This is INSANELY fun to play with, i could do this ALL day long. Nothing will beat this in terms of unlocking creativity and inspiration STRAIGHT out of your brain . . . that little tune that's always spinning in your head can finally be captured as Midi ON THE SPOT !! 😁😁😍😄😍😍👌👌 Big ups to you Kenny !
I have tried a lot of DAW's in the past....Tracktion Waveform, Reason, Ableton... I am was a long time FL user... kind of stuck to FL Studio... Now I am definately moving to reaper...Finally I found the freedom I was looking for!!!!!! Thank you for all of our Videos...keep up the good work! Regards
I found that if you increase the "Window size" to 200, and the "Overlap" to 8x, it gets rid of a lot of the extraneous notes. I started getting clicks and pops, which was fine for just getting the MIDI in the PC from my voice, but if it really bothers you, you can just adjust your buffer.
This is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. My keyboarding is slow, this is a game changer. Can you somehow add this sort of thing to a vocal track that already exists? I am a voice actor and it would be really cool to add a VST "my voice in places for some really cool effects. I just bet there's a way to pull this off.
@@tezeta3725 wouldnt you have to create a new track, (with reatune+record midi out) and put the output ( audio) of the original voice track into it (output send to reatune track)- because you cannot record and play at the same time!
So cool! As a guitar player, I find painting notes on the piano roll super tedious. At least this can help slap some notes/ideas down for me to tweak. Really awesome!! Watching more and more of your videos and I love them! I'm becoming a bigger and bigger Reaper fan by the minute.
extremely useful for things like UTAU/vocaloid/synthV this way I can just sing what i wanna hear from the virtual singer, it's easier for me to vocalize than use the piano roll
I had to smile when I saw the title. Reaper does some amazing things these days. I use midiguitar and have to clean up the midi in the same way. I eventually started modifying some JS midi filters to speed things up. Great video and I really hope some singers get inspired by this.
I put my pants on one leg at a time. Except: once my pants are on, I make gold record. And fellas: Don't Fear the Reaper ruclips.net/video/cVsQLlk-T0s/видео.html
Perfect article! Someone is trying to sell me a plug-in for a quarter thousand dollars to do this exact function, when it turns out I can repurpose a voice tuner for it. Also, I find if latency is perceptable I can always drag the recording back in time to line up with all else.
Honestly, I think that this video was simply the best vídeo which I've watched about this subject. Unfortunately I can give only one like to this video. Sorry for the bad english and greetings from Brazil
Awesome. Is there also a way to capture volume and translate that to CC1 modulation? In FL Studio, there is a Peak Controller allows you to use translate decibels to continuous controller data. Converting both pitch and volume of audio to midi and CC simultaneously would be game changing!
Amazing. Any new option for midi cleaning since the video was first uploaded? Through quantization options + ignore imputs under that length or other techniques :)
After a lot of tinkering managed to get somewhat decent result. Apparently I can't hold a note. Set tecord to output MIDI To record midi "record monitoring" seems to be required, which may require you to disable your instrument while singing in order to properly save it.
nice... but too bad we don't have a JS plugin that could eliminate the small unwanted notes instead of having to use the filter after recording... I tried the JS MIDI Note Length but did not work well... it would be better if we could have a plugin or script that could filter out notes less than 1/8...
Does anyone know if you can do this with drum beats. I want to sing (play drum sounds) with my mouth and have it come out as midi notes. Is this possible??
Can anyone tell me why I'm not seeing or hearing the midi that I have recorded. I followed the directions to the T. I am able to assign and hear the virt. instrument but when I record it, no midi shows up in the piano roll and no sound plays back!
Reaper has answers for almost all things you can imagine. But why no session view/ scratchpad like option which is built and works seamlessly with workflow. Logic pro 10.5 has now come up with live loops?
When I make Reatune play my voice on a piano VST, it turns a simple song like Happy Birthday to You into a jumbled mess of atonal-sounding piano notes.
hum light went off in my head you can take a guitar and play one note at a time . lol midi guitar butt you have to only play mono notes it wont with full chords this was sick thank you for showing this
hello, thanks for that. i have a wav bass track how could i use your solution to convert this wav track to another midi track (or the same track) ? thanks
I did everything you taught in the video, step by step. But reaper does not record midi notes! Are there any more configurations that need to be done? Help-me please
@@miguelmatusct Heyi just tried again. I started a new project and followed the step by step and it worked with the latest reaper. First try was with the cocos synth he used in the example
You could compose an entire song with reatune with an orchestral if you take the timeto do it...Not only with starting with the voice but also a guitar or acoustic pianoor any other instrument that you can think of...boom...!
when you taught us to record midi using guitar you used the EQ to turn off the guitar sound while in this case you are using the volume plug in is there any certain reason why you did that ??
As usual, very useful, to-the-point, no frills, no BS information. Thanks Kenny, thanks Reaper!
Ive been using this software for 10 years and I still learn new things all the time
Another reason to love using Reaper

This is so cool, had no idea reatune could do MIDI from audio like that. Very nice.
Right? And you hit the nail on the head...obviously any single line (iow non polyphonic) audio will work, not just voice

Wow, I'm literally blown away at how versatile and powerful Reaper is :O Thank you Kenny, you rock!
literally? I doubt that highly
It also works if you use your guitar into your interface I stead of a mic.
I know I'm kind of randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream newly released tv shows online?
@Hezekiah Ricky try flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Hamza Jaxx Yea, I have been watching on Flixzone for months myself :)
@Hamza Jaxx thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service =) Appreciate it!!
@Hezekiah Ricky glad I could help xD
Fantastically useful!
Thank you Kenny - clear and informative as always!
I googled "is it possible to record vocals as midi", and it led me here. I'm so glad it did 😁
Thank you so much Kenny... this is very cool. No way I could learn to much about Reaper without your tutorials.
Man, every one of your videos just blows my mind. This has been my favorite blown mind
This changes everything to the point of bringing me to happy tears!
Excellent tutorial sir. Will be a spectacular utility for when the muse hits. Thank you!

Wow!!! This is a game changer. Add pitch correction to whatever key you're in and presto! Amazing... Thank you so much for this.

You can add reatune to a prerecorded track and do the same thing

this is an absolute game changing revelation for me! thanks Kenny
Wicked cool! I knew such things were possible, but I had no idea it would be that easy to put together.
Now I just need a good string/pad pack.
It is incredible, day by day reaper surprises me more.

Love your Reaper tutorials man! You really know your stuff! Thank you!
Thank you very much. Your tutorials are amazing.
Excellent. Reaper is powerful! Thanks Kenny 👍
Recording drums with voice! Please, Kenny
that would be a Dubler thing

2:00 how did he fold the plugin to the track interface???
@Lungho ok but how you fold it?
Amazing. Used this with a DI electric guitar to drive NeoPiano VSTi and it sounds like I'm a competent blues pianist.

thanks for the tutorial dude, its very helping for the people with low music knowledge like me
You teach as well as you sing, bravo and thank you.

Increadible.
All I can say is WOW and thank you.
Best one yet. I learned more different things. Better even than Jelie. Who is also very helpful.
So, sorry for my ignorance but where the piano harmony came from? It was a previous track and you sang over it?
Yeah. Just some background music.
Awesome !
The theme reminds me of "Riz Ortolani - Main Theme [Cannibal Holocaust - Original Soundtrack]" :)
It is really a great feature you showed, thanks a lot :-D

I have a question: do you have any trick to decrease the latency? Thank you so much, this is a great video !!!

Hi Kenny, Does the intensity (velocity) also detect it?
Simply magic
Mindblowing!
Nicely done ✅
Very cool indeed, another one to play around with while I’m quarantined
Can you use a pre-recorded vocal track instead of singing to the microphone?
I had some trouble with this. I found it tracked much better if I would sing or play guitar through some compressed fuzz.
Does anyone know if you can do this with drum beats. I want to sing (play drum sounds) with my mouth and have it come out as midi notes. Is this possible??

Thanks again Kenny, really useful !

Thanksa lot for share this with us! Game changer!
I'll bet if you use an autotune module on the input track you can get more accurate notes, finally a good use of autotune.
excellent thanks for this!
Great job!
cool. but you won't be able to send pitch bend and modulation do you ?
When I make Reatune play my voice on a piano VST, it turns a simple song like Happy Birthday to You into a jumbled mess of atonal-sounding piano notes.
I learned at least 10 things in this video that has a million uses.
where does the piano come in? it's in your song, but i didnt see you add it

when you taught us to record midi using guitar you used the EQ to turn off the guitar sound while in this case you are using the volume plug in

Dope intro music update! 😎
Thanks.
OMG Yes! Game changer - as a songwriter - wow - just wow
Can we turn recorded samples into midi?
seems like you could get some cool faux-vocorder (fauxcorder?) type effects using these techniques.
Can we make chords using this
yup. just add JS MIDI Chord in Key to the input fx as the last slot.
Volume Pan v5 doesn't exist for REAPER. where did you get it?
this is so cool thank you
Can this trick be use on drum plugin??
ur the man! thnx
that is so cool!
WOW!! (Mindblow.gif)....
Wait. I can....
use this to create psytrance basslines and crazy synths melodies like Polyverse Manipulator O.O
Does not work in Reaper 6 is there a way to make it work?
try midi overdub
The same happens to me. No midi notes recorded. Have you found a solution? Cheers!
Thanks ! Incredible way to play MIDI !
