    We should also talk about Sol’s lineage and past
    He has killed his wife 4 times already. Jack-O within this game is technically a vessel for Sol’s wife’s consciousness to live in. He has a child named Dizzy, and Ky put his peepee in her, making Sol his father-in-law. Ky has a child named Sin, and this makes Sol a grandpa. Ramlethal and another character from XRD named Elphalt being somewhat related to Aria’s robotic form Judgement makes them Sol’s…great nieces? Sol’s entire family is extremely confusing. @@serene-illusion I know this comment is weeks old; but there are no more infinites in Skullgirls (or at least; none that are actually inescapable. You get to burst if the opponent repeats a move to often in a single combo). And there haven't been for years. In fact, most characters go for a lot of resets instead (mostly using restands). I love this video, because it's the first time I've had such a clear explanation of some of the archetypes of characters and _what about them would appeal to someone_ and thus what to pick _based on what you like_.
    I'm 1000% supportive of fighting game content from you, I'd love to see more videos like this, because this was fascinating - meaty information, demonstration of meaty information by showing e.g. what a frame trap was, _application of said meaty information_ through analysis of the character archetypes, and _application of that_ to what you want to pick?
    That is absolute video heaven for me and I want more of it.
    I'm an utter fighting game scrub and don't like losing, so it's hard to "git gud"; I genuinely think it is hard to learn to play fighting games just because we don't know what to look for and the feedback is "I lost" or "I won", rather than "I lost because someone did a frame trap that I fell for, that they then used to its full extent and combo'd me for 30% of my health, and I thereafter lost my cool and lost neutral a lot". Or "I was a button mashy nub, and therefore got poked with a long range attack, combo'd into the wall, and thereafter murdered with extreme prejudice by someone actually knowing what they were doing"... which is more likely.
    ... I guess what I mean is, is there such a thing as "fighting game coaching" content and analysis of people's performance?
    And what channels do people recommend watching?
    I'm def. gonna watch the video you linked in the description because that sounds good.
    I'd love content like this based around Blazblue, DB FighterZ, and Smash, if anyone knows recommendations for those I'd love to see it.
    ((Is there a Triburos discord? And is there a fighting game channel there? Curious now.))

    • @kholdkhaos64ray11
      @kholdkhaos64ray11 3 года назад +3

      Yeah, there are tons of fighting game educational content around there. If you're looking for people talking about player matches and analyzing their mistakes, then you're looking for "Match Analysis" videos. Top players do this from time to time looking at their replays but commentators are better for it. Off the top of my head, People like Sajam or Brian F (sometimes iirc) put out match analysis vids from time to time and are fairly friendly about explaining to newbies about what they mean when they drop knowledge.
      If you're looking for tutorial content, those same people apply but there's WAY more to choose from like say jmcrofts or Lord Knight (Dragon Ball).
      There's usually someone out there for you if you give a quick search like "[insert fighting here] tutorial". I hope that helps :)

      @@kholdkhaos64ray11 Thank you - those terms will be useful.
      I'm very much on the periphery of the fighting game community - I play Smash singleplayer and played a lot of Blazblue on Vita single player too, just because their style attracted me, but I knew I was never any good at the multiplayer bit.
      Seeing content like this makes me wish I was into that.
      I did pick up that free ebook a while back about learning fighting games but couldn't get into it. Maybe some different styles of content will help. :)

    As someone who grew up with SoulCalibur 3, GGST definitely translates so much better in my mind through gameplay. For example, SoulCalibur 3 had various complex inputs, parrying, and a universal self-buff, as well as millions of different combos the game outright tells you.
    Meanwhile, Strive's inputs are mostly just the basic attacks, but the game gives you just the basic lay down of what your character can do rather than predetermined combos. It's probably why games like Smash Bros are so popular. You can hand a player the fighting game equivalent to an encyclopedia and scare them away OR you can toss them the pamphlet and let them learn the tech/strings on their own once they're hooked.

    Sweet Vid Trib. :-) I'm old school fighting game(I remember playing the original two-button Street Fighter in arcades :-) ). While I'm no longer the glitchy-twitchy kid that could pull off a quad ultra in KI, this video did get me looking at Guilty Gear. :-) It makes up for a certain incomplete run that....we won't talk about. :-P

    I kinda expected you to make an absolute celebration out of getting your beloved saw into Warframe.
    Well judging by the amount of times you mentioned it in your reviews, I was more expecting as much happiness from you or sht(depending on how good the weapon in your opinion would be) as much fireworks they use on the 4th of July.

    I'd also have mentioned burst and yrc when talking about defense as its nice as a new player to know that when you mess up and get hit, you have a get out of jail card on the table.

    Hm, I'm torn. On one hand, I'm glad Trib is trying something new with his content.
    On the other, even as someone who knows many of the conventions and terminologies of fighting games,
    I had a hard time following this video.
    For example, while I'm familiar with the term, I don't think he ever explained what mix-ups and cross-ups are, going straight into
    the differences and applications of their different varieties.

    • @adamhoneyford6076
      @adamhoneyford6076 3 года назад +1

      idk I understood it so

    • @TheGallantDrake
      @TheGallantDrake 3 года назад +7

      Nah, he explained them. They're pretty intuitive for fighting game terms, too. A mix-up is literally mixing up your attacks, after all :)

    • @hannana.4319
      @hannana.4319 3 года назад +1

      Crosss up is, to quote Dustloop "A crossup is an attack that hits the opponent on the opposite side, forcing the opponent to change the direction they are blocking from left to right (or vice versa)."

    It does feel, to me, like fighting games are what RTS's are if you scaled down the time a match took. The reading the opponent, trying to get a lever in, using your timing to throw off theirs, stuff like that. There's a lot of parallels in the vs. aspect of it.

    • @lookalike4805
      @lookalike4805 3 года назад

      Almost all competitive games can be interpreted that way I believe.... It's what makes them intimidating at first but also its what makes them Awesome !
