- A Brooklyn bar backtracked this week hours after its cancellation of a Eurovision watch party sparked a social media firestorm and claims of antisemitism. News 4's Jessica Cunnington reports.
if you dont want to host a watch party, you really shouldn’t have to.
Eurovision not being a political event is ridiculous. Then why was Russia ruled out? Anfd I'm not defending Russia, mind.
They gave Ukraine a free win over that!
It was a mistake to ban the Russians too
Preach! Hitting the nail on the head with that Russia comment.
Well actually it's a good bit more complicated, Russia and Eurovision had been having a falling out for years Russia had been censoring Homosexual performances during there own coverage which is against the rules, and both them and Ukraine had being entering politically charged songs with Ukraine winning one year with reference to a famine in which Ukraines blame Russia for, so Russia boycotted the following year (although it looked like Eurovision was gonna give them a one year ban for censoring anyway) and then after the invasion Eurovision didn't want to throw out Russia but 10 other members including big five threatened to boycott if Russia was in and Russia was calling for Ukraine to be thrown out, so in the end Russia was thrown out
You should be allowed to Boycott, the contestants even asked for Israel to be banned like they did Russia. And her song was about Oct 7th. They let her sing it, but any contestant who showed Palestinian support was canceled, such as Portugal and Netherlands disqualified. This is hypocrisy. Israel should've sat this one out.
americans got rights. they dont have to bow to another country. or any religion. freedom from religion.
The blind leading the blind
Are any of the people that go to this bar ready to go to Gaze / Iran and help the fight?
Maybe a GoFundMe can get started to pay for expedited travel expenses?
They don't have to. They have every right not to want to support a country that is blowing kids up based on hate.
😂😂😂😂 yall so funny. AIPAC must pay well with the garbage your pedaling
@@kris.h.8032 Hamas tool is a fool. Don't be a hypocrite. Are you headed over to Gaza in protest and show your support?
Sounds very wishy-washy to me and flip-flopping😢
The point is that the girl from Israel has nothing to do with any of this. Russia probably shouldn't have been banned either.
Nonsense!!!
The left eating itself love to see it.
Nope. The right loves Israel. This has nothing to do with the left.
Actually judging by MTG’s latest stunt the Republicans are winning that competition in a landslide 😂
I don’t understand what’s an Israeli singer is doing in an European ( euro-vision ) competition, I thought Israel is in the Middle East?? just asking
I thought the same thing. It for member of the European Broadcasting Union which includes countries like Israel and Australia.
I think because alot of Israeli Jews have European roots as well. Atleast that is my guess.
@@mc1993 then it’s not legit anymore, it’s the gray zone I guess
😂 Online backlash. Okay.
DEI
Oh, look, MAGA randomly screaming their propaganda buzz words.
The singer wasn't being boycotted, the show was being boycotted.
Do these agitators have no idea how antisemitic they are? Can they be anymore fake? It is all about our rights and what WE want. Will support whatever side suits us at any given moment in time.
Let's unpack your problematic theory about agitators and introduce some diversity into this robust discussion via good faith.
@@shefalichow7917 sure you go ahead and do that.
It's not antisemitic to protest against war crimes. And nobody is against Eden Golan for who she is, it's because she's representing a COUNTRY committing these crimes. But Zionists will cry antisemitism every chance they get. that's why the word has no meaning anymore.
No antisemitism. This is about Israel. Jewish people are more than welcome. This was about boycotting a country. Not all Jewish people support that country.
You're gaslighting and conflating unrelated things.
@peachesandpoets wow, I have seen a lot of untrue and unbelievable comments posted on RUclips, but yours definitely has my vote. And the trophy goes too...
Stop conflating Jewish people to Israel.
Does anybody in New York know that the Jewish performer is actually the russian born who was raised there and lived there as a grown woman who was doing concerts all over CRIMEA when occupied by russianfaacists 😮

I am sure there are not many Palestinians who go to gay bars. Most of the customers are Jews who are upset over Isreal's actions. This is definitely not antisemitism.
So why did they cancel & say it’s no in keeping with their values? Then put it back on & apologise? Who were they cancelling it on behalf of? & why.? Their values seem to flip flop as quick as the weather
What probably happened here was that non-Jewish and even non-gay activists, who would never attend this bar, flooded the bar's social media with things like "genocide enablers" and "Zionists" etc.
@@astev1384 They caved to Zionist bullies.
You don't get to define who people feel oppressed by, especially when they are being oppressed.
@@IronskullGM That's just all rubbish!
Perhaps the gays, lesbians and feminists could go to the local Hamas mosque to watch it?
This is about Israel being a terrorist state. Do you want to talk about that?
@@peachesandpoets and the gay bar does not want your Hamas politics. Too F bad.
😂😂😂 the amount of people being pro genocide and screaming but the holocaust while a modern day one is taking place before your very eyes is baffling. It’s like they rather pour bleach in their eyes than accept the truth. 😂😂😂
@@kris.h.8032 funny how I did not mention the Holocaust. I mentioned types of people we in the West accept in our society, rather than k1ll them like Hamas does. How very odd that so many of the ignorant protesters at universities in the US would be dead in a millisecond if they set foot in the Gaza strip
Boycotting a government or corporation is one thing, boycotting an individual because they are of that nationality is disgusting. Is this what we have become?
Sad, isn't it?
Umm, that’s what y’all are doing to the protesters on a daily basis. SMH, the hypocrisy and crying victim on a daily basis reminds me of the boy who cried wolf…
It's not the individual, it's the country they represent. I mean they banned Russia from Eurovision, so Israel should've been banned too.
@@aleqrobinson2876 Yes, lets ban opinions and people we don't like, that's totally not authoritarian at all...
@@IronskullGM 🤔 OK if you say so. We're talking about a music competition in Europe, Israel isn't even a European nation. And if they are actively in conflict, they shouldn't be in a competition that they don't even belong in anyway 🙄
That's not antisemitism. People like to use these words to intimidate people, just like when people like to call everything racists. Richard is not even Jewish.
Boycotting a government is one thing, but to boycott an individual because of their nationality is disgusting. If you cant see that youre part of the problem.
@@IronskullGM They are boycotting the nation just like they did with Russia.
@@IronskullGM That is considered boycotting a government just like what they did to Russia.
@user-ux8hg8bk3e right, so I guess we should start boycotting and banning individuals from all countries we don't agree with, huh? Sorry, xenophobia isn't a good look. Especially when you're already advocating for ethnic cleansing for an Islamic theocracy..
Who cares ? What the gays watch ?
Apparently you ? Why did you watch ?
Two perpetual victims
Plenty of Jews are disgusted with Israel’s actions. Plenty.
Being critical of Israel’s far-right government isn’t anti-semitism.
Plenty 😂 it's only you, your dad's boyfriend and Bernie Sanders
@@Veredan87 …and the Jewish protesters who shared Passover Seder with pro-Palestinian supporters on campuses all over the country.
They don't hold their own people accountable but let us straight person say something about them oh God
i am tired of everything being called racist or antisemitic when it just is a minor inconvenience. move on... get over it. no one needs to hold your hand all day
