When you were working on the combine to set up everything, I was reminded of something from my early childhood that my Grandparents used to do with several other neighbor farms every fall. Each farm had similar crops every year, but each of them alone did not have all of the tools or hands to get all the equipment ready for harvest efficiently. So for several days early fall, each day everyone from all the farms would show up at one farm to work together to set up each farm for the harvest as a team. Each farmer would bring what tools they had to each farm as appropriate and they would all work together to get things fixed/aligned/lubed/inspected as needed. Instead of one or two people working on equipment at a farm, it would be 8-10 people for a day or two. Once one farm was ready, everyone moved on to the next farm that needed to be made ready. I'm not sure how the pecking order was set, but if I recall they tried to work from smallest to largest farms. Bonus benefit from that activity was shared familiarity with each others equipment so that sometimes they could borrow equipment from each other when something broke. Additional bonus: Some farms had more to harvest than others, so everyone would come help if they got done before the others. Additional bonus: My favorite thing about all of this was the excellent food served during and after each prep day as all farms would bring food too!! To my young eyes, it was like a harvest celebration every day... and the harvest had yet to fully start!! Over the years, those families left farming... including my own. Things change. I sincerely miss those days. Best childhood I could ever think of having. Thank you for sharing your farming life with us Zach. Much appreciated every year.
The sad thing is, as the older generations "retired", the younger generations stopped helping each other in this form. I know many farmers in my area but, none help each other. Growing up, I to remember the days when farmers DID exactly that, help each other. Rather is was grain crop, hay crop, even with livestock, it didn't matter. Farmers did help each other. Just shows you how times have changed and not for the better.
Great video. The technician from Honey Bee . . . when he is explaining to MMF at 13:00, you realize that has GOT TO HAVE HAD farming in his background. He comes by his expertise honestly. All technicians should be this good!
My wife and I are looking forward to seeing that new combine in action! Our prayers are with you for a safe and successful harvest with yields beyond your dreams.
Jason sure was grinnin wide after the Razor ride. I thought he was going to tear his face. Made me envious. These machines are getting so complicated it is overwhelming. IF they are all adjusted and working well, they are fantastic. BUTT, there is so much that can go wrong and make them high priced rocks!! Hope they all work well for you.
Re: grain bin extensions. Have your garage door techs install a light beam system(like the one at ground level) back ~10 feet from the door and level with top of door opening. Then when tripped have it trigger a flashing light and or siren.
6:58 Don't change the rethresher setting for corn or beans, always leave in corn or "large grain". The lower setting is small grains only and can cause it to plug up.
Jason set my honey bee up two years ago and I never got gloves 😢 He’s a great guy and this time of year he works hard! Jason I believe there’s more flex in terraces when you get down into the teens 😱
Zach, you and your dad always make me laugh, because you are much more talkative, and he doesn't say a lot. Your dad speaks with his eye's, and facial expressions, mostly. I always think of the video where you talked about how it's part of being Scandinavian, apologize if i got the ancestry wrong, and that you take the subtle hint. Your affect changes around your dad as well, like you're telepathically talking with him as well, i love it. My dad died when i was only 23, and I'm 51, you are lucky to have him around, maybe someday you could tell a few stories. I liked the video when you were talking about your family history, because he talked a lot more. I just know you have some good stories from growing up. Nice rig to go bean combining in, that thing looked huge. G-d bless your family, and furry critters.
Mike Michell had 6 of those Honey Bees 50’ headers good headers but built very light duty. He was always breaking that little aluminum sensor rod on the bottom. Flex very well with ground but long term not sure how long they’ll last.
We pretty much did the same thing an hour ago! We are starting tomorrow. Hope everything goes well for you guys. Last year our Combine started on fire!
@@edwardwaldner6899 I forgot. But my grandpa just left, and my uncle came down with a full load on the grain cart. Pretty much the hole entire Fire DP. showed up. Even the tanker truck came, and we thought it wouldn't make it up the hill the combine was on. But ya it was a crazy night. Also we had corn to do.

Thanks for an interesting and enjoyable video. Great video Zach. Thanks for letting us see all the items to be done to get the honey bee header ready to go. Takes a bit to get it set and ready to work in the field. Lots of technology involved in the header. Like the trailer setup. No big trailer to move around. Neat. I think Jason was surprised at your new toy. He had a huge grin after that ride. Getting closer to harvest. Just around the corner. About it for now. You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything Zach. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Zach. In one of your short videos you said you were very sick for several days. Hopefully you are better now. Know you were wanting to get harvest going. You take care of yourself please. Rest if you need too. We care about you and your health!!!! Great to see Onyx in the grain cart again. Remember: rest, get to feeling better. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

FYI I'm 32 close to your age and If if wasn't for that love I have for farming I wouldn't have found this channel.. your awsome Zach keep it coming man... your dad is so cool
You NEED to check out Higher Power Doors for your new machine shed door. They are amazing, I have a 48’ and a 53’… so nice to be able to pull combines in with headers on. And they don’t cost any more than a roll up door of half the size
Thanks for the upload, I'm a new subscriber, and been catching up on your recent videos. I used to work at Honey Bee Manufacturing in Frontier, Sask. a long time ago, cutting metal on a shear for the struts underneath. I remember Greg Honey, his daughter was my neighbor, nice to see them still making headers. Would like to see a video of it in action.
It looks like there is room to adjust the OHD to go higher so that you will gain more clearance to get combine in and out, all that would have to done is to adjust the closer.
We have had a 245 honeybee for a few years now, id recommend, just getting a 45ft header trailer, the self transport is a hassle if you have to hook and unhook a lot. Especially trying to line up the under carriage in soft soil by yourself.
I've bent our ladder on the door forgetting it was up. Neighbors have as well. At this point I feel like it's the christening of a new machine. Thankfully no hoppers yet.

I’ve recently worked on a new MacDon FD2s header and the easy move transport system is a lot more simpler to use then the honey bee system but from what I’ve heard there both very good Headers. Not many honey bees in my area so would be neat so see one in action
When I set up our s780 the tailings elevator concave deal that you moved to grain should be set on corn for the soybeans as well. According to the book that's what it says for beans anyway.
The one piece you switched from the corn setting to wheat that you hadn't seen before is the rethrasher. Put it back to corn it does a much better job in soybeans.
A couple added a rooftop bike rack. Drove to where they wanted to ride. Drove home, opened their garage and in the after glow of a great ride, drove into the garage, ....... partially.
The honey bee cart system is interesting…I still think that macdon still by far has the best integrated transport on the market the new 250 system made it even simpler than the already great system they had I can have the header off in 5 minutes from the time I step out of the cab
Hard no on that integrated trailer setup. We always end up putting our head on and off in the middle of the road and it takes less than a minute. I couldn’t imagine doing all of that every time we move fields. But I assume you could put it on a normal trailer if you wanted to..
Zach shows up in a hooded sweat shirt, Jason shows up in a coat, Dad shows up in a tee shirt, he's the best!!😊😊 I think Jason said the onboard air pump would take twelve minutes to inflate the head to 90psi, not your shop compressor!
