a cape mountain zebra. A threatened species. Love your channel guys! Been following for years now.
Ah cool!!! You guys stayed at the same campsite as we did in Easter. It was stunning there and enjoyed the bontebok visitors.

You're heading towards my hometown of Port Elizabeth. I haven't been back in almost 21 years!!😢

I had to get used to your new setup and it took some time to start loving it, but God you did a very nice good job!

Hope you guys had a Merry Christmas and it is awesome Stephy had time with her family again. Stay safe and healthy.
Miss you guys seeing you on the road again
I know exactly how you feel. I'm doing a rebuild of my truck. I'm constantly finding something
