  • Artwork created by infants, toddlers, and preschoolers will be on display in the windows of downtown Asheboro businesses throughout the month of April in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Week of the Young Child, April 12-17, 2021.
The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration coordinated by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, which is nearly 100,000 members strong and includes a network of more than 300 local, state, and regional affiliates.
“The idea behind Art Explosion is simple-to encourage our young children’s creativity and self- expression through a public display of their original art,” Director of Early Care and Education Andee Edelson said. “In tandem with the Week of the Young Child, we celebrate the importance of high quality early learning and the critical role early childhood educators play in
the child’s development and learning. It is also a way to bring joy to our community especially during these unsettling times.”
Partnership staff and volunteers mount and organize the art, then hang it in the windows of participating local businesses. Once the artwork is up, downtown is transformed into a month- long outdoor art gallery. This year, the gallery will be featured on the Randolph Arts Guild website as a virtual gallery, as well.
Participating centers in this year's Art Explosion include First Church of God Day School, First Presbyterian Preschool, First United Methodist Preschool, Harmony Place, My Circle of Friends Enrichment Center, Noah's Ark Playschool, Precious Memories Preschool, Shepherd's Way Day School, Teddy Bear Child Care Center, The Growing Place Child Care Center, The Children's Center of Asheboro, Trin-Dale Children's Center, and Victory Baptist Child Development Center.
About the Randolph Partnership for Children: Since 1999, the Randolph Partnership for Children (RPC), a non-profit organization, has been the community’s lead organization for young children and their families.
